The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) is overwhelmed with the support it has received from tax payers in the country towards the recently launched call centre.
ZRA Project Director for Domestic Taxes Modernisation Programme Mofya Chisala said the call centre has provided an opportunity for tax payers to engage with the authority on all tax matters.
Speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today, Mr. Chisala said ZRA is on track and will achieve the set objective of creating a platform for taxpayer education and fostering partnerships between ZRA and tax payers.
Mr. Chisala noted that ZRA has been receiving calls from remote parts of the country adding that the call centre has made it possible for ZRA to listen to concerns and views of all taxpayers whether small, medium or large.
“We are now in the process of formulating answers to frequently asked questions regarding tax matters for us to use in tax payer education,”
he said.
Mr. Mofya said the call centre will continue to be an integral part of tax payer engagement and education for ZRA to maximise on its revenue
collection.
The call centre was launched on May 27 and is aimed at sensitising members of the public on various tax matters and benefits of being tax compliant.
The call centre whose number is 5972 is accessible on a 24- hour and 7 day basis.
Not a single comment? Uhm of Mr. Chisala how do you intend to broaden the tax base so that even those with ‘business’ in chamboli pay taxes and not just those in offices since you tax at source.
He is Mr Chisala and not Mr Mofya. Ba Lt even where it’s not necessary you make mistakes.Big Ups Mr Chisala, Targets shall be met this year.
Mr Chisala, are you overwhelmed because you as ZRA can not manage the number of calls or is it because the questions asked are too complicated?? I guess what you meant to say was that you are impressed with the response/reaction to the open-line received so far.
thats a good move. ZRA do your thing and collect all that money that can give zambia good development. Politicians please dont pocket it
This should have been done 20 years ago
#3, just a comment. i think that the words that mr chisala actually said are those quoted in inverted commas, the rest are for the reporter or the editors.
Please can someone bomb that eyesore may be; just may be these idi/otswill be forced to put up a proper structure!
That is a very beautiful “historic” building. Can ZRA through its relevant lines repaint the building please?
As for the Taxes, no one should blame ZRA with failure to collect revenue, only the Government should ensure that the money collected is used to develop our country.
Looks like zra was not ready for this?
No, the joke is on you # 6. “cause I know somewhere in your education, you must have come across the term reported speech.
ZRA needs alot of political support to tax the mines appropriately as well as the informal sector. The mines are being “shielded” by the government from paying thier fair share of the tax burden. The informal sector is not being taxed as it would be “politically incorrect”. Where to … ZRA!
It is appropriate time to make some plans for the future and it’s time to be happy.
