Allow ECZ to do its job – Shikapwasha

Chief Government spokesperson Lt. Gen. Ronnie Shikapwasha has called for cooperation from all electoral stakeholders to allow the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to do its job without interference.

Lt. Gen Shikapwasha says the ECZ is the only body authorized to announce and conduct elections in the country.

He emphasized that other organisations should pave way for the ECZ and let the rules apply in order to have peaceful elections.

Lt. Gen. Shikapwasha was reacting to Chipata Catholic Diocese Vicar General Fr. Gabriel Sepo’s statement that the catholic church will go ahead to conduct the Parallel Voter Tabulation in this year’s tripartite elections.

He said that government will not allow some organizations to bring anarchy by being insistent about conducting PVT.

The Catholic Church has maintained that it will conduct the parallel vote tabulation (PVT) during this year’s general elections.

Catholic Diocese of Chipata Vicar General Gabriel Sepo said the church will conduct PVT as it is not illegal during this year’s elections.

He stated that the church through Caritas Zambia is already training election monitors to conduct PVT during the forthcoming general elections.

He said this in Chipata over the weekend.

  1. Ronnie at it again. Please tell us your exat fears about this issue. There is nothing wrong with PVT unless you want to use VJ’s help. Let them do it, besides they do a lot of things which your govt should have been doing, such as speaking for the voiceless, providing education, provision of health care and the list can go on. If you want them not to be involved in politics stop them from providing all the services mentioned above. I am sure you cannot even think about doing so.

  2. United Church of Zambia,New Apostolic,Seventh Day,Jehova’s Witnesses,Redeemed Church in Zambia,Lutheran,Brethen in Christ,Protestants…..Have Never Shown Such Partisan Tendencies as the Homos’Catholic Church.Surely This Church Wants To Control & Rule Zed.It Should Not Be Entertained.

In the Western World Its Now Almost Non-Existant.

    Long Live Zed

  3. It is now very clear that elections have been rigged. They are so scared to the bone that they can do any thing over the PVT not to take place. Then they will be anarchy if it will be stoped. Zambians, be on the watch, this Government can bring war because they are failing to judge the mood of Zambians rightly by beign riggid to almost every thing.

  4. Please we need PVT, we are not ready for any alteration of figures which you mother fuckers have been doing. We need true reflection of the results not self imposition like what happened in 2008. The 35,000 votes were stolen by the MMD. SATA won

  5. So it it means even those proof reading when writing the exams should be arrested, RV please give us a break!

  6. #6 You are sport on. This guys takes advantage of the absence of monitors from the opposition in most remote parts of the polling stations and manipulate the figures in broad day light. We only hope that this time around the correction of wrong tabulation will be allowed and this thieves would be got pants down. Thats why they are jittery of the PVT

  7. SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!…..DONCHI KUBEBA,……..ALLOW ECZ TO UDER-COOK OR OVER-COOK ELECTION RESULTS???? NEVER, NOT IN 2011…….YOU MAY AS WELL DECLARE MR RIGGER REDUNDANT….HE HAS NO JOB THIS YEAR,COZ PVT IS IN MOTION…….BYE, BYE POLIO!!
