Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary, Joe Kalusa, has commissioned the 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) community projects in Feira Constituency of Luangwa District worth over Two Million Kwacha.
Mr Kalusa says the construction of the community projects is a clear demonstration of the government’s continued commitment to foster infrastructure development aimed at bringing services closer to the people.
Speaking when he commissioned and handed over a 1 by 2 classroom block at Katondwe Primary School, a staff house at Mukando Early Childhood Education Centre and Police Holding Cells at Luangwa Police, Mr Kalusa explained that the projects are meant to ease service delivery in the district.
“The government has increased the CDF from K1.6 million to now K40 Million and this has expedited the rate of infrastructure development in constituencies across the country,” he appreciated.
Luangwa Police Officer-in-Charge, Assistant Superintendent Margaret Mwanamuwila, praised the government for the rehabilitation works conducted on the dilapidated police holding cells.
Ms Mwanamuwila said the suspects that were held in the police cells would escape as the facility was not properly secured hence the request to reinforce security with support from the Constituency Development Fund.
She explained that the facelift has improved the dignity of all the suspects in accordance with human rights.
And Katondwe Primary School Headteacher, Mubuka Libuku, expressed happiness at the rehabilitation works on the 1 by 2 classroom block, accommodating early childhood education learners and grade one, whose roof was blown off a few years ago.
Ms Libuku explained that about 200 learners were affected by the tragedy as the school did not have enough space to accommodate all the affected learners.
The commissioned projects are in Dzalo, Katondwe and Kaluluzi Wards while a staff house was commissioned at Mukando Early Childhood Education Centre.
