Sikazwe beaten to 2015 CAF Award

Share

Jan Sikazwe has been beaten to the 2016 Africa Referee of the Year award.

The Zambian referee was beaten to that honour by Bakary Papa Gassama of Gambia at the awards gala held in Abuja on Thursday evening.

Sikazwe was the only Zambia’s on all the honours shortlists of CAF awards handed out last night.

However, ex-Zambia coach Herve Renard won his second CAF Coach of the Year award after taking home the 2012 gong.

Close-by, TP Mazembe of DR Congo won the Club of the Year award.

The nights crowning moment came when Borussia Dortmund and Gabon forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang deservedly won the African Footballer of the Year award ending Yaya Toure’s four-year reign.

    • How can you be satisfied with a loss? This is why Zambians are always losers. Zambia was a football power House in Africa for decades but only lifted the trophy by accident in 2012 coz u r always satisfied with finishing number 2, 3,4 or 5. No winning mentality

  1. I just love Jan Sikazwe – the way he conducts himself on the pitch, his demeanor when talking to players, decision making and his professionalism in general.

    • This is because you have only seen him from a distance. There are incidences where he has a demonstrated some arrogance and in professionalism . one example is when nchanga rangers officials had an issue with him: instead of addressing it, he said mukambe ukulisha.

  2. Did you think he could win? cAF is for francophone and West African countries. Others are just there to make up numbers. Do you remember how they took away local best player award from sunzu to give it to abutreka at last minute even when sunzu had already received a letter to that effect? Wake up docile Zambians

  3. But Jan & Gassama? Bros let’s be serious, Gassama was always going to win on any day. That’s not to take away anything from Jan. But the question should be why only Jan? With Kalu on FIFA & CAF committees why don’t we see zambians popping up on many accolades. If you just arrived from mars you would think Kalu is the only zedian who was ever in football. How much did Kalu contribute in destroying Clifford’s career.
