ZNBC is the most popular Television Station in Zambia, Dora Siliya tell Parliament

Minister Dora Siliya
Ms. Siliya says Journalists must concentrate on doing their work which is to Inform, Entertain and Educate the public to the best of their abilities. she also has dvised the media in Zambia not to involve themselves in mainstream politics .

Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Dora Siliya says the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) is still the most popular broadcasting company.

Ms. Siliya says in terms of television viewership in Zambia ZNBC ranks first followed by Prime Television Station.

She wonders why there is so much clamour from certain opposition leaders to appear on ZNBC if it does not have a popular viewership.

Ms. Siliya was responding to allegations by Monze Central member of Jack Mwimbu, who is also leader of the opposition in the House, that ZNBC has lost its popularity.

This was during debates on the Select Committee’s report focused on the appointment of ZNBC Board of Directors.

Meanwhile, Justice Minister Given Lubinda has accused the United Party for National Development -UPND of perpetuating tribalism in the country.

Mr. Lubinda wonders why some UPND officials would always raise eyebrows when people from a particular tribe are not part of some national appointments.

Earlier, UPND Itezhi Tezhi Member of Parliament Hebert Shabula cried foul that there is no regional balance in the appointment of members of the Judicial Complaint Commission and ZNBC Board of Directors.

  1. ZNBC is as useless as Siliya. How can they fail to pay salaries if they are popular as silly Dora suggest. Why does ZNBC news always have a segment for PF party news and no other parties?

    • Zambians need a change of mindset urgently not just a change of Govt….how we end up with Siliya as Minister really boggles my mind…how we ended up with Lungu as President really boggles my medulla..how we ended up with Lusambo as Minister really confuses me

    • @Anonymous that’s how states are captured, so that you deny quality and credible leadership.

    • ZNBC itself as an entity is not a problem. The problem is the regime that has hijacked it and personalized it to suit only what they want and not what is truthfully on the ground.

If there can be a Govt that can ZNBC full powers to operate as a media company like BBC, then it can viable and appealing to the Zambian masses who always get frustrated to watch the same personalities when they are paying their own share of TV Levy.

Right now I can attest to the fact that ZNBC is watched less as compared to other private TV Stations that are not in any way biased but instead report everything as it happens.

    • @Anonymous-would you rather we end up with William Banda as Presidential Advisor at plot 1???

    • Zambian citizen these days is sounding like chemical Ali, Saddam’s lieutenant, even when the Americans were already in Baghdad and ransacking his chiefs’ palaces, he kept in telling Iraqis that they are winning the war. SAD!

    • Dora is just a bed warmer for PF, she has no brains and is just getting fat, soon she will have a stroke

    • She wonders why there is so much clamour from certain opposition leaders to appear on ZNBC if it does not have a popular viewership.

She once worked for deadnbc, I wonder if she understands the difference between a public broadcaster and a private broadcaster.

  2. A broadcasting network controlled by you and used by you to report useless biased propaganda will no doubt be heaven to your eyes. It’s like expecting a prostitute to criticise her buyer..

  3. Zambia national patriotic front broadcasting corporation ZNPFBC is only popular with/to PF caders only. The only channel that fetters government lies and deceit through reporting half truths. The only time it mentions the opposition is when the opportunity suits the ruling party in decampaigning the opposition.

  4. It looks like Dora has already started smoking marijuana, that the Chinese have been allowed to grow

  5. “……She wonders why there is so much clamour from certain opposition leaders to appear on ZNBC ….”

Errrrr , may be because they pay tv licence fees ???

    • That’s a minister who doesn’t understand why citizens pay tax, what’s the use of paying tax if you can’t access services like deadnbc.

  6. Why does this girl always dress up in wigs of prostitutes? Anyway, since her days at UNZA she has always been a whore whoring around even with illegal alien Kasaka from Katanga!

  7. Hehehehehe……Dora keep on hallucinating. These are the same people who made Rupiah Banda believe that MMD was still popular in 2011.They are doing the same thing to Edgar Lungu. The wind of change is blowing and it’s unstoppable, in irreversible gear! 2021 kuyabebele imwe ba plunderer!

    • Yaba… Winds of change?? In Dundumwezi yes, there’s winds of change, in the other parts of Zambia, upnd hasn’t convinced everyone why they should be given a chance. All they do is attack PF without offering solutions, tell me, do you think the people of Milenge who have seen a hospital fir the first time in their lives are going to be convinced that PF are just stealing money??

    • It’s only in Luapula where people are still sleeping. PF lost a ward in Northern province last week and they were shaken ati “kwasila northern province vatenga”. Luapula people wake up from your slumber. Is a hospital going to put food on people’s tables? We had more than money in our pockets during MMD than now, there’s untold misery and poverty. PF can only win in 2021 by rigging and they know this themselves

  8. I watch ZNBC news every evening to confirm or dispute any social media rumors. If it’s not on ZNBC, then its not true

  9. ZNBC: I stopped watching it years ago. I don’t even listen to the radio. Madam Slit should not tell lies akula manje

  11. Hehe popular my foot apart from lungu being on headlines everyday from your fake news what else do you offer ?

  12. I know that dreaming is free so continue dreaming madam. You are definitely out of touch with reality. If govt officials can not see anything wrong with the running of ZNBC, then we are in trouble.

  13. @Zambian citizen, you’re indeed a modern day chemical Ali.A hospital in Milenge will indeed convince the gullible rural dwellers but not in other areas. During the by-election in katuba your dishonest health minister attempted to bribe voters with a ground breaking ceremony of of a mini hospital in the area, he even moved an ambulance from UTH to show that the govt was working. It’s was pomp and splendour with bussed PF cadres from Lusaka. PF with all it’s mighty lost the election. It did not take long, the ambulance was withdrawn and to date there is no activity on the proposed site. That is pf for you. It’s a shame!!

  14. what facts does public media give us? What was the story carried by public media concerning the Kaoma killing?Lets call a spade a spade. ZNBC used to be our pride as a Nation, Not anymore
