Two juveniles of Matero Township died on the way to Chingwere first level Hospital in Lusaka after they consumed doom given to them by their mother.
This happened on Tuesday between 19:00 hours and 20: 00 Hours.
The victims have been identified as female juvenile Mwenchi Nakazwe aged five years and male Juvenile Dason Sikazwe aged one year nine months.
The mother who later consumed the same substance has been identified as Mirriam Mulenga aged 32.
The reason for her actions have not yet been established.
The bodies of the deceased persons are in UTH mortuary while the suspect who is the mother to the deceased juveniles is admitted at UTH and she is now in a stable condition.
Police Spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo confirmed the development in a statement.

Where is the father! Women take on so much in Zambia.
Terribly sad story. The mother survived and now she will have to face prison living conditions. Poverty is such a curse in this world.

Don’t judge her fast, what if she sent her daughter to buy ka pamela then Uunga wakaeena was poisned that why they all eat? What if one of her children sprayed the doom in soup? What if someone who does not love them came and poisoned them? What if it was not intentional but acted under duress? who said mother poisoned the children because everyone was in conscious stage? so let my tribe cousin recover then she will tell us. Its good that she survived and face the full wrath of the law the anguish of killing her children. She should be nowhere near doom, a rope, kansimbi, etc.
This story is unclear. No body knows whether it is a suicide or she and her children were poisoned by somebody else. There is no suicide note and it could even be accidental as she had small kids who could have added the Doom to water or food without any knowledge of the consequences.
