President Hakainde Hichilema has assured the people of Chama district in Eastern Province, that elected back into office, he will work on more life-changing projects, which include the Chama-Matumbo road.
President Hichilema said this in separate engagements with traditional leaders and residents who gathered at China Civil grounds.
“The UPND administration has already done enough and you giving us another mandate means we continue improving the lives of our people,” he said.
The President also wondered why anyone who would vote for candidates who had proven in the past that they are unable to deliver.
“The country’s debt increased and we have been working to give this area a better picture. We also ensured our children are given the best opportunities through free education and other initiatives,” he indicated.
The Head of State also called on Chama residents to come out in huge numbers on August 13, 2026 to vote for him and the UPND, for continuity of good governance.
And traditional leaders have commended the government for implementing various developmental projects that are improving the livelihoods of local people.
Speaking on behalf of six other traditional leaders, Senior Chief Kambombo of the Senga people said the district has continued to benefit from a number of developmental initiatives either initiated or enhanced by the UPND administration.
The traditional leader cited the recently commissioned mini hospital in Chief Tembwe’s chiefdom, as one of the major infrastructure projects that has enhanced access to quality healthcare services for residents.
“Chama district is also benefiting from various social and economic empowerment programmes, including the Cash for Work initiative, which has provided temporary employment opportunities and improved household incomes,” he noted.
He added that other government programmes being implemented in the district are contributing to improved living standards and accelerated development in local communities.
“The development taking place under your leadership cannot go unnoticed. It is evidence of the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of the people,” he said.
The traditional leader assured the President of the traditional leadership’s continued support towards government programmes aimed at fostering inclusive development across Chama district.
