George Kunda Is an Inept Vice President

Share

By Henry Kyambalesa

It has now become clear that Comrade George Kunda is not competent enough in discharging his duties as our beloved country’s Vice President and Minister of Justice. He is too petty to hold such key positions in our country’s national government.

A few examples of his pettiness are perhaps in order at this juncture: he has accused the PF of having an archaic constitution plagiarized from the UNIP government; he has accused Michael Sata of being a sadist and senseless person not having the intellect that could match the people that are members of the NCC; and he has accused Hakainde Hichilema of having deviated from UPND’s original philosophy of inclusiveness and non-tribal stance.

Besides, he has urged PF/UPND members who are allegedly not happy with the happenings in the pact to join the MMD; and, among many other partisan remarks, he has urged Hichilema to consider abandoning the PF/UPND pact because of PF leaders’ alleged incessant attacks on UPND Members of Parliament.

What more, he has alleged that tribalism is illegal in Zambia. Well, if it is actually illegal, why has he not directed the police to charge those he is accusing of the vice, such as Michael Sata?

And not too long ago, Kunda accused Fred M’membe of trying to take over state power by scheming to control the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and other constitutional offices for the purpose of making money.

As Vice President, Kunda is expected to preside over Cabinet and/or govern the nation if and when any of the following obtains with respect to the incumbent Republican President: absence from office, resignation, impeachment, death, or incapacitation (mental or physical). Unfortunately, his behavior of trying to weaken opposition political parties is inimical to the functioning of our nascent democracy.

Moreover, he is seemingly spending too much time engaging in a perpetual campaign designed to discredit opposition political parties. We need leaders who understand the need to make a quick transition from campaigning to governing upon being appointed or elected to positions of authority. We also need leaders who are at peace with having competitive political parties, a diversity of interest groups, a vibrant civil society, and a free press.

Besides, we need leaders who recognize the right of citizens to vote for candidates of their choice without being threatened that their communities will be excluded from the development process if they do not vote for candidates fielded by the ruling political party. After all, every person and every place in our beloved country deserves a fair share of the national cake!

Our beloved country is currently experiencing unprecedented socio-economic problems which Kunda and the entire Rupiah Banda administration should be addressing. For instance, tens of thousands of Grade 7 and Grade 9 students have continued to be spilled onto the streets every year, the healthcare system cannot meet the basic needs of the majority of citizens, the majority of Zambians have no access to clean water and electricity, there is a critical shortage of decent public housing nationwide, public infrastructure and services are still deficient, civil servants are still not adequately compensated for their services, a lot of civil service retirees cannot get their hard-earned benefits, and, among many other socio-economic ills, crime and unemployment are still widespread.

These problems affect us all in spite of the different political parties we belong to, the different languages we speak, or the 73 different tribes to which we belong. And we have the same dreams as members of the Zambian family; among other things, we all want a smaller and more efficient government, free formal education without Grades 7 and 9 elimination examinations, no examination fees, merit-based scholarships for vocational training and university education, low-interest educational loans, free life-saving healthcare for all Zambians, greater and sustained food security, and greater employment opportunities.

Moreover, we all want lower Pay-As-You-Earn and value-added taxes, lower interest rates, safer local communities, improved public infrastructure, improvements in garbage collection and disposal, improved socio-economic conditions in rural areas, speedy rural electrification, abolition of TV licensing and fees, lower water charges and electricity tariffs, a system of justice that is free and impartial in both word and deed, greater participation by women in national affairs, greater care for children and the handicapped, sustained protection of the fragile natural environment, preservation of our cultural values and traditions, a genuine effort to address the scourge of corruption, and consolidation of our oneness and common future as members of the Zambian family.

Zambia is clearly in dire need of a new cadre of leaders – leaders who have a genuine desire to pursue radical, comprehensive and well-conceived change that is designed to lift our beloved country from its current socio-economic decay and backwardness.

  1. If this chap Henry Kyambalesa was not dangerously incompetent himself, he wouldn’t have been a political crosstitute shifting camps with his internet based party intermittently during election seasons one to another. Within 10 years of declaring himself the Agenda for Change President, he has been on a sales spree of his so called party to fellow deluded bidders. He started with late Chama chakomboka, Dean Mung’omba, Tenthani Mwanza’s Socialist Revolutionary Front, Miyanda’s Heritage Party where he sold him the Village Concept, then now chasing the wind on the market.

  2. Look at this so called Senior Citizen. Instead of addressing issues raised in the article, he goes for the throat of the writer. What a failure!

