The United Party for National Development (UPND) has called on party members and the general public to avoid speculation and the circulation of unverified information following the helicopter incident involving Vice President Mutale Nalumango in Nakonde District.
In a statement, UPND Secretary General Batuke Imenda urged the public to allow relevant authorities to conduct comprehensive forensic and technical investigations before any conclusions are drawn.
Mr Imenda said the party will await the outcome of the investigations before commenting further on the cause or circumstances surrounding the incident.
He expressed gratitude that Vice President Nalumango, the flight crew and all passengers escaped unharmed, describing the outcome as a blessing.
Mr Imenda also commended President Hakainde Hichilema for promptly updating the nation after speaking with the Vice President.
He further welcomed Government’s confirmation that Mrs Nalumango underwent a precautionary medical examination and was later discharged in good health.
Mr Imenda also praised the Zambia Air Force flight crew, emergency responders and medical personnel for their professionalism and thanked the people of Nakonde for their swift response and support following the incident.
