The Ministry of Agriculture offices in Mazabuka burns to ashes

THE Mazabuka district agricultural office has burnt to ashes, leaving property worth millions of kwacha destroyed.

Southern Province police commissioner Godwin Phiri confirmed the incident in a statement yesterday.

A check by ZANIS around 03: 00 hours this morning found the building which houses thirteen different staff offices completely gutted.

Oscar Sitali, a watchman at the premises said he did not know where the fire came from.

Mr. Sitali said he only saw smoke coming from the District Agricultural Coordinator’s (DACO) office around 02:30 hours and that his efforts to put off the inferno using water from the tap proved futile.

He complained that no fire tender came on sight despite reporting the fire to authorities on time a move that lead to the entire building and its property completely burning to ashes.

The visibly shaken watchman said it was possible that some people could have torched the unfenced building because of its isolated location.

And the District Agriculture Information Officer Chisombu Dyaunka who was found on the scene lamented that he had lost vital documents in the inferno.

  1. UPND you think burning markets and government offices will reverse your elections loss.
You are very dull. Now you have no ministry of agriculture in Mazabuka. You shall be made to travel to Choma or Lusaka for your agricultural needs.
GBV and Kaponya (HH) live in Lusaka and now you will suffer alone. You are very dull useless UPND

    • This a ploy PF force the southern people to recognise Lungu as caring president when he goes to launch the rebuilding of these burnt up places or gives money to people who loose their belonging in the fires. Some of us having on earth some time now know and understand the dictatorial gimmicks that dictators like Lungu use to force or coerce people to recognise him.

All these fires I believe are caused by PF to punish the people they think did not vote for Lungu as Lungu is well aware that he lost these elections pants down.

    • Why rush such incidents to being political and not probably an insiders job wanting to destroy evidence of some sort? Its either an electrical fault triggered the fire or deliberate complicity!

  2. I think mental hospitals shud b built in the entire province it seems these pipo a getting mad at last they will start burning their houses and children cos of the freemanson who will just introduce evil in the country and nothing gud

  3. This govt should stop being casual. What else do they need to know that our friends mean evil? For you selfish hyenas go to Tanzania and see how opposition behave.

There is no serious democracy in Tanzania. An impoverished country that has not changed the ruling party since independence cannot be a good example of democracy. The Ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party has nothing to show for their stay in power but as usual in Africa, they use unconventional means to cling to power. If there was any democracy to talk of in Tanzania, the ruling parties would’ve been changing so that parties can be competing to develop that country. That’s how I look at things my friend.

  4. We shall see if burning offices and killing Bembas and Ngonis will take you to state house. What Tonga’s need to do is to have a meeting and look at the issue of being selfish. Let them start sharing with every tribe. That’s what will make the go to state house. As long as they will continue being selfish and tribal they will see state house but they will not be there. Who can vote for what will destroy him?

  5. How can there me laugh k of security at a government building. This goes to show that the pf does not care about the South. This could easily be part of kambwilis plans to cleanse the tongas. I ask all our supporters to remain vigilant and effect citizens arrest on pf thugs

  6. Liberating Zambia through burning buildings kiss my ass. People should start reflect on what went wrong and start working on that. The voters have moved on

    • @8 The One,your judgement of democracy is wrong! Democracy is not judged by the number of political parties that ascend to power but by the availability of a credible political system that allows competition of ideas on governance and freedom to participate in such a system. Are you saying Botswana is not democracy with BDP in power since 1966? Chama Cha Mapinduzi(CCM) has always proved to be an agent of change living to the dictates of times, proving relevant to the majority of Tanzanians. Even under one party state,CCM introduced term limits for their party, thus republican president after Nyerere stepped down. They stayed relevant as people started seeing change in leadership. It steered itself carefully from socialism to open market. All these are complete opposites to Zambia!
