Central Province Minister Sydney Mushanga says the successful attainment of Zambia’s goal of being a prosperous middle-income by 2030 begins with transforming the country into a healthy nation of productive people.
Mr Mushanga however, said improving the health of the nation cannot be attained without addressing the problem of maternal, infant and child mortality in the country.
The minister said this over the weekend during the official handover of a pediatric ward and maternity annex by Kabwe Hindu Association (KHA), at Mahatma Ghandi Memorial Clinic.
The ward and martenity wing were constructed at a cost of 80, 000 United States dollars.
Mr Mushanga said government has continued to prioritize health service provision and that the opening of the maternity wing and pediatric ward at the facility will improve the quality of health care services in the district.
He said taking health services as closer to the family as possible is the effective way to reach the country’s 2030 vision.
Mr Mushanga said that government has made tremendous effort to improve the quality of health services throughout the country and thanked all sector partners such as for their commitment.
He further, said government will continue to invest in health infrastructure in order to have enough health facilities to meet the increasing demand in the country.
Meanwhile, KHA Chairperson Anil Desai, said time is ripe for Kabwe Central Member of Parliament (MP), Tutwa Ngulube, to pursue the dream of upgrading the health facility to a hospital status.
Mr Desai hoped that the opening of the maternity annex and the pediatric ward at the facility will be a true mirror of excellence and help decongest Kabwe Central Hospital.
He said Mahatma Ghandi is one of the few great leaders of the world who stood for the vulnerable and under-privileged in society.
Mr Desai noted that Mahatma Ghandi Memorial Clinic was constructed in 1980 to commemorate his centenary.
And that “transformation” (LoL) has started by institutionalizing rampant corruption, transforming ZPS into PF armed wing, appointing legal failures to the bench of Constitutional Court, abolishing Constitutional Rights and Freedoms, mortgaging National assets with predatory Chinese lenders, senseless brutality and killing with impunity of innocent youths by the “highly trained” (LoL) Police, money laundering on industrial scale, collapse of the Rule of Law, presiding over politicizing of Judiciary, officially mocking the God by staging prayers led by the Endemically Corrupt Leader, issuing illegal incentives thru ZDA, using ZRA for settling political dissent, …….?
Is this “transformation” you are supporting Honorable (LoL) Minister?
Did they have a permit for this handover? The police should have pounced on them and arrested them for unlawful assembly.
