FIRST republican President Kenneth Kaunda says he is sad to lose two of his successors in a short period of time.
Dr Kaunda told journalists after viewing the body of former President Frederick Chiluba that this is a sad moment for him and the people of Zambia.
He said difficult as it may be, citizens must be as strong as they were when President Mwanawasa died nearly three years ago.
“Let us all be strong and mourn in dignity,” Dr Kaunda said.
In the same interview, Dr Kaunda also said his wife Betty is well and that he does not know who started the rumour that she had passed away on Saturday.
And Bank of Zambia governor Caleb Fundanga said the current economic framework was set up by Dr Chiluba.
He said Zambia would not have survived the 2008 global financial crisis had Dr Chiluba not liberalised the economy and put in place good policies.
Dr Chiluba’s former press aide Richard Sakala said the death of his former boss has bridged Zambians across political divide.
He said for people like himself (Mr Sakala) that worked with Dr Chiluba, it is consoling to see so many Zambians mourning their former leader.
Former Deputy Minister of Finance in Dr Chiluba’s government, Dan Pule said Dr Chiluba was a good leader who instilled Christian values in his ministers.
Dr Pule said Dr Chiluba would always begin Cabinet meetings with a prayer.
[Zambia Daily Mail]
Big deal! The man was unwell for a long time. He was 68 years old. Given the life expectancy of Zambians, that was a good run.
Besides it is common knowledge that the Zambian Parliament and Cabinet are widow makers.
Time to move on. There are 12 million more living Zambians who need jobs, health care, food, education ….
Let us all be strong and mourn in dignity, way to go bashi panji. No more drama, lets ensure PF has a smooth transition.
Interesting but sad to hear that cabinet meetings commenced with prayers when I think of the thefts which took place. The 8th commandments in the Bibe reads “You shall not steal.”. I wonder which part of that ministers didn’t undrstand.
Ha ha ha. Dan Pule is still around. I remember one of his sermons on TV when he confessed that he loved money. He said something like “money is good. I love money. He he he he. Praise the Lord”. Hilarious.
LT professionalism please ,stop using SMS language!
That’s the problem with all these Zambian Websites the all do things in haste, no editing, no weeding out trolls, everything is autopilot if you want to attract the best advertisers, bloggers put some effort and show some passion in your work.

I think Dr KK watches a lot this channel .Any one wanting to leave longer and outlive their successors go green.KK will leave longer and even outlive ……………………..
doesn’t RB begin his cabinet meetings with prayer?
Ba Dan Pule, teti mwaikala fye tondolo. Sumtimz i think thats why FTJ ended up what he became. He was sorrounded by wrong chaps and Pule is one of them eishhhh!!!!
Wow!!!!!!!!!!! Dan Pule says Chiluba instilled christian values in his Ministers. I guess that is why we had Zambia as one of the most corrupt countries under Chiluba.
Iwe Dan Pule ukalipo iwe ! Unakwatila futi ?
May his soul rest in peace the once Moses untill he declared Zambia a Christian Nation then devil waged war on him in the second term he changed became boostful and mafia like dressing and dealings too much scarface, Carlo Gambino and The God Father inspiration got to his head but the good thing is he found his way home in the end he left Egypt he repented and died in good books with his creator which is a good thing and blessed its how you finish the race not how you start that matters most of us mighty not finish our race in good books with God Almighty lord have mercy on us the living and soften the hearts politicians take out all the arrogance let them listen to your people let them not use bullets in this election nor steal the vote but let your will be done Amen
We musy publish all minutes of cabinet meetings during Chiluba’s years as he was mastermind of stealing from all of us.
Umuntu nga afwa tabipa. So it it is also for Titus Mpundu. He stole nothing from Zambians. He was a ‘damn’ good president to quote RB.
Reading between the lies, KK is saying is that we should not vote for sickly presidential aspirants.
Tuli pakulosya natwisiba.
If and only if he stole something,he would have been convicted.Justice was done and he was set free.stop wasting your time you haters.RIP FTJ,Big love.
HEAR HEAR!!! The man was persecuted and he survived it with dignity and may his soul rest in peace indeed.
KK Would have amassed as much wealth as Mobutu if he so wished. But he didnt. It says much about the man. We were lucky to have him. No matter what you think about the man he has left us a legacy which has given us unparalleled peace for an African country. We might be poor but we are peaceful. We owe him so much. Long live KK.
Situmbeko stop telling lies, with or without the policies, Zambia was not affected by GFC, as our economy was no way related to the “Finance – Property crisis” that gripped the western world, our small economy has always been dependent on Resources (i.e. natural resources – copper) which were minimally affected when demand dropped temporarily – so FTJ’s nor RBish policies are merely “Political Rhetoric” to the financially naive! Infact most if not all underdeveloped economies were not or at worst minimally affected because their finances were not caught up in that “finance-property whirlwind!”
