UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema has welcomed the adjournment of Parliament Sine Die following the death of two parliamentarians and two staff members in a space of two weeks.
Parliament on 21st July 2020 adjourned sine die due to the coronavirus pandemic which has affected the National Assembly.
Mr Hichilema says it was wise to close the institution to save the lives of both parliamentarians and staff.
He said this action was long overdue as evidenced by the extent to which the institution has been afflicted by the pandemic.
He has reiterated his call for the isolation and testing of all Members of Parliament and staff in order to break and arrest the chains of transmissions that may extend to their families and members of the general public.
Mr Hichilema has reiterated in times like these, there is a need for national unity and prayer as the country heightens public health awareness and other measures.
He has further called on all citizens to take COVID seriously and observe prescribed public health measures and come forward for testing.
Vice President Inonge Wina moved a motion in Parliament of adjournment which is in accordance with parliamentary standing orders 33(1) of 2016 which calls for the adjournment of the house when a crisis arises.
Mrs. Wina urged Members of Parliament to ensure that they test for the coronavirus while on recess before returning to their constituencies.
Which prayer??? HH has never been part or the national day of reconciliation and prayer because his ego is too big. Which prayer can he talk about now?
Its not clear whether or not Parliament has Adjourned Sine Die since the publication of the Notice to Adjourn. If indeed Parliament adjourned what is the fate of our beloved Bill 10? Does it mean that Bill 10 is no more and dead and buried? Can somebody pse explain the implications of Adjourning Parliament Sine Die?

The Asian community made up of Muslims and Hindus have donated over $10 million to the ministry of health to help in the covid-19 fight.
Meanwhile , the Christians have been pilfering these donated funds.

Why do Mr Kaiza Zulu hate and insult Mr HH all the time? A successful businessman who meets the requirements can have an ambition to be a better Leader than incumbents. You are happy that Zambia has good relations with Donald Trump and people of US. Trump was a businessman and tv personality before he became President. There is a plethora of presidents in the world that never set foot in parliament before they became head of state. Only in Zambia perhaps out of ignorance of complex management systems in the world will claim one must be a branch or ward member to be a president or MP. That’s the more reason Zambia has the most uneducated MPs who hardly express themselves fluently in parliament thereby depriving the people they represent. Unlike walking out of parliament to register as a disapproval as depriving people representation, some narrow minded chaps argued.
It’s refreshing to see responsible politics from UPND.
I hope the cadres that have been trying to use this pandemic to score points are now going to listen to their leadership’s call to take covid19, seriously. This is something that affects everyone including the rich, poor, colour, world region. Wherever, whomever.
It’s wise really to impose another countryside lockdown because of the pattern of infections occuring exponentially. We need to see the pattern emerging so the test, trace pattern can be applied effectively. Also, to firmly enforce social distancing, masking, hand washing etc.

Did it really have to take the demise of two parliamentarians for Lungu, Matibini and Inonge to realise that their quest to shove Bill 10 down our throats was a mission in futility. Anyway, the good thing that came out of this is that most of the PF MPs are now infected with COVID-19 and mark my word, there will be dozens of “thieves” kicking the bucket triggering bye elections. We actually may have to go for early polls. This is Lungu’s gutless stupidity these MPs from Luapula, Northern and the Copperbelt seem so hell bent to stomach, let them fry in their own stupidity.
In their careless haste to campaign for 2021, PF Ministers and MPs ignore the critical anti-Covid protocols. Secondly, they want to campaign at the exclusion of other parties, especially the very strong UPND, because they do know that on a completely plain playing field, UPND would certainly win in 2021. PF know that. The UPND is taking every care against Covid, while PF are preventing UPND from campaigning. This is why the PF Ministers and MPs are dying in numbers, and they will continue to die as long as they continue stopping the opposition from campaigning.

The Govt’s decision to allow PF to campaign and in the process violating Ministry of Health Covid Guidelines was a blessing in disguise for the Opposition Parties. PF has lost MPs and Party Officials from the Covid-19 Pandemic. Opposition Parties who haven’t been allowed to campaign have suffered less casualties from the disease. Indeed Govt has mysterious ways of dealing with injustice.
