  1. This is good news. This will lead to job creation, knowledge transfer and add to the diversification process of the Zambian economy. First a mobile phone manufacturing plant and now an auto mobile manufacturing plant. Great news indeed.

  2. Companies offer discounts to policyholders who have not had any accidents or moving violations for a number of years. look line for “Auto Insurance Clearance” on the web

  3. Why are they coming to Zambia and not other countries? Its simple, theres no accountability in Zambia. They ll be given 10 years tax free and they ll be stealing our minerals. After 10 years they say theres no market in Zambia and ll go back. Let them open a manufacturing company that ll be there even if they decide to go back. WAKE UP ZAMBIA

  4. Ba #4 Do you tell a customer what to buy if he gets into your shop. You should really wake up yourself and stop dreaming. Where on earth do you tell an investor what to invest in.

    Revisit your notes Bro!

  5. Why assembl why not manufacture .. That’s what Zambia needs not a silly assembly line like India did to mercedese Benz plant in India which now manufactures Tata mobiles .Yes if you did not know tata mobiles and tata trucks once apon a time used to be Mercedes . 75% German 25 % Indian and over the years the % was increasing for India till it became 100 % Indian .. But India had no rights to manufacture mercedese benze , so they had to change the name to Tata .If you look closely to tata mobiles station wagon cars and vans you will notice a very strong resemblance to the mercedese benze E series . That’s because they still use the same moulds as for the benze even the dash board looks like that of the benze cars E series 190 ,.200 , 230, 260E .Even the tata trucks look very similar toBenz

  6. CHINESE CARS ARE THAT WILL BE ASSEMBLED IN ZAMBIA WILL BE USELESS ONES, FOR EXAMPLE LOOK AT SOME CHINESE TRUCKS ON ZAMBIAN ROADS THAT ACTUALLY RUNS ON PARAFFIN AND NOT DIESEL.MY ADVISE TO ZAMBIANS NEVER EVER BUY A YELLOW MANS VEHICLES UNLESS YOU HAVE MONEY TO WASTE.THIS VEHICLES WILL NOT LAST YOU A YEAR OR MAYBE JUST MONTHS.THE CHINESE WILL DRAIN ALL THE MINERALS THAT ZAMBIA HAS IN A COUPLE OF YEARS AND THAN MOVE AWAY TO ANOTHER AFRICAN COUNTRIES.PLEASE MARK MY WORDS BEFORE ITS TOO LATE.THE CHINESE ARE OUT TO FINISH AFRICAN COUNTRIES ESPECIALLY CENYRA AFRICAL,EAST AFRICA AND SOUTH AFRICA.THE BLOODY DOG EATERS MUST BE KEPT AWAY FROM ZAMBIA AT ALL COST.OTHERS WISE WE SHALL BE DOOMED.

  7. DEAR BLOGGERS, PLZ EXCUSE SOME SPELLING MISPRINT ON MY ABOVE POSTING AS MY LAPTOP SOMETIMES PRINT ERRORS.THANKS. MALIKOPO.

  8. #5 Don’t be dumb – Directing investors to specific areas of investments is exactly what the govt need to do. Zambia does not need an asssembly plant but rather a manufacturing one. The notion that investors have to dictate us is just perverse. They need us more than we need them.

  9. We need to put conditions such as skills transfer to Zambians so that in the long term it is Zambians who will continue running things. China is overcrowded and Chinese people always cherish an opportunity to go and live somewhere else. The other thing is that let them not dictate the terms of the investment but rather let Zambians be fully involved.

  10. Great news. Hope more of this follows so that we can diversify the economy and become the centre hub of business in SADC. Rome was not built in a day.

  11. There is nothing to be excited about but you are welcome and stop shooting our people when they demand for better conditions of service. We do not condon slavery in Zambia. PF will ensure smart partnership with you not the master-slave relationship currently obtaining.