THANK YOU!!!! My thoughts EXACTLY! And I think you meant Fundanga not Situmbeko
KK, uli muntu sana, noti ba pompwe aba baisa tu teka infine!!
KK IS THE WORLDS GREATEST STAE MAN ON THS PLANET JUST AS MAHATMA GANDHI.HE PREACED LOVE TO MAN KIND AND GAVE LOVE TO PEOPLE .THE MAN WHO WE ARE BURYING TODAY IMPRISONED HIM ON CHRISTMAS DAY BUT THE SAME HUMBLE MAN KK IS TODAY MOURNING CHILUBA.KK WILL REMAIN THE GREATEST LEADER OF AFRICA AND I SALUTE HIM. LONG LIVE ZAMBIAS LIBRATER LONG LIVE K.K.
Tell me you guys, who has never stolen in their life? How many of you were sponsored by our government and you have decided to stay in your foreign countries without even going to serve for what they did for you. He, who is without sin let him or her cast a stone. You are all hypocrites and your parents would be ashamed of you. Kaiyeni fye mukunwa ifimalwa.
KK what a guy!!! FTJ celebrated LPM’s death because he felt LPM harassed him after he left office. FTJ harassed KK and the later had cause to habour a grudge against the former, but he didn’t. He has mourned him with genuine sorrow…..Jeez what a guy!!!!!!!
#27 – But has KK renounced his earlier evil deeds?Lenshina genocide, Nalumino Mundia, Chigaga, Kapwepwe etc.
Rubbish .. You fool. Chigaga has heart problems just like Chiluba. Unlike Chiluba, Chigaga underwent heart surgeon like late Russian president.. Mundia was a renown witch like katele.
Remember how Chiluba humiliated Kaunda by ordering a massive search of Kaunda’s residence after he had left state house claiming he had stolen government property worth millions of dollars. After many hours of searching what did they find? 1 VERY OLD POLITICAL BOOK which was packed in error by Kaunda himself believing that it was his own personal copy, NOTHING ELSE.
CHILUBA NEVER APOLOGISED FOR THIS HUMILIATING INCIDENTS AND MANY MORE YET KAUNDA IS URGING US TO MOURN HIM IN DIGNITY.
WAS KAUNDA REALLY A BAD MAN, YOU DECIDE.
#29 well summarized, some Zambians hate KK and think he brought the country down, fact of the matter is that dispite the country going through a hard time, we had manufacturing at its pick with companies like Mines, Rover Zambia, Zambia Airways and lot other that just needed Management Overhaul. The man we are burying today took things out of control with no true facts, just to say KK was bad.
What has that taken Zambia to? Ground Zero, a country which cannot afford their own national Carrier to help them boost Tourism.
As you said, Chiluba was so arrogant that he did not know to apologies, let this be a lesson to us all that sorry if free of charge and we can correct mistakes. Chiluba really messed the country MHSRIP.
So finally they are taking the short fella to the new landfill at Embassy park. Has it now been gazetted as a body disposal site? Chiluba was a very arrogant little chap and cheated many Zambians with his Christianity antics. What has his declaration of Zambia as a christian nation brought to Zambia? Nothing, just ‘tuckshop churches’ at every street corner. KK’s humanism was better. We had humanism week and it was practical!!!
Maybe i should after all become a vegetarian.Kutiwabako nga super ken…old but still going strong.
Back from my Holiday, What a wonderful time! Came back this morning
No proposal from Nick, but It is his loss
We stayed at the Mastines hotel from June 25th until the yesterday and it was the ultimate getaway! We had the time of our lives and even considered extending the holiday and rebooking our flight while we were there.
I know a lot of you can not afford Holidays, but don’t give up! But we are planning another one to the Maldives. That is how you spend a weekend! We can’t even notice money came from our accounts when we paid; we have saved quite a lot lately.
I strongly suggest It. Thanks
Coming back to Dr Kaunda I watched a documentary on him on You tube when they talked of his life, and I don’t know if it is age, but the ex president was an embarrassment and he was all over the place.
Very incoherent in his answers and he did not answer any questions asked of him. He was an absolute embarrassment to say the least. He sought of smiled when he didn’t have, talked of things he was asked.
Don’t get m wrong I love Dr Kaunda but he was a laughing stock on that interview, and embarrassed me and all you people here. I hope he doesn’t look back with pride. It was done by Harry Keisler, conversation with History I think, Anyone seen it?
I immediately binned the video. Thanks
#33 Mushota, wish you can change your name to cherly or carol this “zambian” one is hard .Welcome back then, wish we can ask more about you sweet holiday but to day it’s burial.
