Share

The Anti-Corruption Commission has commenced investigations into allegations of corruption involving Former Football Association of Zambia Vice President Boniface Mwamelo.

This follows revelation made recently by FIFA alleging that Mr. Mwamelo received bribes from a named international match fixer to force the Zambia National Soccer Team to lose during the 2010 Cairo Olympics Tournament so that the international match fixer wins football bets.

Meanwhile, the Commission has charged and arrested Kingsley Muchindu Siasinyanga, the Director of Finance at Mongu Municipal Council, for one count of Abuse of Authority of Office contrary to Section 21 (1)(a) of the Anti-Corruption Act number 3 of the Laws of Zambia.

Details are that on dates unknown but between 1st August, 2013 and 31st October, 2014, Siasinyanga, jointly and whilst acting together with Kabukabu Sikwibele, Choolwe Maunga Lipenga, Benny Chiyesu and other persons unknown, at Livingstone City Council and being a public officer, namely, Director of Finance then, in the Livingstone City Council, did abuse authority of his office by allocating plots of land to themselves on property number LIV/22251, a matter or transaction concerning the Livingstone City Council, a public body.

Mr. Siasinyanga has since been released on Bond and will appear in court on 3rd April, 2019.

The arrest of Mr. Siasinyanga comes in the wake of the arrest of 14 former Livingstone City Councillors including the current Livingstone Member of Parliament Mr Jere on an allegation of corruption.

So far, the Commission has also arrested three named former Livingstone Council Officials in connection with the same matter.

This is contained in a statement issued to the media by Christopher Chibanku, the ACC Corporate Affairs Officer.

  1. “Me Too” culture in Zambia. The ACC is now a useless and toothless organisation.
While FIFA was investigating Mwemelo they knew nothing and were busy persecuting opponents of the PF.
Today they want to launch investigations.
THE ACC NEEDS TO BE REORGANISED AFTER 2021.

  2. PFoools ACC used as a tool to prosecute political opponents, a bit to late here, FIFA already did the job for you

  3. Did they investigate Kalusha Bwalya, the man who campaigned a certain political party during the 2016 elections?

  4. How do you investigate a matter based on facts from another institution outside of your jurisdiction? These people are very dull, they can’t initiate their own investigation. What will they do? Ask Mwamelo that boi FIFA found you guilty of match fixing that’s why you have 3 corolla motokas so you’re a thief? Coaches collect so much money from players just to win selection into teams and you’re quiet. Football is a corrupt game full of corrupt people

  5. How can ACC investigate when fifa already done their job.ACC is always
    Late.when Fifa do their job it’s 100%.

  6. If found guilty they should lock him up for a long time. It’s people who do such things that are capable of selling their country to an enemy for 30 pieces of silver.

  7. It’s idling really fir the ACC tI fail to investigate the so many corruption scandals in Zambia. They ought to conduct their work on reactive nd non reactive information. They ought not to wait for reports, mbut they must socialize and Ming,e with the local community and keep abreast with mordern technology by ready all various resources globally. When they come accross certain information, money must investigate and arrest. Not like in Mwamelo’s case. FIF did their job, and let them pick the pieces from FIFA and investigate and prosecute him , for such March fixing. It’s the Zambia March he fixed, so they can nick him on that. I have given thenACC a lot of information regarding systematic abuses of the judicial process in facilitating, concealing crimes, money laundering and various…