  3. Instead of Henry Kyambalesa investigating and challenging what the better informed VP raised, the empty handed Kyambalesa in his trolling errands invokes his natural demon of envy, jealous, witch hunting, insults and empty headed vilifying behavior with delusion that RB would heed him and era by dismissing His Honor George Kunda off the chain of command. Is it surprising that someone who is older than VP Kunda yet without history of career stability could be insulting the VP who has an excelled service history in public and private? This is a chap who fails to hold jobs even in community colleges because employers fire him for unparallel ineptitude but laden with dead-end theories. I challenge him to defend his delusion on the Village concept he shoved on Miyanda.

  4. Senior Citizen
Calm down, if lose temper and become so emotional the credit will be with Henry. Do not miss the point so am made doubt you and priase Henry. You should satr attacking someone unnecessarily.Shame on you.

  5. zambia needs a serious earthquake that should hit manda hill (parliament) when in session so that all those corrupt leaders can be extinct.

  6. That is a nice one zoron. Just ask the Pentagon. They can unleash a well controlled one using their HAARP technology and those empty heads can be buried in seconds.

  7. Senior Citizen, What drugs are you on?Why are you such a big ass licker? Can’t you see sense in what the young man is saying? I phoned George and advised him on this issue and he was humble enough as a friend to accept his mistakes and an ass licker like yourself can only blindly support anything. At first the opposition was blamed for the floods in Lusaka and then George changed his position .You actually behave like you were trained by the Soviet Communist Party(propaganda wing). You are the modern day version of comical Ali in the last days of the Sadam regime. Please grow up.You use quotes from the soviet era communist propaganda weekly magazines. You are still on GRZ payroll in Washington. Will your position be the same should a new Govt come in? You are a civil servant, so be quiet

  10. What’s the Job description and personal description of the VP position in Zambia. Can someone please educate us before we make un informed comments.

As for pettiness, one would observe that politics in Zambia is generally petty. The late LPM was quite petty, responding to Sata and others when it would be wiser for him to keep quiet. Sata himself is chief petty. RB is quite petty – listen to his campaign in Kasama. HH started very well and gained the respect of the educated. But he has become petty of late too. I cant remember Mazoka being petty. FTJ was petty, and has continued.

Zambian voters seem to have an appetite for petty issues. See them listening to political speeches at campaign rallies. The media in Zambia sometimes encourages petty issues by reporting them.

  11. Senior Citizen, please think before you blog. The VP has admitted of having made mistakes as a human being regarding some issues, such as his initial comments on the floods in lusaka. He is now asking all zambians to join hands so that we can solve this problem together and yet there are fools like yourself who can,t see sense in this? You are only showing your ignorance but trying to use “bombastic words” to blog. You are not writing a thesis on Quantum Physics, you are meant to share your opinions and ideas with the other bloggers. In the states have you ever heard of a Minister(secretary) attacking the leader of the opposition? What happens if RB decides to recall you because you are not actually doing your job but costing him votes by senselessly blogging rubbish? Please shut the **** up.

  12. Almost 20 years in power what development has the MMD brought? We had a lot of hope in 1991 but can ass lickers like senior citizen point out the development the mmd has brought? It is the duty of every Govt to provide schools, hospitals, roads, security and other basics.Look at the level of unemployment, the state of our roads, power cuts(load sheddings),the quality of education, the state of our hospitals and the list goes on.Will the PACT be any better? Kaya, but lets give them a chance too.I still believe that both Sata and RB should be in retirement.Surely there must be somebody sensible out of 12million people to direct that country to prosperity as long as people with the mindsets of Patriot and Senior Citizen are not part and parcel of the state machinery.I don’t care who rules

  13. who is this **** called senior citibootlicker! a*** that can fail go see substance in the article and he goes for the authors’throat ? he is a***indeed such*** make the website boring to hell MMD burggers

  14. The issues raised by Henry are good, real and serious. They deserve our meditation and support. Surely, the destiny of our country lies in us. We can change the fortunes of our land through the ballot next year. We must work togather to do this. The greatest enemy of our times is MMD and its minion in the form of George, Mike, Shikapwasha you name them. We must fight these evils then Zambia shall be free at last! The winds of changes are turning. I urge you all to rally behind the PACT next year to deliver ourself, our children and our un born children from the impending disastor that the MMD will plungy us into.

