President Hakainde Hichilema says Nyimba District of Eastern Province was split into two constituencies in order to make development inclusive across the area, such as the construction of Kalambakuwa Dam, which he assured will be complete soon.
Speaking when addressing a community engagement in Nyimba, Mr Hichilema said the delimitation exercise that culminated into two constituencies namely Nyimba South and Nyimba North, will increase the resource envelope for the people in the district.
And Mr Hichilema says Kalambakuwa dam located in Chief Ndake’s area will be complete when the current administration is given a fresh mandate, explaining that the dam will improve water security in Nyimba district.
The President urged the people of Nyimba to make an informed decision during next month’s election, based on the unprecedented development the current administration has embarked on.
‎”The decision we will have to make is that on August 13, we have to vote for UPND for us to continue with development. As we make the decision, we must remember where we were before 2021,” President Hichilema said.
The Head of State cited the employment of health workers and teachers in addition to implementation of the free education policy, as some of the success stories scored.
‎”Last month I signed into law free education. ‎From now on going forward, if you want to continue going back to school free of charge, you want your grandchildren and your children to go to school free of charge, you will vote for us,” he said.
The President said despite his administration embarking on a great amount of development, more work needs to be done.
Mr Hichilema added that the government needs to be given a fresh mandate to complete the work it has already started.
‎”We have done some work but there is a lot more work to be done. Let us agree on one thing, this year we need to win by a big margin. We have to campaign in every village,” he said.
