New Generation Party (NGP) President Cosmo Mumba says President Rupiah Banda’s decision to terminate Zambia Public Procurement Authority Director (ZPPA) Director General David Kapitolo’s contract is unfortunate.
Mr. Mumba has since advised President Banda to rescind his decision saying that the president should have taken some time to look into the matter.
The NGP President said in an interview in Lusaka today, that the ZPPA Director General did nothing wrong for allegedly testifying against former Transport and Communications Minister Dora Siliya during the tribunal sessions.
He said it was very sad for Mr Banda to terminate Mr. Kapitolo’s contract of before it could end next year.
Mr. Mumba has since also advised President Banda that he should be very careful with his advisers in the government.
He said some of people in the ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) were embracing Mr Banda just for jobs.[quote]
The NGP President also urged President Banda to ensure that people involved in alleged corruption activities are investigated by all means.
He has since urged Local Government and Housing Minister Benny Tetamashimba to reverse his statement that MMD National Secretary Katele Kalumba should step down for alleged corruption.
Mr. Mumba wondered why Mr. Tetamashimba kept quiet on Ms. Siliya’s alleged abuse of office adding that the MMD should not be favoring certain individuals.
He added that once the MMD starts favoring certain individuals this would lead the party to being divided.
The NGP President has also since given Mr. Tetamashimba 24hours ultimatum to issue a statement on the roads and drainage system in Kanyama area.
He observed that roads and drainage systems in Kanyama were in a deplorable state adding that something needs to be done urgently.
Media reports today report that President Banda has terminated the contract of ZPPA Director General David Kapitolo for allegedly testifying against former Transport and Communications Minister Dora Siliya.

What was the motive behind leaking classified documents if not ill bent intentions? Why didnt the AG choose to further collaborate with the Ministry rather than leak out classified info? The damage done in the Zamtel evaluation thing is more about this than the flaw in the making of the MoU! 0n RB supporting Kunda, what do people expect? A president will never distrust his own Ministers. The issue is that the AG was ill bent on disparaging Dora than anything. Did the AG approach the President before coniving to state anullity? Unfortunately, these are the party cadres RB and Mulongoti entertain. This guy is NOT MMD, where does he find the time and space to talk about MMD and even going to advise the President? Something is seriously wrong with RB’s leadership. We cannot have a country being run by party cadres. These are people who will do anything to please anyone in power. They have no principles.
This is proof that Zambia has really gone to the Dogs… People like Teta, Humprey and Cosmo are shaping the country’s political discourse – even getting front page coverage on LT space, would you believe it? Really this is a joke!
Political battles are crazy…and always very entertaining though quite often very disappointing as they dwell on the lives of innocent/suffering people i.e. ordinary Zambian citizens just getting by. The argument that the President does not have to give reasons for firing someone is in itself questionable as most political activities remain in the interest of Zambian public. However, although not every story/act is revealed, the firing of a government official by the President is not a secret and this should be communicated to the Zambian people. Other people have been through questionable press conferences and this makes me wonder why the firing of others is covered up. Consistence/transparency…whatever happenned to them!!

I learn that Aka ( the president of a defunct tribal and family party known as Agenda for Zambia) is one of the advisors, is this true? Could this be the reason why his siblings have been given diplomatic jobs? Zambia is now worse than a circus. At least a circus is organised.
To all The Post bashers, please condemn the paper sparingly. Whatever its shortcomings, it is the ONLY newspaper in Zambia that has unearthed a number of scandals. Without it some of the criminal dealings wouldn’t have been known by the citizenry. Remember that Zambia has a very weak, ignorant, and cowards for opposition parties. Without The Post the president and his ministers would be at liberty to ride roughshod over everyone and everything. At least The Post has a calming effect on these thugs.

Ba blue blood, I agree that the post has a great role and for me remains the best newspaper but carefull not all that they report is true or accurate. They are also subject to criticism. I am not convimced that they have got it right on Kapitolo, . (1)Then could simply be lying (2) they could be used by someone who wants kapitolo to keep the job(3) or simply someone tryingto discredit govt. So I also advise not impressed gelos not to jump to conclusion on Kapitolo

Did the police abduct Fr Kaoma?
A Kitwe Catholic priest who staged a lone protest for the reinstatement of Frank Bwalya as Radio Icengelo station manager has disappeared.
Father George Kaoma on Sunday staged a lone protest in Kitwe but was allegedly abducted.
Confirming the disappearance of his supporter, Fr Bwalya told a local radio station that he suspects that the Zambia police picked him up.
Fr Bwalya said that Fr. Kaoma was abducted by unknown people late afternoon on Sunday.
He said Monday morning that the whereabouts of Fr Kaoma has not yet been established and no one had thus far claimed responsibility.
Fr Bwalya hoped that his colleague is safe where ever he might be.
