Government has assured the Resident Doctors Association of Zambia, that the authority is working swiftly towards ensuring that all newly recruited health personnel are introduced on the payroll by July 31, 2026.
In a statement issued to the media, Ministry of Health Head of Communication and Public Relations, Twaambo Siavwapa, says that the delays were as a result of an increased volume of recruitment in recent years, assuring that the Ministry of Health is working round the clock to resolve the bottlenecks.
Mr Siavwapa however noted that the ministry has introduced over 3000 newly recruited staff onto the payroll as at June 30th, out of the 3,386 that were recruited and required to report for duty.
“The omission of some individuals from the current payroll cycle resulted from a combination of these high volumes and delays in the finalisation and submission of required official documentation by some individuals,” said Mr Siavwapa.
He added that the Ministry of Health values the critical contribution of Resident Doctors to the national health delivery system and appreciates the patience of the newly recruited staff, as it works towards finalising the administrative process.
The Resident Doctors Association of Zambia, earlier raised concerns regarding payroll integration of a subset of recently recruited health personnel.
