Lions terrorising Isoka villagers

Three lions are reportedly terrorising villagers in two chiefdoms of Isoka district in Northern Province.

Isoka District Commissioner (DC) Henry Mukungule confirmed the development to ZANIS in an interview today and named the two affected chiefdoms as chief Mweniwisi and sub-chief Mwenitambo of Mpungu ward in Isoka east constituency.

Mr Mukungule said the beasts have so far killed eight herds of cattle in chief Mweniwisi’s area and one in sub-chief Mwenitambo.

The DC has since appealed to the Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA)to quickly dispatch officers to crop the beasts before they start attacking people.

Mr Mukungule said villagers in both Mweniwisi and Mwenitambo were now spending nights in their kraals in a bid to protect their herds of cattle.

Chief Mweniwisi also confirmed the development to ZANIS in a separate interview. He said the presence of the lions in the areas, had led to people’s movements being restricted as they feared for their lives.

  1. Tell them to hire some Masaai men to come and kill those beast, threatening human lives in Isoka!!!

  2. Maybe you guys also stole salt (chibwa) from Mpika, if you did then those lions ( Bana Mweleu) will only go away after they have feasted on the thieves. We shall also start consulting Lions to help us with those who have been stealing government coffers, since our courts seem to be meant to protect them. Now they are even showing off that they are anointed and are not the Little Thieves of Baghdad.

  3. Are my people going to have peace this year, firstly politicians terrorize them, then even beasts want to join the frey; it is time Zambians awoke and did something.

  4. … disorganized; why should we be terrorized by wild animals; where is the national service, where is the army! What if our enemies have sent these animals – the Armed forces should be there to handle the issue and ensure the citizens’ safety. They do little or nothing anyway. This’ll be a chance for them to test their skilz and for us to see them in action.

  5. Hey #1!!! take it easy . . . the same villegers have finished all the animals in the wild (food for lions) . . . where do you want the lions to go for an easy meal. ZAWA should drive them back in the park . . . . you never know maybe there are the last three lions in Zambia . . . . nipa Zed pano ka. Don’t KILLLL THEEEEM

  6. Kasama Boy!!! # 2 .. . . yaaaaah Amen to that!!!! thats a good one . . . . bukabwalala nabuchilamo . . . abena mweleu bakali . . . . . maaaaah. you have made my day