#3 you share my view, I’m so confused too probably the should have used good news bible simple to understand.
The only evil KK did was to rule forever wish he handed over after 15yrs. He is still my favourite of them all. Cheers people God loves our nation we should continue loving him in return. We need to look round for a leader with a right vision. Wish they can compete live on television before we can choose one.
Should our former first republican president, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda and UNIP activists be tried at The Hague for their involvement in the massacre of members of the Lumpa Church?
The massacre of the Lumpa adherents by the United National Independence Party (UNIP) militia and the Zambian security forces is perhaps the darkest chapter in our history. An army officer – who witnessed the atrocious killing of Lumpas at Paishuko settlement in eastern Zambia, on August 7th 1964 – narrated the shocking experience as follows:
Many of the women and children had stakes thrust into anus or vagina or down their throats – this is how they were tortured to death
This description is captured in John Hudson’s book, “A Time To Mourn” in which some official police photographs of the monstrous event depict a man with a stake hammered into his mouth, burnt corpses, and a woman who, after being repeatedly raped, had the skin of the inside of her thighs torn off.
Between July and September 1964 when the Lumpa-UNIP war started, over twenty thousand Lumpa faithful fled the country and settled in the Katanga province of the Congo.
It is also estimated that at least two thousand members of the sect were killed by government soldiers alone, though official sources claim the figure to be slightly lower. The statistics, however, exclude thousands more who were wounded, and others who died from starvation, sickness and trauma on their journey into the Diaspora.
Dan Pule that does not mean you should also be ‘praying’ before getting a new woman
#36 was it before independence ? Uuuuuh no we are not visiting that back. Let us go forward now that we have developed our constitution we know what should have done then but we do not need to go that route. We have failed to collect stolen funds which is so recently why talk of old thing that 79% of us can’t even understand easily
Tiyende pamodzi ndimutima umo. Tiyende pamodzi ndimutima umo. A youth tiyee, a youth tiyee….
All am interested in is the money he stole from Zambians, can we have it back so we can put it in the right place. who is the chief mourner Regina or Vera? my ass………..
whaaaaaaaaaaaaat
This #34 “Mushota” fuu you are an embarrassment. I have watched that documentary more than once and sent the link to friends who liked it. Why are you so stoopid? Put your real name and stop misbehaving fuuu.
KK man of the people, I love and respect you. I salute you Sir. At your age you are expected to make mistakes in your interview, a man of your calibre you are still intact and you have the right and choice to answer questions or dodge them in your own way (after all you have got your full pension). You are the only Leader in Zambia whom people have accepted your remarks of “stupid ***** ” no one else will tell Zambians that. You put Zambia on the map during your rule now its vanished its hard to find Zed on the map. KK Long LIVE.
DR. Chiluba you have died with great Honor and as a greatest president in the world for declaring Zambia a Christian Nation and you have left a deeper and wide foundation for economical growth, Christianity and Democracy .M.I.S.R.I..I.P
We shall miss you for making a foundation for the benefits the country is reaping now even though we are a long way to the mark. Your visionary presidency made a way for Zambia. A great President you were.
KK so dignified and to be admired, he is a big man and full of wisdom, God bless
buti oke we feel sorry for the children and many grandchildren…ba la chula pantu na expended family ba la fwaya aka nono(Regina’s side)
You mean the old man couldn’t give us back the money even on his death bed. Its sad to see that none of our presidents children have done anything to further themselves. No doctors, engineers, economists…even bwo kaponya they have failed.
#47 – You mean Kaindu and Miko and Hellen and Hotensia to be doctors and engineers. ha, ha, ha Look at the parentage first of…
Good evening
I’m glad to register that a portion of civility has returned to the comments on trhe forum. I needed some time out after witnessing the unbelievable hate tantrums that followed shortly after the death of our late president (MHSRIP).
Despite the tragic losses of both his successors, it is such a great consolation to still have KK around. His role as First President especially the peaceful power transistion in the early 90s will always be appreciated by Zambians. He did not try to move the goal posts after MMD’s landslide victory but he humbly conceded defeat and even congratulated his political adversaries unlike other African leaders who ruthlessly cling to power, provoking the masses to kindle civil wars in their countries – see Ivory Coast, Egypt, Liberia or Libya.
#33 mwana waimbwa iwe, Chiluba RIP, Viva PF Viva Sata
No #33 nimwana wa nkumba
Around mid night on July 18, St. Peter was taking care of the Pearly Gates. As he looked down the pathway, he saw Chiluba (a notoriously thieving and adulterous former African president) coming up the path. He told Chiluba, “There’s got to be some mistake, I wasn’t expecting you so soon. You were supposed to provide re-election campaign consultancy services to Rupiah and see him lose miserably to Chilufya”. “From there Sata as the new Chief Executive of Zambia would arrest you and you will serve a lengthy jail term for plunder, what happened?”. “Campaign for Rupiah for letting me off the hook and my political engineering and dribbling,” said Chiluba. “I don’t think I understand said St. Peter.”
