With three matches left to play, Kalulushi Modern Stars have cut Lumwana Radiants’ lead at the top of the FAZ Division One North table
to one point after thumping Kansanshi Dynamos 3-1 at Independence Stadium on Sunday.
Kalulushi benefited from Lumwana’s 1-0 loss at their Solwezi rivals FQMO Mining to close in on the leaders.
Dennis Njapau’s Modern Stars now sits on 58 points, one behind Lumwanaafter 31 matches played.
Kalulushi scored forward Cephas Handavu, who registered a brace, and Moses Soko.
Luka Mukosela scored for Richard Kasune’s Kansanshi.
Meanwhile, a goal from Chileshe Mwewa propelled FQMO to a 1-0 win over leaders Lumwana at Independence Stadium in Solwezi.
The first half had ended goalless before Mwewa stunned Lumwana with a late goal in the 76th minute.
The win pushed FQMO from fifth into fourth place with 55 points.
Elsewhere, Mufulira Blackpool maintained third place after beating Copperbelt Buffaloes 2-1 at John Kachofa Stadium in Kamuchanga.
Black now sits on 56 points, three behind leaders Lumwana.
