19 year old commits suicide after quarrel

A 19 year old girl of Muzabwera compound in Mpulungu has committed suicide after allegedly quarreling with her mother over the deceased’s two week old baby.
Veronica Namutengu is reported to have taken an overdose of indocide
around 18:00hrs on Monday.
Some sources from the same compound confirmed that the girl’s mother had strongly rebuked her for having a child outside wedlock and whose father cannot even take care of her.
The sources said after the reprimand, Veronica took about 10 capsules of indocide and went to sleep. She was later found dead.

Veronica has since been buried at Musende village and leaves behind her two week old infant.

Meanwhile police sources yesterday confirmed that a 13 year old boy drowned in Lake Tanganyika over the weekend when he went swimming with his friends at Musende bay.

Sources said while the boys were swimming, they noticed that their friend had suddenly disappeared in the water prompting them to hurry out and report the matter to adults.
The adults and other well wishers then conducted a search around the location of the incident. The body was discovered trapped in reeds three hours later.
The boy has since been buried.

  1. The mother to the dead girl must have tormented her for months. Surely she knew the daughter was pregnant all this time, and that the man responsible is not responsible. Let her take care of the baby now.

    This is a sad story.

  2. now the two week baby will struggle through out his or her life since this grandmother has considering her/him as a bustard child from the word go, who has unresponsible father

  3. Sad story. In the Bible, Paul sternly warns Christian parents not to be too angry with their children. There’s always a solution to every problem.

  4. Shame on the girl for taking her own life. We all make mistakes and are rebuked but we never kill ourselves. Its better to apologize and learn from your mistakes. God help her soul!

  5. I just listened to the speech by Gadhafi at UN in New York. I kind of agree with him. Africa should have a permanent seat on the security council and that the UN should be rotated around thw world and not just in New York.

  6. No need to blame the mother. The young mother probably suffered from post natal deppression which can lead to suicide.

  7. i wish to agree with Dr munsaje that the UN should be rotating around the world and that Africa should have a permanent seat .i also call upon people like Gadaffi to step down and let other young people rule.if he is truely a democrat………………..or is he just an advisor on things that he doesnt practice.
