Chief Government spokesperson Lieutenant General Ronnie Shikapwasha says government is doing every possible to ensure that the causation of the current fuel shortages until Indeni Oil Refinery Company becomes operational.
Lt Gen Shikapwasha said some fuel tankers have been cleared from the port of Beira in Mozambique and Chirundu is expected to resolve the shortage of diesel in Lusaka and the Copperbelt
He added that the fuel will be in the country during the course of the week and advised the motorist to be patient with the fuel issue as government is trying it bring the situation for fuel back to normal in the country.
Speaking to ZANIS in an interview Reverend Shikapwasha who is also Information and Broadcasting Minister said there is need to give Energy Minister Kenneth Konga chance as the minister is working hard to ensure speedy delivery of the commodity.
Rev Shikapwasha however advised Forum for Democratic Development (FDD) Edith Nawakwi for her to be patient than to criticize President Rupiah Banda.
The minister said it was not necessary for Mrs Nawakwi to utter such utterances over the head of state adding that there is need to respect president Banda.
He was reacting to FDD leader Edith Nawakwi concerns on the continued fuel crisis in the country.
ZANIS
Poor Management, period. What a government we have, shallow headed from the top to the bottom. Nansoni muliye, Atase!
The problem is that we have jokers for leaders
well done government. Its sad that OMCs have plenty of stock in Dar and south waiting for the govt to remove duty so they can make more profit.. Everyone has got to pay tax people.
SHAMELESS GOVT WE HAVE……MADIMBIKILO POLITICIANS, NO DIRECTION WHATSOEVER!!!!!
Shame you shika! Dont blub about what you dont know, just because you have such BIG mouth and you are so full of your dumb self!
be patient! this govt is a joke. fuel crisis, my foot. we are surely going to send these clowns packing in 2011, the only problem is we are going to replace them with other circus characters. there is no solid leadership in this country. well, i guess in a country that has embraced mediocrity, average is more than adequate.
Busy pre occupied with postponing the Convention than managing the economy – Ala!!!. Is this the EXCEPTINAlly WELL that VJ was talking about?? Mulongoti can’t even comment
Obviously whatever government is doing is not enough otherwise we would have had fuel by now.
Worse things are yet to come with this RB as a president of Zambia. This human being doesn’t seem to know why he is a president. This government expects people to be patient for two month?
What is Rev Ronnie talking about . This shortage of fuel is bad. Pipo are driving all over the city looking for the fuel unless he is living on another planet. We need the Govt and its leadership to run public affairs in a responsible manner. What auntie Eddie said was plain truth. Shikapwasha should learn to call a spade a spade. Leaders shoud not always view those who offer constructive critism as worst enemies. The country should be managed with long term plans not like chimbwe no plan.
Cha ona muzako mailo chilipali iwe. Insulting RB will not get us fuel. We can insult all we can but fuel will not come through insults.
The best thing that people like edith Nawakwi, could do as former Ministers under the Chiluba error (the so called lost decade), and people who are really affected by this fuel sortage, unlike us in the diaspora, should do is counter govts failure by providing alternative plans or direction. In so doing the public, we will see your potential as former minister, and may be you will rsolve the issue much quicker than through insults!
Alternative plans can only be given to people who listen!!
mr jooste, i’ll just echo wat my man ba moze has said, the govt does not listen. u can shove plausible alternative solutions up their buttholes but as long as the idea was not originated by one of them, it won’t be given the time of day. ur advice wud be well applied in an ideal situation, but this, my friend, with our self proclaimed stubborn president, is as far from an ideal situation as u will ever get.
Have we as a country ever considered importing crude oil from our nearby African neighbours such as Angola?maybe that would improve the fuel situation and spare us the Circus by the Mobile Clowns
#11, How can some one advise chaps who say there is no fuel shortages and that everything is under control. They have been saying all along that the trucks are at the boarder waiting to be cleared for a month now. You can only give advise to people who accept that there is a fuel crisis and that they have failed to solve it.
you GRZ spokes man, this issue is not that kaonga is working hard to see trucks come,
the issue is that there is a repeated crisis, again and again. How much has this cost GRZ ?, ooyaa i forgot you dont care becuse the expenses are passed on to the man in the street. You see mr minister accountability is the only solution. Whos fault is it that we ahave a fuel shortage ?. You are so dull you will say nobodies fault. Forget about RB being
in meeting and kaonga not sleeping to fix thiss problem, the issue is why is there a problem ? why werent safe guards put in place ? didnt you learn from the past fuel shortages
Heey you Guys leave alone the self proclaimed sturbon president RB. RB has told you that he is sturnbon – meaning that he does not listen to any person but only to himself. He is also misled by his Ministers because of his being sturbon and he sees nothing wrong in being misled because he is sturbon. This is a historical president for zambia even beter than the Thief chiluba. Long live sturbon president, long live munshebwa, long live world trotter. Long live RB!!!!!!!!!!!
Uli cipuba Cishikapwasha. You think Zambia have no brains to be lied to in the morning, noon and evening. This country will never progress because we have put people who are dull to lead us. This whole problem boaders at electrates. I would suggest we allow only people who understand democracy to vote not every Jim and Jack. Minimum qualification grade 9 kwasila.
Interesting reading, Here i am thinking of where am going to get my next 10 Litres of petrol , when i should be working
Jokers with expired faces and minds. Was wondering when he was going to come out and say something. Real problem in the nation-2 sentences per hour, insult opposition/ boot lick 100 words per second. Goes to show!
Any bloggers you can now blog on the POST website free. Ala you should see the pics they have in their gallery up there-not for the faint hearted!
My deduction about the latest shortage is the sudden reversal by Govt to resind the increase as anounced by The Energy Regulation Board. Yesterday what i noticed is that a couple of filling stations had the commodity in the morning, but by lunch time they had run out of the stocks Why?? The encouraging comments from Govt are okay, but they should be seen to be realistic. not every day they are saying the situation is under control how???
It will be best if you keep quiet Shikapwasha coz opening that mouth and letting go of those stinkin words, makes the whole situation damn!
Just concentrate on the countdown to 2011 polls and consider acquiring a farm where u will settle with your family
My cousin in Zed just told me that she went to a certain gas station and she was told there was no fuel, but there was ahuge line of GRZ cars getting Petrol and Diesel. THE PEOPLE SHOULD ALWAYS COME FIRST. Reverend Satana burn in hell.
