FTJ happy with his appointment as patron of former miners

Former President Dr Fredrick Chiluba has accepted his appointed as patron of the former miners on the Copperbelt.

Dr. Chiluba says his appointment demonstrates the trust that people still have in him to help them address some of their challenges.

The former president said he will work to the best his ability to try and help the miners get their terminal benefits which have been withheld by a named commercial bank.

Dr. Chiluba told ZANIS in an interview through his Spokesperson Emmanuel Mwamba that the former miners are entitled to their terminal benefits hence the need to help them get what belongs to them.

Meanwhile Dr. Chiluba has called on politicians in the country not politicize his appointment adding that his appointment is only meant to help the former miners who have suffered for a long time now.

He said his appointment is non-partisan but aimed at helping the former miners regardless of their political affiliation.

This week, former Miners on the Copperbelt appointed Dr Chiluba as their patron to help them get their terminal benefits which have not been given to them by a named bank.

  1. l-) Kalipola ka kafupi nomba ka [-x ……yangu tata circus yapa Zed! Ninsala nangu nichinshi kanshi mwebantu? Zedians don’t cease to amaze me. :-??

  2. Ba FTJ We all know in our MMD party that you are just trying to make sure that your new aquired wife is not sent to jail. So you want to campaign in CB on our behave put I am very worried because CB is MMD no go area

  3. Zambia Association of Men who’s Wives were Grabbed (ZAMWG) needs a Patron, Dr Chiluba sir,you are welcome to be the Patron

  4. Just how did this “appointment” happen?. Only dull minds cannot draw conclusions. Isn’t there a government department to take care of such things. A clear acceptance of failed system. In the first place, who caused those miners to prematurely loose jobs. Anyway, it won’t be surprising to learn next week that Fred has a degree in law and will file a lawsuit against some bank on behalf of miners.

  5. The problem with miners is that they cant live beyond mining.Mining is there god.Being underground i think damages some brain particles, how else can a sane person appoint the midget to be their patron? the guy has no charity blood in his veins

  6. Looks like FTJ’s health problems have completely disappeared following his acquittal. What a miracle. Looks like the man still has clout.

  7. How is he going to help them when he is the same chap who brought misery on these miners by hurriedly selling mines without taking into consideration the long-term impact the privatisation was going to have on the entire CB. I don’t think this is a patron move. Why not name the bank what’s the reason for withholding? It is a political move which RB & Dr Kafupi will pay. You’re not beyond assassination that you should know.

  8. imwe nafuti chilu………any way we will see what political engineers can…….

  9. I ddt get the point on this can help me to understand (Meanwhile Dr. Chiluba has called on politicians in the country not politicize his appointment adding that his appointment is only meant to help the former miners who have suffered for a long time now) if they deserve where was he when he had time to do this when he was in the power, infact he has contributed a lot for their suffering?

  10. WHAT CHILUBA (MMD GOVT) DID – PRIVATISING THE MINES – IS WHAT ANY REASONABLE LEADER WOULD HAVE DONE AT THE TIME, IN FACT EVEN NOW. ASK HH’S OPINION, HE WILL TELL YOU IT WAS THE BEST OPTION. SUFFERING OF MINERS? AT THE TIME OF PRIVATISATION MINERS WERE STILL SUFFERING. IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT ZAMBIA HAS VERY FEW ECONOMISTS TO ASSIST LAY PEOPLE UNDERSTAND ECONOMICS OF PRIVATISATION. IT IS A FACT THAT ALL SUCCESSIVE GOVT HAVE CONTINUED WITH THIS GOOD POLICY, IF IT WERE NOT GOOD, WHY HAS IT NOT BEEN REVERSED? IT IS ALSO A FACT THAT WE STILL HAVE MORE MINERS NOW, IN ANY CASE THE RETIRED WOULD NOT BE IN EMPLOYMENT BY NOW WHATEVER THE CASE. LETS BE OBJECTIVEPEOPLE.

  11. I agree with # 12. You people are arguing like uneducated people who don’t understand the economy. And the way you just go with the bandwagon without having an independent mind is shoking. You know very well that the privatisation was enevitable, and it was’nt a one man show, but that everybody- the international community and all were saying that it had to be done, that it was the only way we could save ourselves from total collapse if not from death

  12. I think as Zambians, we deserve what we get….poverty, poor leaders, floods…..just as much as some of you are wondering how Chiluba could be called upon to help when he is part of the mess, I also keep wondering how some Zambians think Sata is a solution!

  13. This is how stu pid Zambians are. How wuld they let this th i ef milk them of even their last penny?
