The Patriotic Front-PF has been quoted in some sections of the media stating that the dialogue will only go ahead if Mr Hichilema recognises Mr Edgar Lungu as the President.But Mr Hichilema said that the process of dialogue is unavoidable with the current disregard of the rule of law and criminal justice system by the PF Government.
Meanwhile, the MMD says Zambians should be embarrassed of themselves for needing a referee to come supervise them to dialogue when they have institutions that resolve their differences.
And the former ruling party warned the Commonwealth not to fall in the trap of the UPND gimmicks of using the dialogue process to remain relevant politically.
Commenting on the just released road map for dialogue by the commonwealth MMD National Secretary Raphael Nakacinda said the country has mechanisms that can be used to resolve conflicts without bringing outsiders.
He said there is no political will in resolving conflicts among political stakeholders as they are only talking about dialogue when the Commonwealth delegation is in the country and are mute on the issue when they leave.
“There are mechanisms among ourselves as political parties which we can encourage and foster dialogue but there is no political will. We have ZCID which has worked to achieve meaningful dialogue among political players and it has been done before in the past but how come today that platform is not utilised.
“When the commonwealth comes everyone is stampeding to go and meet Professor Gambari and try to talk about this so called dialogue but when the delegation leaves there is no talk about dialogue so it is a fallacy, its just political gimmicks that should not be entertained. Actually we the Zambians must be embarrassed that we have to be supervised by somebody for us to talk and resolve our issues,” he said.
And Mr Nakacinda says the Commonwealth should wary of the UPND’s political gimmicks as the UPND are using the intervention from them to sustain a political agenda of equating President Lungu and their leader.
He said the UPND will continue using dialogue to create an impression that their leader is the only option in the absence of President Lungu.
“We are also aware that the upnd are basically attempting to use this intervention from the commonwealth in sustainable manner to advance their narrow political agenda. Provided there is some impression that there is tension or conflict it makes the upnd relevant.
“They are pushing an agenda of equating HH and Edgar Lungu and give an impression that in the absence of President Edgar Lungu the only option is HH. That type of cheap politics must be seen for what it is, and the Commonwealth must be warned that they risk being used for very selfish and narrow political agenda. Professor Gambari and his team must be careful that they don’t end up in that trap,” he said.
Continuing to disregard the will of the people by not recognizing a sitting President whilst agitating for dialogue with the same President is a precondition.
The commonwealth man must so dull to fall by the trap of an under5. What he should push for is to remind oval head that ecl is the Republican president whom he should give respect before any dialogue commences. Ecl has done better by referring this useless dialogue to zcid for deliberations. If I were him I would’ve refered him to dialogue with the lowest organ of the party.
The MMD faction SG doesn’t understand what the dialogue process is all. He’s saying this because he knows that him and his illegal splinter leader can never stand or win an election. Of course this is between PF and UPND because one of them contested the election outcome.
UPND is at the center of this dialogue because they don’t want a repeat of what happened in 2016. They want systems to be strengthened and operate independently so elections can be free and fair for everyone including the real MMD not your splinter group.
I do not understand HH. he is the one who wrote a big document of conditions before dialogue, is he(HH) saying he is not ready? his he talking about himself or he is too arrogant? his he normal? his he mature? has he dropped the conditions after the president told him to withdraw if he wanted because of the conditions he attached to it? I cant understand.

Nakacinda its because Zambians are docile and incapable of resolving their own issues that’s why Patricia is doing it for you. Politicians like you are only there and vocal when it comes to attacking other parties with empty statements. The question is what has your MMD faction done to contribute to that dialogue process? Show what you have done then criticize. My take on this, is that this dialogue circus will never advance anywhere as long as the concourt doesn’t make a ruling on ECL eligibility for 2021. And by that time, it will be too late to make any constitutional changes in readiness for 2021, hence the same chaos will prevail or at least the same rigging circus will be on the table.
It doesn’t matter how long you stay in power as an illegal president as seen from scenes in Zimbabwe where old Bob thought he was untouchable but the people will always triumph in the end. It would be utter madness to recognise Lungu as President of Zambis when evidence of massive rigging brutality is out there for all to see. PF and the President breached the consitution on many occassions with impunity.
The refusal of Ministers to hand over power during election is of many systematic rigging PF embarked on. Other forms of rigging were in form of denying and cancelling of campaign permits including the brutality against UPND members.
Lungu is am illegitimate president period.
PF is in power at least up to 2021, that is a given fact that only you somehow vexatiously disputes and it is not a condition. Recognize the elected President otherwise who are you having that dialogue with?
