Wanderers moves on after Chabinga’s departure

FAZ Super Division side Mufulira Wanderers say they are moving on following the decision by head coach Manfred Chabinga to desert the club at the weekend.

Chabinga on Sunday told journalists that he had left Mighty despite not officially resigning.

He left the Mighty camp hours before Sunday’s home match against Lusaka Tigers which finished goalless at Shinde Stadium citing interference in his duties.

But Wanderers secretary Samuel Kalunga said the club respects Chabinga’s decision to leave the legendary.

“Manfred Chabinga has disappeared but he has not pushed in his resignation. He has resigned in the media but we are yet to get it from him,” Kalunga said.

“Since he has told the media we are definitely moving on. It is his choice so we respect it,” he said.

Kalunga refuted Chabinga’s allegations suggesting that officials were meddling in his duties.

“There is no one who has been interfering in his duties. Whatever he means by interference we don’t we understand it,” he added.

Wanderers are seventh on the table with 7 points from 6 matches played.

  1. Problem with Mighty is the supporters.
Another thing is the coach is wrong to abandon the team in this way its unprofessional.
The Wanderers executive committee have no respect for former Wanderers players whom they dont regard and are made to pay to watch Mighty home games. That is unacceptable. The officials must embrace everyone who has contributed to Mufulira wanderers.

  2. There is just more to this. a head coach can’t just abandon the team. The Wanderers executive committee must explain this. The team needs more support. Why let plays like Jacob Ngulube go just like that. The sponsers must also not just concentrate on Nkana leaving out Mighty.
Mighty we are there for you.

  3. Chabinga is old enough to know how things are done. You just don’t abandon your work station.Even Mourinho who can easily get a job wouldn’t for this. You put in notice. If iam a potential employer I would be reluctant to consider him. Very childish

  4. Whats happening at Mighty? Can someone tell us. LT send investigative reporters to Chawama or are you understaffed?
