Government has directed the Zambia Revenue Authority(ZRA) to strengthen tax compliance especially in the wake of the country’s economic difficulties.

Finance Minister, Alexander Chikwanda says there is still visible slippage in the tax compliance.

Mr. Chikwanda was speaking when he commissioned ZRA staff houses built at a cost of three point Six million kwacha at Mwami Border post in Chipata District.

He said tax offenders should expect tough sanctions from government as it tightens loopholes.

Mr. Chikwanda however, commended ZRA for beating their revenue collections target for 2015.

And Eastern Province Permanent Secretary, Chanda Kasolo government has made progress in turning Mwami border post in a one stop shop.

Mr. Kasolo said it is pleasing that government has embarking on various development projects ast boarder posts in the province.

Meanwhile ZRA Commissioner General, Berlin Msiska said Mwami border post is very key to the linkage of the Nacara Corridor.

Mr. Msiska said in 2015 ZRA collected 44 million kwacha against a target of 57 million kwacha at Mwami border.

He said the construction of staff houses will t boost morale in workers thereby improving tax collection.

  1. Infuse op into these corrupt institutions who can be feeding the system on operations.
NB THE STRENGTH OF A NATION IS MEASURED BY THE STRENGTH OF ITS INTELLIGENT SYSTEM. THE FACT THAT PIPO ARE CORRUPT ITS BCOS THEY KNOW NO ONE SEES THEM.
OTHERS ARE MPS,POLICE OFFICERS, ETC NO ONE TO DETECT.
    EXAMPLE
IF A CRIMMINAL U MOVE TO UK, JUST ON ARRIVAL SECURITY WILL KNOW ,TAXI DRIVERS WILL AVOID U FEAR OF BEING MONITORED BY SECURITY.
HERE FOREIGNERS STAY WITHOUT VALID PAPERS,THEY STAY HERE IN ZED EG JUST GO FOR ORDERS IN CONGO IMMIGRATION OFFICERS GET SALARIES FROM SUCH AND NO ONE MONITORS THE SYSTEM.
URGENTY CHANGE OP TO SOLVE CORRUPTION NOT THESE ANTI CORRUPTION ITS JUST AN EXTENTION OF THE GAME DOES NOT SOLVE IT,
WE NEED A INVISIBLE ARM WHICH CAN SAY MR SO GOT THE CASH WITHOUT DOING JOB…

  2. Against all fairness I think Mr Chikwanda should resign( not retire because he already retired) as Finance Minister. This a very key position in Zambia’s economy to let someone from the stone age era manage. This man was born in 1938 whichever retirement age we want to use he will still be way over age. Unless Zambians are no longer producing intelligent siblings to take over from these ancient beings.

  3. Next the Home Affairs Minister will be directing ZP to be arresting burglars and thieves….Really laughable …instead of investing more in ICT and modernization to make them more efficient and fair on everyone to block all leakages. I can bet you Fossil Chikwanda’s proxy companies do not pay a single ngwee in tax….how did a company like the Post get away without paying tax for that long, why do we not sit down and implement “root and branch” reforms to avoid such issues.

  4. Kci you cud be a foreigner/corrupt just debate and stay put if u cant. u only outer rubbish which dot solve anything the space is not for insults plz

  5. Why is that Chikwanda is the only one commissioning ZRA projects espercially housing projects?i wouldnt be suprised to hear that Chikwanda is benefitting from these corrupt tenders to built substandard houses for officers.
