UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema has said Patriotic Front(PF) leader Michael Sata and his supporters are now under pressure to clear the mess surrounding their party following its alleged promise to defend and protect the rights of homosexuals and lesbians in an event that the PF wins this year’s elections.
Mr Hichilema said in an interview that it was unfair for the PF and what he termed as their favourite newspaper to continue attacking the UPND because it resolved to differ with them over their homosexuality stance.
He said he was an African and a Christian, who did not believe in homosexuality and that his party, should not be unfairly attacked for making its position clear on the matter.
Mr Hichilema, who also accused some sections of the media of openly supporting the PF and neglecting the rest of the opposition parties said, the same media was now misleading the public on the demise of the electoral pact between his party and the PF.
Mr Hichilema said those who wanted to misinform the public on issues which led to the demise of the UPND-PF Pact and his party’s position on some national issues which came out afterwards, were just wasting their time.
“Mr Sata should come out in the open and tell Zambians the truth about his party’s support for homosexuality because a lot of people are aware of the interview he gave to the foreign media in which he suggested that he supports gay rights.
The UPND should not be blamed by this mess which needs to be cleared by Mr Sata and his favourite newspaper,” he said.
He said it was not a secret that The Post Newspaper and Kafulafuta Member of Parliament (MP) George Mpombo, had embarked on a campaign suggesting that UPND was working in collaboration with President Banda to discredit Mr Sata.
Mr Hichilema said the stories published by The Post claiming that he was campaigning for President Banda clearly showed that Mr Mpombo and others were determined to deliberately mislead the public about the UPND position on national issues.
He said the PF’s poor performance in last month’s Mutaba Ward by-election in Kafulafuta Constituency, despite being under the leadership of Mr Mpombo, had left the PF and its supporters bitter.
“The loss of the PF which was being led by the area’s sitting MP has shown the nation that Mr Mpombo no longer has influence in Kafulafuta and among the Lamba’s in general,” he said.
Mr Hichilema said he was consistent in raising issues and not personalities in all his campaign messages in Mutaba and other parts of the country he had been holding public meetings.
“I have held public meetings in Mutaba, Chongwe, Nangoma and Mazabuka but I have personally neve r discussed Mr Sata or any personalities because I believe in addressing issues.
“Its unfortunate that Mr Mpombo is now not happy that the public media covers some of my public meetings just because their favourite newspaper is giving me a blackout they expect all media houses not to cover me. Is this fair?” Mr Hichilema asked.
And UPND Copperbelt Province chairperson Elisha Matambo has accused Mr Mpombo of being ungrateful to Mr Hichilema and the UPND which he alleged assisted him with K10 million last year when he was facing a financial crisis.
Mr Matambo said his party regrets having assisted Mr Mpombo, who once served as its councillor in Kafulafuta before he defected to the MMD.
And Mr Hichilema confirmed that he assisted Mr Mpombo with cash but refused to divulge further details on the matter.
“My only advice to Mr Mpombo is that he should learn to be grateful to people who help him when he is facing serious problems,” he said.
But Mr Mpombo denied having received any money from Mr Hichilema and challenged the UPND to take him to court if he owed them any money.
Meanwhile, UPND trustee for presidential duties Cornwell Sakala advised Mr Mpombo to have integrity and tell the truth about where he go t the K10 million which he used to settle a debt he owed Ndola business-executive Terence Findlay, who dragged him to court after he issued a rubber cheque last year.

Mpombo failed to raise the K10million MMD presidential nomination fee.
Mpombo said it was shocking that a man who aspires to be President could concoct lies about the recent Mutaba local government by-election in Ndola rural.
“That chap went on vortex of vicious smear campaign against me and Mr Sata. But despite camping in Mutaba for four days together with his vice-president Richard Kapita and his entire national executive committee, he lost the election. He was the only president in that ward by-election and he lost. Surely, is that something he can be proud of? Did he see Rupiah or Sata in Mutaba?†Mpombo asked.
That chap and his henchmen where camped at Shem Musala’s village dishing out money, bicycles and slaughtering animals but still they couldn’t make it. That in itself confirms that the chap has no national constituency. Hichilema should just consider standing as councillor in Kabulonga where he resides or somewhere else just in case Kabulonga proves to be an uphill battle for him too.
Mpombo said if UPND wanted to come back into political limelight, they should ditch Hichilema’s blunder-prone stewardship. He said Hichilema had failed to provide inspiring leadership as seen by his recent pathetic union with APC.

Yesterday, Hichilema was quoted in the Times of Zambia as having said that Mpombo had no influence in Kafulafuta and among the Lambas in general.

We know these recycled politicians are at it again to destruct us from the real issues of putting medicine on the table, and the economy etc. They can say bad things about HH but will be shocked to discover that the booth results show our true leader as the best. After PF loses in this year’s tripatite elections, that will mark the end of the party, reasons:
1) PF has no clear strategic leadership organisation principles
2) PF does not exist in itself as a party but SATA
3) PF supporters dont support anyone but SATA, and those that feel supported it is because of their affiliation to SATA.
4) PF supporters are not sure whether or not they are doing the right thing.
5) Sata is old and his chances are declining, (fact of life).

4 months from now, Sata will be resting under a tree in Chitulika Village, and that is if he thought of building a shelter where to say his head. What experience is Mpombo talking about on HH, this old man should realise that we do not all need to be MPS for us to be presidents one day. HH was not in the PACT merely to remove MMD, he was looking for ways to use the big man SATA sieng that the man was aging and perharps he would not be able to stand by the time of elections. But seing that the man was still going strong in his hopes for state house HH saw no use for the PACT.

You people vote for wrong reasons. Your reason to vote should be because you believe the your candidate is capable of delivering. Dont vote so that your candidate can win. You only have one vote. Its wrong for sata to call hh under 5,thats a very high promotion on hh. The man deserves to be called under 1 or the highest to be called under 2.
What went wrong with HH’s thinking for him to even think of being Vice to SATA? That was shocking to observe because:
1) First of all that is not possible to achieve because of SATA’ s vibrational attitude, i.e. constantly shifting his position.
2) Secondly, the level of integrity in SATA may be very difficulty to fully understand because of his inconsistencies
3) There was an amazing compromise from HH to have accepted to work under SATA as vice. How did he (HH) forgo his values?
4) Trust from all Zambians who mistrust SATA also went down for HH because of this amazing move he made. It is good he realised his mistake, if not I would never have trusted HH.
The reason why people called HH ‘Prince Cobra’ was an expression of mistrust that he smeared on our faces as SATA has…

There is nothing wrong with UPND camping with MMD if PF have proved to be unstrustworthy. After all Sata was MMD until the day Levy was picked to be President for MMD. So who has personal interest here. Very surprised with H.H, why is he running away from the facts that made the Pact to collapse?
