The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia is horrified at the statement attributed to Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) Lusaka Province Chairperson William Banda, in which he is reported to have vowed to “fight” and “defeat” the Post newspaper
Mr Banda said he would fight the Post Newspaper for allegedly insulting President Rupiah Banda, Vice-President George Kunda, and a number of cabinet ministers.
MISA Zambia Chairperson Henry Kabwe said Banda’s statement is shocking because of its harsh tone, which he described as a Tantamount to a declaration of “All Out War” against The Post newspaper.
Mr Kabwe said the statement is an incitement to violence against The Post newspaper and its staff.
He appealed to MMD leadership to immediately check the excesses of Mr. William Banda who he described as ‘a senior cadre with a reputation of thuggish behaviour dating back to his days as Lusaka District Governor under the former ruling party, UNIP’.
Mr Kabwe also reminded Mr. William Banda that the days of UNIP’s style of vigilantism ended with the abolition of one party rule in 1990.
He urged Mr Banda to check his calendar again and realise that this is the year 2010 and not 1990, when UNIP was desperately fighting the tide of political change, and that Mr. Banda was in the forefront of defending UNIP,s desperate hold on power.
He said Zambia is now in the 21st Century and not the 20th Century, where Mr Banda cut his teeth in politics and was well schooled in using violence to crush political opponents, including the media.

Mr Kabwe said such tactics are not acceptable in a multiparty democracy like Zambia is today, and has been for the last 20 years since former president Dr. Kenneth Kaunda abolished one-party rule.
Mr. Kabwe reiterated that President Rupiah Banda should counsel Banda and urge him to change his old fashioned ways, because they are tarnishing the image of the country as an oasis of peace, political tolerance, and freedom of the press.

William Banda has been given enough lecture lessons and only a fool cannot get the message. My analysis here is that William is not the bigger fool, but the person who has the mandate and power to discipline him is. in this case RB. I think we have a joker for a president and only God knows when our country will have a serious president. Am sure RB is using William to destruct the people of Zambia from challenging him on real and important social and economic issues which RB and his government have messed up. I wish to advise intelligent and wise Zambians that advising a fool, is a share waste of time and energy, and you might end up become foolish yourself. Lets forget about William and concentrate on the Zamtel issue which I think is an important issue for the country at this moment.

Utterances by William Banda have been the subject of a lot of concern by most well meaning Zambians. I am sure you are aware of these and the implications these have had in the recent past such as violence during by-elections and disregard for human life from member of your MMD and the oppostion.
As the man entrusted to lead our beloved nation, posterity will judge you on how far you are prepared to see our nation degenerate into a violent, arnachiacal and chaoitic society before you put a stop to the nonsense this man preaches.
My Request: Act before you are forced to act by other stakeholders as was the case with the Dr Musonda case.

Dear bloggers, some of you are very young in our Zambian politics. Some of you were born after 1990 including the leader of MISA! William was deported because of misunderstandings between him and Satan the PF leader. The Zambian govt. is not foolish to have him back and afford him Lusaka province MMD chairman. If his deportation was due to legal issues he would be outside the country today. William was and still a pioneer of peace in Zambia both during KK and now our beloved president RB. William is not a job seeker like Satan or Ichilema. Satan was MMD until he found out that he cant rule Zambia after our beloved former President FTJ. MISA days are very numbered.

MISA you have greatly dissapointed me! You fellas have forgotten about the history of Zambia. Mr William Banda is a very active honorable who has contributed positively to our country’s independence. MISA and the Post are haters of government and whoever supports our president. When our late president was alive it was name calling. Sata and the post called Mr. Mwanawasa a ‘cabbage’ on a daily basis. Why? because he was president of the Republic of Zambia! Dr. Chiluba was and is still being harassed including his wife Mrs. Regina. If Chiluba stole as purported why hasnt Mrs. Vera been charged for receiving stolen goods? Anything Mr. Chiluba touches sends shivers in the opposition spine. MISA is just another political party like the post.

When people repeatedly tell you that you are wrong. It is wise to take a break and reflect before you move on. A dog learns when repeatedly told and only if you where a lesser than a dog can you not learn when told more than twice.
My advise to bloggers is that let us put our efforts in discussing important issues and sharing ideas instead of trying to teach someone like Senior Citizen or William Banda, who cannot learn even after repeated rebuke and advise.

For those too young- this man together with other hooligans beat up Mr. Simon Kapwepwe our former Vice President and later on started to beat up MMD members such as Mr,Chikoti etc. This is the reason FTJ deported him to Nkhota khota , Malawi. Untamed William Banda wants to be above anything. He thinks all will be the same every time! Time will catch up with him one day. He is used to the conduct displayed by the Young Pioneers who were harassing and beating people in a neigh bouring country where William Banda comes from.