  15. Dont worry about senior citizen he was exposed sometime back on ZWD.Heedid some political science fimofimo in the then sovient union,to him politics is about spreading propanganda not providing service to the masses. That is the text book definition he was given during his government sponsored degree way back when KK was still in power.Whatever you say the chap wont listen he has been advised so many times on this blog but to aveil. The man thrives on political rhetoric most of it not even issue based but personal attacks on anyone who seems to be at loggerheads with his employers the the government. The many is a former unipist and a serious supporter of RB not the MMD.So come 2011 it will be painfull for him leaving office just like he did in 1991 with unip.

  16. In kaonde you are henry kyambalesa in ngoni you will be called henry mbanjemulungu or in chinyanja henry dobomulungu and that defines your line of thinking

  17. Good afternoon fellow bloggers. Mr. S.C. why are u attacking the author? U are in USA but yo relatives back home are suffering becoz of the same issues raised by the author. No matter how hard you try to convince the Zambian pipo that MMD is working you are kidding youself becoz Zambians are tired of MMD and no matter who will stand on MMD tickect as presidencial candidate you will lose come 2011.

  18. Hi fellow bloggers. I live in the United Kingdom & I have been a reader of the Lusaka Times for quite sometime now although I have never commented on any story or comments by fellow bloggers todate. I have in theory known bloggers like ‘Nine Chale’, ‘UK-Zed Observer’, ‘Maestro Hehehe’, ‘Zimandola’, ‘Baby C’, Senior Citizen’ etc. For my first post I would like to say, whoever ‘Senior Citizen is, his/her English is very good and his/her thoughts flow in a logical manner. Hats off to the Lusaka Times for bringing us news & lovely pictures about home…keep it up.

  19. It is quite unfortunate that some people cannot see that the clumsiness of our leaders and their failure to perform their duties properly is the main reason why so many of our people are suffering. Instead of taking criticism, they would rather engage in a war of attrition with other bloggers with an emotional viciousness that takes one’s breath away!

  20. #26, i thought we are zambians we can even write in our 73 tribes, so, all you look for is English? Are you English Teacher #26?

  21. it s sad that our intellectuals go into politics they become so useless. Kunda used to be a man of intergrity, but look at him now, he is among the worst ministers in the cabinet. This just goes to show that the degree clause is not Zambia’s saviour.

  22. it s sad that once our intellectuals go into politics they become so useless. Kunda used to be a man of intergrity, but look at him now, he is among the worst ministers in the cabinet. This just goes to show that the degree clause is not Zambia’s saviour.

  23. 🙂 Angel light welcome. Great article, but I still have a problem with the author after his mundane siding with unnatural ideals on his last post.

  24. My question still requires an answer LT, how do I publish an article on your post. Sunday prayers and the word for the day requires true believers to contribute aswell.

  25. Change is definitely gonna come to Zambia. This is and end of an era, MMD in entirety is inept. they should step aside for the PACT. why do Africans like to hold on to power? Look at Yar a dua of Nigeria, the man is incapacitated but he still wants to be president. Kunda and crew are incompetent but they still wanna rule

  26. GEORGE KUNDA HAS NEVER FACED AN ELECTION, HE HAS NEVER BE VOTED FOR AND HE HAS NEVER SEEN A HEATED CAMPAIGN…AND ZAMBIANS NEVER VOTED HIM INTO THAT OFFICE..HE WAS APPOINTED, THEREFORE HE FIRST DUTY IS TO RB…
LOOK ZAMBIANS, FLOODS HAPPEN IN LUSAKA, KUNDA SEND HIS MINISTERS IN HELICOPTER TO VIEW..WHILE HH GOES AS FOOT SOILDER TALKING TO REAL PEOPLE….

  28. Senior Citizen … teka umutima we mwaume. Kyambalesa is only giving his opinion. And how do we tell whether what you are telling the world about the author’s connections to the late Chama Chakomboka, the late Dean Mung’omba, Tenthani Mwanza’s Socialist Revolutionary Front, and Miyanda’s Heritage Party and his Village Concept is actually true? It personally knew Chakomboka and Mung’omba in the Bamba Zonke town, but I never knew Kyambalesa before now. You could as well be just another MMD liar trying to trash the ideas of anyone who dares to criticise MMD leaders. By the way, the latter part of Kyambalesa’s article would sound damn good as a summary of a Manifesto …

  29. Brother SENIOR CITIZEN, the author, Mr. Kyambalesa, was one of my lecturers at the Copperbelt University during the late 1980s. I do not remember him being politically active to mingle with the likes of the late Chama chakomboka, Dean Mung’omba, and others. And Tenthani Mwanza’s Socialist Revolutionary Front? I do not think so; the author must have studied for a Master’s degree in the USA and I cannot see why he could associate with leaders of socialist parties. Try another trick in the MMD trick bag. The issues raised in the article are, however, quite enticing!

