The National Restoration Party is hopeful President Edgar Lungu will use his visit to the Copperbelt to see the need to re-open the Copperbelt University and to make sure the staff and lecturers are paid on time.

NAREP Secretary General Ezra Ngulube said his party is concerned that leaving CBU closed is creating a time bomb for youth unemployment which is already a source of concern.

Mr. Ngulube said because of this situation, government must not allow the closure of essential institutions like Universities.

“We also pray that God helps the President to find money and make sure the staff and lecturers are paid on time. There is so much illicit money as we have heard from the FIC report 2019”, he added.

President Edgar Lungu is on the Copperbelt for a two-day working visit and is expected to officiate at this year’s Copperbelt Mining, Agricultural and Industrial Exposition at the Kitwe Show grounds.

  1. Without discriminating against mental illnesses, the number of mad people is on the rise in Zambia. This new group of mad people, on a daily basis engages in wishful thinking. They spend inordinate amounts of time thinking that the pee-eff government will do something to solve the problems the pee-eff have created.

    • NO NO NO NO!!!! DO NOT OPEN THIS UNIVERSITY!!! IT IS FULL OF UNRULY LECTURERS AND STUDENTS.
The lecturerers can trek to Botswana, RSA or Lesotho if they so wish. Students can enrol at Cavendish, Apex or UNILUS if they are serious about their education. OPENING IT AGAIN ???/ NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  2. The students and lecturers at CBU do not value education themselves. Why worry about the political students who are their to demonstrate and destroy property. Those who followed blindly have now received their sight, turn the university to a government motel and it it will benefit the nation.

    • UNRULY Senseless students must realise that violence does not pay!!! Muzakamba muzalema…..CBU will not be opened. Maybe in 2034!

  3. Zambia is not about unruly CBU students we cannot be talking about political lecturers and students all the time let them rot they thought they’re bigger than the country but they are useless now

  4. Those unruly students being referred to are Zambian citizens with there fore a right to education. We know why these children demonstrate violently. Let us stop burying our proverbial heads in the sand. Solve the actual problem.

  5. umugoregore, the actual problem is that they have become political. political solution to the political problem is closure period.
