Share

FLASHBACK: President Rupiah Banda and an MMD parliamentary candidate

The ruling MMD has become the first political party to announce adopted Members of Parliament to contest on its ticket in this year’s election.

And the MMD National Executive Committee (NEC) has adopted six opposition Patriotic Front and two United Party for National Development UPND MPs to contest on its ticket.

Others include National Democratic Focus (NDF) President Ben Mwila who is standing in Nchelenge Constituency while nominated Finance and National Planning Minister Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane is standing in Liuwa constituency.

The six PF MPs are Bahati’s Besa Chimbaka who is also Luapula Province Minister, Dr Jacob Choongo (Mwense), Dr. Peter Machungwa (Luapula) who is now standing in Kabwata, Faustina Sinyangwe (Matero), Majory Mwape who has been fielded in Munali constituency in Lusaka and Elizabeth Mulobeka Chitika will re-contest her Kawambwa seat.

Expelled Namwala UPND MP Major Robbie Chizhyuka will re-contest his seat on the MMD ticket and so will another UPND bigwig Josephine Limata who will re-contest the Luampa constituency seat on the ruling party ticket.

UNIP’s Mkhondo Lungu is standing in Lundazi and FDD’s Levy Ngoma will contest the Sinda seat.

Katanshi and Kasama central constituencies’ adoptions have been deferred.

President Rupiah Banda announced this to ZANIS last evening after a full NEC meeting that sat at State House to finalise the selection of names in the morning.

“I’m pleased to announce the full list of adopted parliamentary candidates for the MMD as adopted by a full MMD NEC which sat today at State House,” announced President Banda in a press statement released to ZANIS last evening by his Special Assistant for Political Affairs Dr. Francis Chigunta.

Seasoned politicians from both the ruling and opposition members who have also been adopted include Patrick Ngoma (Feira), Donald Chilufya (Chawama), Muhabi Lungu (Lusaka Central), Major Celestino Chibamba (Shiwang’andu) and David Diangamo (Itezhi-Tezhi)

New entrants include Japhen Mwakalombe (Chongwe), Dr. Carnitius Banda (Mandevu), Rosaria Fundanga (Chilubi), Chileshe Kapwepwe (Chinsali), Mwalimu Simfukwe (Mbala), Laiven Apuleni (Mbabala) and Joshua Simuyandi (Pemba).

Others are Trymore Mwenda (Chikankata), Dr. Victor Mukonka (Monze Central), Noah Siasimuna (Siavonga), Muti Beyani (Sinazongwe) and Charles Mututwa for Senanga Central among others. The rest of the MMD current MPs have maintained their seats in this year’s adoption process.

Ronal Mukuma (Kabompo MP), Gunston Sichilima (Mbala MP) and Charles Shawa for Feira are among those who have not been adopted this year.

Meanwhile, President Banda who is also MMD President observed that the selection process was transparent, meticulous and highly competitive.

He congratulated the adopted candidates and wished them success in their campaigns in this year’s polls.

Mr. Banda appealed to MMD aspirants who have not been adopted to continue supporting the ruling party and not retreat into bitterness.

“The unsuccessful aspirants should note that the selection process was a balanced collective exercise involving the entire party through NEC,” President Banda said.

He urged all the MMD members to put the interests of the party above their own and campaign vigorously to ensure that the ruling party wins this year tripartite elections.

  1. PF will win the Munali, Matero, Kabwata, Chawama,Mwense,Mbala, Chongwe, mandevu, Baharti,Kawambwa and Nchelenge with a landslide

    • You are a liar. Did you attend the ward byelections in Kawambwa in February when announcements were being made andChitika could not stand the results and run away? Up to know people in Kawambwa are up for change and the statistics in Kawambwa show that no MP has got the vote in a roll since 1991. Chitika will see her end of political career this year.

  2. As a country we must do away with medieval era political deviousness like being practiced by rupiah & his MMD.
Announcing parliamentary candidates without dissolving parliament and an election date is prejudicial to the nation and an abuse of discretion.
We need to do away with this hide & seek over election dates.

  3. Lets support RB and MMD in this year election. If Zambians make a problem of voting Sata and PF , he may bring Catholic – Protestants conflict like the way it is happening in Ireland.