  30. masikini, ” #40 You forgot about MUGABE next to our country Zimbabwe look at him? ”

President Mugabe is a revolutionary. Obviously, that means he is reviled in the western corporate press. If you go by the mainstream news, you will NEVER understand what is going on in Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwean government has been under a credit freeze since 2002 (through Sec. 4 C of the Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act), which forced the government to operate on a cash only basis and (as all trade is on credit) turned the 2001 $322 million trade SURPLUS into an $18 million dollar deficit in 2002, the year ZDERA came into force.

By the way a similar strategy was employed against Zambia to force multi-party elections in 1991, and threatened in 1999 to privatize the mines.

  31. The Zimbabwean government was put on a credit freeze to make the land reform program fail – for no other reason. And the MDC/British Government/US government have been lying about the existence of economic sanctions to this very day, calling them ‘restrictive measures’ against (hundreds of) ‘targeted individuals’.

This is because they do not have the guts to own up to their own methods. The know that the second the people of Zimbabwe understand that the economic misery they suffer comes from MDC sanctions, the MDC becomes unelectable.

The war against Zimbabwe is an economic hit (to use the jargon of John Perkins) and an example of the Shock Doctrine in action – destroy the currency and economy, then claim you have the solution – privatisation, deregulation and corporate free…

  32. I missed out on this one due to a tight work schedule. The article is a good one, generally. I do not understand the outrage by SENIOR CITIZEN, though; the author has clearly outlined his reasons for claiming that the veep is petty. SENIOR CITIZEN needs to learn to give reasons why he disagrees with Kyambalesa rather than feed other bloggers with what seems to be falsehoods about the author’s past associations with some of the deceased politicians. That’s how we can have a civil debate, not ukulabosa bosa kwati ni mbwa.

  33. I think there is something wrong with senior citizen, especially when it come with dealling with specific issues. Can somebody help him pliz?

  34. iwe henry, why do you always condemn almost everything about the govt? ukeshe, we see how competent you are. yes, we have had horrible leaders in the country but if you think you can do better then try. do you ever get to appriciate anything, even the little things that one does?

  35. this henry chap is aself professed hom-o-se-x-u-al. he like putin things in his bums. evidence is seen by the kak he writes. his family disowned him and he frequents g-a-y strip clubs and touches litle boys. he even slept with his own brother, what a pathetic dic sukin quak. i hope he dies in hell. and the devil cums in his bums

  36. Who is this ZODIE DUBE who is like SENIOR CITIZEN? As Pandora’s Paradox has advised SENIOR CITIZEN at posting number 49, you need to learn to give reasons why you disagree with Henry rather than feed other bloggers with what seems to be falsehoods about the author. Henry is our President in Agenda for Change party; he does not fit the profile you are ascribing to him. I went to school with him at Solwezi Boys. He perhaps lives in Lusaka with his wife and children, and I do not think he ever goes to clubs since he is a dovoted Christian. From your language, you sound like George Kunda masquerading as ZODIE DUBE, with red lips resulting from constant licking of RB’s ass.

  37. u see mudia yeta – agenda for change is a pathetic club of bloggers who sleep with each other. a ho-mo party. u sleep with dogs, your own brethren as well as mmembe. from solwezi boys while u wer fingering henry, u realised u had a greater callin, to be a barren bloger ppretending with henry to be christian but are lucifer followers.you are paedophiles. bum sniffin solwezi boys ho-mo thugs. your own mother comited suicide when she found out. you fanatacise about george kunda suckin u. u r sick perverted fiends. u devils. go to hell. mundia-yeta, u will be raped by mpombo. and he will use a ruff rider on u. u sick chap.

  38. ZODIE DUBE … you are full of vulgar language; you must be really sick in the head, may be because you probably suffer from AIDS. Why are you so fascinated with the idea of homosexuality? You must be a homosexual … I have travelled across Zambia and have never come across a mentally deranged person like you. Wake up, man, this is the 21st Century … a Century for civilised members of the world community! You are tarnishing the image of normal Zambians with this kind of blogging.

  39. 😮 Language here is scaring and I wonder why people are really at each others’ throat when we were supposed to articulate issues raised by the author! Please ladies and gentlemen lets not attack each other in this manner! I will come when you people calm down and talk sense!

  40. Iwe mabala Senior Citizen naufwa ka. Stop licking MMD a*s. People at the frontlines in Zambia are fed up of incompetent leaders and as***les like you.:d:d
