PRESIDENT Banda says his administration is not yet satisfied with economic gains Zambia has recorded so far.

Mr Banda said in Lusaka on March 29 that the government will never tire of trying to find more ways and means of boosting national development.

He was speaking at Lusaka International Airport shortly before departure for Livingstone where he is expected to officiate at the seventh Zambia International Business Advisory Council (ZIBAC) meeting, whose focus is job and wealth creation.

“Zambia is picking up quite a lot but we are not satisfied. We want to do more,” Mr Banda said.

He said this is the reason Government has invited outstanding and successful individuals from across the world to the ZIBAC meeting.

Mr Banda said he is looking forward to the meeting because of its importance to the nation.

ZIBAC was set up to provide international business views and practical measures to strengthen the investment climate and business environment in Zambia.

Zambia has so far attracted a lot of foreign direct investment over the past two years since President Banda assumed office and has also accelerated business reforms, which led the country being rated one of the top 10 performers in the world.

And Mr Banda said he will have active working days in Livingstone because after officiating at the ZIBAC meeting, he will host a meeting of heads of State of the Southern African Development Community Organ on Defence and Security Co-operation.

President Banda is the current chairman of the SADC organ whose meeting is expected to tackle various security challenges facing the region, including the political challenges in Zimbabwe and Madagascar.

He said after his working visit to Livingstone, he is looking forward to the MMD national convention slated for April 5 to 7.

On arrival in Livingstone, the President said the two major international meetings in the tourist capital demonstrate Zambia’s zeal for economic advancement and peace, NDUBI MVULA reports.

The 7th ZIBAC conference, this time around has attracted participants from as far as Kazakhstan, Egypt, USA, Europe and other parts of the world.

“This is a sign that the country is conducive for more investment. Let us build Livingstone into a major centre for international conferences so that we can attract business people and create employment for our young people,” he said.

Mr Banda was welcomed by Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Felix Mutati and Southern Province permanent secretary Gladys Kristafor, some senior government and MMD officials at the Livingstone International Airport at about 15:20 hours.

  7. mwiponta pipo the man has done well for 2yrs, if you dont understand and think development is somebody bringing money to you for free in a developing country mukalolela mukanaka so firstly if you want to develop love your country more than you love yourself and your political party that is the first step and frankly we dont have that in zambia.

  8. One nation, one vote, only one RB.
The pipo can hear the lies from sata and the post, but again the pipo can see we are delivering.
When one has no economic plan, how can he convince the pipo who are seeing and feeling progress ?.
Zambians are truly fed up with the oppositions cheap plotiking without substance. Only call boys with nothing to do listen to thier street sermons, while the ever growing working and bussiness comunity move forward the increasingly rich peasant farmers enjoy an up lift in life thanks to FRA.

  9. #10: waba itole! He has not done anything in 2 years apart from making our people more poor and finishing off LM’s projects, and also messing with the Judiciary! RB is useless! I can do a better job! We are waiting for for revelation from Libya when Gaddaffi is finished and thats RB’s legacy. Ordinary Zambians have never had any free money, maybe you did?! Its all about hardship and competing with foreigners with had capital!

  10. RB chokapo pa chipuna. You have brought nothing but misery to most Zambians. There is no way a good leader would advocate for the sale of national asset and leave thousands of people unemployed. A strong economy does not have millions of people unemployed.Since he is up to no good that is why he fought for the sale of zamtel. It is good he knows that he has done NOTHING! The same company that has bought Zamtel is not even delivering. My house phone has been dead for seven months now. A thing that never happened when Zamtel was the real” Zamtel”. :o
