SACCORD says the reported near punch-up between opposition UPND MPs is an indication of how deep rooted political violence has become in the country.
SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe said the near punch-up is an extension of political violence to Parliament which has been happening in the country try.
“The reported near punch-up between opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) Members of Parliament (MPs) is an indication of how just deep rooted political violence has become in our country.
“The near punch-up is an extension of political violence to Parliament which has been happening in our country on our streets, at international airports, churches, hotels, bus markets, bus stations and international day celebrations. As SACCORD, we have constantly consistently appealed to our political leaders to practice non violent communication as much as possible as violent communication leads to disrespect to the extent that people may end up killing as studies have shown.
“It is expected that our MPs should exhibit exemplary behavior as much as possible so that political cadres who look up to them can have good role models. If political leaders who are Honourable are in the forefront of using violent communication and almost end up fighting in Parliament, what message does that send to their followers? We hope that the Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr Patrick Matibini, will act boldly on violent communication in Parliament and ensure that civility prevails in terms of language and conduct. We cannot afford to allow political violence to be extended to Parliament in Zambia as it is already in most sectors of our society and is a clear and immediate present danger to our peace and stability,” he said.
On Wednesday two UPND MPs Cornelius Mweetwa of Choma central and Jonas Shakafuswa Katuba almost fought in the house when the later seemed to be incensed by the actions of his colleague from Katuba who raised a PF symbol.
Comment:very sad
UPND is violent party.
This is also an indictment on Patrick Matibini. It goes to show how much respect the man has lost over the house.
Its imperative the guy is kicked out of parliament before he turns it into another of the chawama taverns.
Very poorly written article. Almost fought? Characterize that please?
Mweetwa is not a leader,,,kuwayawayafye
Almost fought. What is almost fought? Is Chishimba Kambwili and GBM’s exchange an almost fought?
they should ve fought

On Wednesday two UPND MPs Cornelius Mweetwa (Tonga) of Choma central and Jonas Shakafuswa Katuba (Lenje) of Katuba constituency almost fought in the house when the later seemed to be incensed by the actions of his colleague from Katuba who raised a PF symbol perceived to be a symbol for all Bembas.
@Chitembeye stop this tribe song.No one has talked of tribe after all they are brothers.Bembas and Tongas are all Bantus and hence I dodn’t see any difference.
Shaka fights well with his dick…
Mweetwa is a fo0l and I feel he can not match ci Shakas physically. Why start a fight you cant win just because of a symbol stup1d id1ot.kikikikikikkiki!!!
Not very accurate reporting. You should have said “a near punch-up between a full-time UPND MP who has endorsed HH and a part-time UPND MP who has endorsed ECL”
Big Moze Chilando true PF candidate for Katuba..
This ka Mweetwa has done nothing in choma and we are not going to vote for him this year .We see him in his ka USELESS CRUISER just making noise. He has no house in choma imagine this chap !
Shakafuswa giving ba UPND sleepless nights. no one is fighting Guy Scot, Masebo or GBM for openly supporting HH. in extreme case for GBM insulting the PF. UPND is a violent party
Violence begets violence. People can only eat themselves with the use of mockery, trickery and violence. A little honesty in presenting to the public will do UPND a world of good. Sophisticated presentation is BS people can see through and as we can see leads to imploding internally within the party.
Hehehehehe I watched the clip.
What kind of leadership do we expect from this upnd chaps. nothing .
