Mighty star Bwembya looking forward to CAF U23 outing

Mighty Mufulira Wanderers captain Taonga Bwembya has promised to make the nation proud after being included the final Zambia Under 23 squad for the 2015 Africa Cup in Senegal.

Bwembya, a defender, is in the team coach Fighton Simukonda has named for 2015 CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations to be held from November 28 to December 12.

In an interview, Bwembya said he was happy to be part of the Under-23 squad.

“First of all I would like to thank the almighty God that I made it to the final. I am very happy,” Bwembya said.

“I waited anxiously for this chance so I wi use it and put in my level best so that we qualify for the Olympics in Brazil,” he said.

Bwembya was instrumental in helping promoted Mighty to finish fifth in the ended FAZ Super Division season.

Meanwhile, Belgium-based Ronald Kampamba leads the list of four foreign based players named in Simukonda’s final squad.

The others are Lubambo Musonda, Patrick Ngoma and Aubrey Chirwa.

The team is scheduled to leave Lusaka for Dakar on Wednesday.

The top three teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics men’s football tournament in Brazil.
