Mr. Mabumba disclosed this when he addressed civil servants in Kasama.
He says Government has made tangible progress in the upgrading of Chishimba hydro-power station from its current 6 megawatts to 15 megawatts.
Mr. Mabumba said his ministry has since engaged a foreign contractor to upgrade the Chishimba power project.
The Minister also revealed that Government has also found a developer to carry out works on Kalungwishi power generation project which will generate about 247 megawatts in Mporokoso district.
Mr. Mabumba said once the two projects are done the province will have three hydro-power stations in total including the newly opened Lunzuwa hydro-power station in Mpulungu district.
He observed that Northern Province will also be self-sufficient in terms of power supply once all the projects under construction are concluded.
And Northern Province Permanent Secretary Jobbicks Kalumba has commended the Ministry of Energy for efforts made in accelerating power generation projects in the region.
Dr. Kalumba noted that ZESCO has already started connecting Kalambo water falls area in Mbala to the national grid.
He said this will help boost tourism and other social economic activities in different parts of the province once the projects are complete.
