Southern Province Permanent Secretary Mrs. Gladys Kristafor says that Zambia’s growing investment sector will provide jobs to many youths and contribute to economic growth of the country.

She said that government is encouraged every time it sees companies expanding their branches which is a sign of growth and also demonstrates the confidence that investors have in our country. The Southern Province Permanent Secretary said this in Livingstone at the official opening of the new Parmalat Distribution Centre.

She has commended Parmalat for Providing job opportunities to over 240 people at its centres in Lusaka,Kitwe,Chingola,Kabwe,Mazabuka and Livingstone.

Mrs. Kristafor further added that the company has also provided a steady income to diary farmers in the country by buying their milk on an everyday basis.

Mrs.Kristafor said that government is ready to provide even extra incentives to companies that are seen to be adding value to the Zambian economy ,especially through the creation of employment.

She mentioned that government desires to see Zambian produced goods competing at the same level as those from developed countries and that this will give Zambia a competitive edge in todays global economy.

And speaking at the same function Parmalat Zambia Managing Director Mr.Piet Theron said that the company will remain committed to the nation’s accelerated economic growth and poverty alleviation through employment creation and tax contribution.

  1. We can talk about job creation all the way we want but what are the working conditions? China man also claims he is doing the same but something don’t seem to be right somewhere somehow.

  2. Its welcome move but in future munufacturing plants should also be openen in provincial centre this will have an effect of reducing cost of distribution hence reducing the price consumer pays.

  3. Good News.

    @ #2 Conservative

That is a good idea but it can only be feasible if the market is big enough. The market in Livingstone is somewhat small compared to Lusaka and the CB. Therefore it makes sense having manufacturing plants there as opposed to Livingstone but it is a good idea.

  4. #1 you are rite

    1) the question is what are the working conditions??
    2) no longer interested in China working conditions??
    3) economically we are still slaves somehow, somewhere??
    4) what is the govt doing to enhance labour laws in favour of us??

  5. hoping to know more on how one the best companies in zambia and in need of experience on how working skills