  12. This is good news, i live in Spain and Higer Buses has an assembly plant in my city and all the buses in my city are Higer Buses, they are good and comfortable buses. Thumbs up GRZ

  13. Good news. Now, next step is to look at which components and sub-assemblies can be focused on to encourage manufacture in Zambia under license at reduced cost among the many components that make up a vehicle. For example, electrical circuitry from Zamefa, which in turn gets part of its raw material from the mines. The multiplier effect would work in Zambia’s favour. Location wise, Zambia has an advantage because it’s central in the southern region of Africa, therefore cost effective on distribution. Zambia is political stable. China has been present in Zambia for a long time right from the Kaunda administration, and it’s growing to be a force to reckon with in a similar manner Japan grew to where it is today. People that used to laugh at Japan’s quality at one time….

  14. Cont’d….at one time (like pompous Britain here) stopped laughing along the way when Japan overtook them. Those that shook hands with Japan (like USA) rode the tide with Japan as it surged and grew. So, lets think long-term for our Zambia’s sake

  15. The Japanese need land. Why not give them the Maharishi heaven on earth land around Chisamba area maybe that would be a better investment. The unfortunate part is that these tumaChinese are all over the world with their substandard merchandise. how can we stop them form penetrating the Zambian market if we cant maintain our own makeshift companies?

  16. NO FAKE CLAIMS OF CHANGE WILL SWING VOTERS!!!
RUPIAH BANDA IS WORKING EXTRA HARD AND EVERYONE APART FROM THE BLIND CAN SEE THIS. TODAY WE EVEN HAVE PEOPLE WHEN THEY SEE THEY REFUSE AT NO THIS IS ALL MWANAWASA.
LET ME TELL YOU IT IS MMD!!! MWANAWASA AND BANDA BOTH MMD!!!
THIS YEAR NI PANKOLOKO FYE CHABE!!!!!

  17. This alright providing it creates genuine jobs and clear economic value to our country. Let us now apply vigilance so that what we are seeing coming in from the Chinese is genuine and not politicking and vote-spurring on the part of our outgoing government. I would have loved a scenario where this plant already has a good foothold in the country and is announcing a launch – not possibility. We know the tricks that die down immediately after vote counting.

  18. The Chinese are here to stay like it or not! Certain people (no names) Rb and co have become wealthy in a sly way through back handers. That’s why they want to stay in power, let someone else have a go you greedy so and so.

  19. #7 Jojo
Unfortunalty the TATA mobiles are not as solid as The Mercedes .
Reason being when merc eventually pulled out tho they left the plant intact they took with them the technology such as the key bade metals and formula to get a specific strenth in metals .. Think of it like this chicken inn makes good chicken but can never be KFC quality . Simply because tho they may look the same the key ingredients are different . as in the case with KFC .. top secret .
Same thing with Tata .. Even the paint quality on TATA mobiles is not as fine a finish as the merc .
But if you took a tata mobile and pimp it with a Merc emblem and logo give it a thicker gloss paint finish .. Stick a 200E on the back .. You could fool 90 % of the people they would think you rolling in a merc .

  20. # 8 i was thinking paraffin vehicle is cheaper than diesel one. lets embrace this assembly plant after all even toilet paper we just package it.

  21. There is so much crap coming from a jittery MMD and asslickers like Snr Citizen.Ask yourself questions like MFEZ since 2006, Turkish airlines to fly to Zambia since last year and the list goes on.Bwezani will promise to build a bridge even where there is no river. He has a terrible alcohol problem and hardly knows what he is saying. He is corrupt to the core.He hopes to make Zambia into a developing country by 2030 from a LDC.If you read that toilet paper called dailt mail ot Times of Zambia then it is understandable

  22. It is not rocket science but why build schools if there are no quality teachers in Zambia? Kids finish grade 12 with very little writing skills.Lecturers sleep with girls students at Unza to give them grades.Ask Dora Siliya how many Lecturers she slept with at Unza to get her degree without doing any academic work.Is this the Zambia we want.Out of 13million people we surely can find Visionary leaders regardless of their political parties.Anything is better than that Alcoholic Bwezani
