Outbreak of water borne diseases looms at Milenge Boarding Secondary School

More than 400 pupils  at Milenge Boarding Secondary School in Milenge District in  Luapula Province are at risk of suffering from water borne disease owing to poor sanitary conditions at the learning  institution.

ZANIS reports that Milenge Secondary School head master Matula Sichone confirmed the development in an interview adding that an outbreak of communicable diseases was looming at the learning facility.

Mr. Sichone said the school population currently depend on the six pit latrines and the school has no running water.

He complained that the situation has been worsened by the lack of piped water that has made it impossible to use the water borne toilets.

Mr. Sichone observed that the situation has put the pupils at the risk of contracting water borne disease such diarrhoea, among others.

The head master said though the school has a water reticulation system, it is not operational because the institution is not yet connected to the national power grid adding that despite the availability of a power generator , his management has limited resources to operate it.

    • PF bandits have been channelling resources meant for real development to buy teargasses & use them to persecute innocent people & opposition parties.

This is the wreckless PF who squandered $1.5 million to just consult with PF bandits whether Zambia should leave ICC~instead of funding schools.
Worse off, more 400 nurses & doctors have not been paid for over 6 month. University students & lecturers are other victims of this failed PF leadership.
Close up the school & do some cleaning. Students need a healthy environment to learn effectively & not at a school infested with faecal matter.

  1. The Luapula river and the school are less than 1 kilometer apart. Please Govt, tell us sensible things! Surely you want Jesus to come from heaven to come and connect water when He has provided the resource to the school door step?? Teti umuntu achite understand ngamano yachepa nangu buwelewelefye!

  2. Bushe twalikwata kamfulumfulu kwena? Failing to sort out such an easy problem. Lungu must fall!