“Well “ci” Rupiah asked me to round up Luapulan MPs at my residence to draw up his re-election campaign strategy in Luapula. That’s when this “Katangese” who wears shed even at night said, ‘Fred, let’s drink this maheu I brought from Mwense.’ and like an *****, I drunk it. Six hours letter I was enroute to hear and my silly saviour was convinced by the Katangese that I had forbid a postmortem conducted on my body!” St. Peter retorted, good riddance, now f.u.c.k o.f.f.!
The day finally arrived: Dora Siliya dies and arrives at the Pearly Gate, where she is met by St. Peter, himself. The gate is closed, and Dora approaches the gate keeper. St. Peter says, “Well, Dora, it’s certainly good to see you. We’ve heard a lot about you. I must inform you that the place is filling up fast, so we’ve been administering an entrance exam to everyone. The tests are short, but you must pass before you can enter Heaven.”
Dora responds, “It shore is nice to be here, St. Peter. I been lookin’ forward to this. Nobody told me about any exams. Sure do hope the test ain’t hard; life were a big enough test.” St. Peter explains, “Yes, I know Dora; but, the test I have for you is only three questions. First, What days of the week begin with the letter T? Second, how many seconds are there in a year? Third, what is God’s first name?” Dora goes away to think about the questions. She returns the next day and approaches St. Peter to answer the questions. St. Peter asks, “Now that you have had a chance to think about the questions, tell me your answers.” Dora replies, “Well, that first one, how many days of the week begin with the letter T; sure, that one’s easy; that’d be Today and Tomorrow!”
St. Peters’s surprise shows, and he exclaims, “Dora! That’s not what I was thinking, but …you do have a point, and I guess I didn’t specify, so I give you credit for your answer. How about the next one? How many seconds in a year?” “Now that one’s harder,” says Dora, “But, I think and think about it, and I guess the only answer is twelve.” Astounded, St. Peter says, “Twelve? Dora, how in Heaven’s name could you come up with twelve seconds in a year?” Dora says, “Sure, there’s gotta be twelve; January second, February second, March second…” “Hold it”, interrupts St. Peter, “I see where you’re going with this, and I guess I see your point, though that wasn’t quite what I had in mind, I’ll give you credit for that one, also.
Let’s get to the next and final question. Can you tell me God’s first name?” Dora says, “Well, sure, that’s easy, I know God’s first name. Everybody”s gotta know it. It is Howard.” “Howard?, asks St. Peter. “What makes you think it’s Howard?” Dora answers, “Why, it’s in the prayer.” St. Peter asks, “What prayer?” “The Lord’s prayer. Our father, who art in heaven, Howard be thy name!” St. Peter retorts, “that’s a nullity you dunderhead, go to hell and f.u.c.k the devil.
Mu ni sehisize bo Kanjoko, though you should not have ended the odessy with an insult. Anyway you gave a good ending to my day
KK you were the only fit president andf is still is. Bonse besafye ababola kale look at what is the most favoured in the next election. Anyway we have become used to presidential bye-elections.
u next but RB will go first
KK you were the one who set this corruption practices in motion, the deaths of LPM and Chiluba is a reminder that you too will pay for the mess you started. But since you are not an imminent threat to the country we will pray for RB demise before the elections… God does not like ugly and RB seem to be the ugliest of them all… from a beggar of smokes (buffoon) and now want people to bow down to him… once a beggar always a beggar except now he has the opportunity to embezzle public funds. KK don’t be sad about the dead be sad that you are backing the current crook in the state house. Shame on you old man.
HH looked like a primary school class monitor yesterday at the funeral.
@ 16, Ine Wine. Its surprising you dont know to this day that Dan Pule anakwatila kudala and his name has since changed to “Dan Hule”.
So man shall live so he shall die
What is Caleb talking about and what model is he referring to? Chiluba was not an economist, I think Caleb has lost his touch, we need a new governor before he turn us into hungry millionaires and billionaires like Zimbabwe.
@ 37 VJ RIGGER. Lenshina is the one who commited attrocities. Can you imagine having people axed because they dont subscribe to your religion. By the way how old were you then? Do you know that people were made to drink her urine and smear themselves with her ‘matuvi’ because she made them believe they would posses special powers, magical, i think! How about asking people to dive from a tree to their death because she convinced them that the angels would protect them. VJ RIGGER think before you post anything.
Nice blog right here! Additionally your site quite a bit up very fast! What web host are you using? Can I get your associate link to your host? I want my web site loaded up as fast as yours lol
