Government to provide equipment for safe gold mining-President Hichilema

President Hakainde Hichilema says the government will provide equipment to support formalised and safe gold mining in Chitambo district of Central Province once re-elected into office.

President Hichilema says the government will provide the right mining tools to registered cooperatives to enable small scale miners in the area enhance their operations and realise maximum benefits from mining.

The Head of State said this when he addressed a public rally at Chitambo’s Mpelembe Secondary School Grounds, this afternoon.

President Hichilema also pledged to build a befitting district hospital with mortuary services in the underserved district.

Meanwhile, the Head of State told the people of Chitambo that the government would take electricity to Mpelembe ward and build a bridge across Loumbwa stream which gets flooded and becomes impassable especially in the rainy season.

President Hichilema appealed to the people of Chitambo to vote for him and United Party for National Development (UPND) aspiring parliamentary and local government candidates for continued development.

He highlighted some of the major developmental achievement of the ruling UPND as; the Free Education Policy which has become law, infrastructural projects in health and education sectors through the enhanced Constituency Development Fund (CDF), the mass recruitment of teachers, health workers, police, Zambia Air Force (ZAF) and Zambia National Service (ZNS) officers.

And President Hichilema emphasised the need to reduce the bus fares in response to the fuel prices that were reduced last week.

“Next Month, we shall further lower the prices of fuel to lower prices of other essential commodities, this will mean that the cost of transport and bus fares must also come down,” said President Hichilema.

He further noted the reduction in the price of cement from K176 to K158.

Meanwhile, President Hichilema called for unity within the party saying the general membership should embrace new members and support whoever is contesting parliamentary and local government seats on the UPND ticket.

“There can only be one MP, Council Chairperson or Councilor, we need to support whoever has been fielded by the party,” said President Hichilema.

And Chief Chitambo of the Lala people appealed to the people of Chitambo district to rally behind President Hakainde Hichilema in the August General Elections saying his commitment to addressing the developmental aspirations has already been witnessed in many parts of the country, including Chitambo.

Chief Chitambo says President Hichilema has initiated various developmental projects that have improved the lives of the people.

The traditional leader said development can only be driven by the party in government urging the people of Chitambo to give President Hichilema and all UPND aspiring parliamentary and local government candidates, a vote.

Chief Chitambo also thanked the Head of State for visiting the area.

“This is the first time we have seen a sitting President visit Mpelembe area.

And UPND National Chairperson, Collins Mauma, said President Hichilema has exhibited love for the people of Zambia calling for unity.

Mr Mauma urged the people of Chitambo to support the President in his re-election bid.