Sata always seem to see that only Roman Catholic members are honesty like the way he said at Mangani’s welcome party in Chipata. Sata is already antagonising Zambians from other Churches especially non Catholics.

Sata is not welcoming Protestants in his PF party, only saying,”if am not a catholic……” I used to support Sata and PF but he seem not to welcoming Zambian Protestants in PF.

This may bring him down in future as Protestants will feel LEFT OUT!!!

    LONG LIVE MMD and RB!!

    • Ba Shaka you are either F.U.C.K.I.N.G sick up stairs or highly delusional??? I wonder why people like you are quick to propagate violence

  4. This indeed is abuse of privilledge. There is a maxmum show of unsolicited arrogance on the presidency as regards announcing the election date. Any way you look at it, your symbol is ticking and not dead as on your campaign regalia.

  5. Lusaka times, may you please publish the whole lis of nominees of MMD for all 150 constituencies, the information you’ve provided to us is insufficient

  6. Shaka OZ you must be standing on your head or hanging upside down there in Australia because you are not making any sense.

  7. Madam Bank of Zambia Governor is standing in Chilubi !! – Zambia is truly a land of opportunity for all opportunists!

  8. #3 I hear you but guess what, he might not be abusing his discretionary powers; he was merely doing a party and not a government duty. I know it’s difficult to draw a line but we’re to blame. The constitution that was not adopted could have solved the anxiety being experienced by most people in the opposition. It appears MMD went into some seriousness in that they did not adopt some current MPs. I just hope the opposition will not run for them and think they’re elephants! It may look like it’s hide and seek but the man is constitutionally right.. The best we can do is to seek a real change without emotions.

  9. #9 Bag Lady

How a i standing on head or hanging upside down here in Australia because am not making any sense?

    You Moron Chipanzee!!!!!!!!!

  10. #9 Bag Lady

    I mean,

“How am i standing on head or hanging upside down here in Australia because am not making any sense?”

  11. # 11 Exactly my point…..it is a constitutional provision that is being abused by the president and that must stop because it is costly to the nation.
Please do not blame the failed constitution making process on the opposition parties.
The process failed because the govt was disingenuous and hijacked the whole process. The govt must take responsibility for the failure.

  12. Good for MMD to make the announcement of candidates. Where is PF and UPND they should also let us know who is standing on their party. The election should be held on September or October and Never in rain season.

  13. only 35? of this list will make it, most of the current members of parliament wont make it? MMD is in trouble this year

  14. But my name is not there ba MMD. I will defect to UPND for adoptions now. I can see an appoturnity to use.

  15. Can sumone tell this tombolilo of a president to anounce the date for polls, he cant hold the nation at ransom like the way he is doing with this outrageous impunity. Humpty Dumpty twakupapata mambala endesha!

  16. dont just b a vuvuzela, educate yo family nd friends.rural areas to vote wisely.otherwise we wil never change colonio diaper$.

  17. Sichilima and Shawa mwawa Bakaili, Sichilima the Boxing ring is waiting for you Galagata Vs Sichilima, entry free, refere Mulongoti.

  18. PF has already won all the constituncies in lusaka leaving only chilanga to upnd. These years elections are the easiest elections for the pf to win.

  19. #19 I have told the F.O.O.L but he is adamant as usual he is also saying I won’t kubeba bwangu ba mambala. Thankyou for adopting the rebels. You will cry like a chimbwi. RBish.

  20. Now we know why some of these civil servants were behaving like politicians while they were holding public offices. Dr Victor Mukonka has been behaving like a fo.ol for a very long time. He has spent most of his working life stealing government money and abusing government vehicles. He was being promoted for being MMD vuvuzela not for hard working. Now he will be bruised politically, he should never dream to be an MP. It is an illusion that he can win Monze central seat, never.

  21. Im not a fan of the current MMD but the list has seems to have some credible people. Doesnt matter if they lose. Atleast this is a sign of seriousness on the part of MMD. Parliament issues needs to be taken seriously not just sending a bunch of clowns who end up dozing in the middle of sessions. I mean people who can debate issues not just to go there to ask for free coffee and enjoy the comfort of the famous National Assembly Motel. Im anxiously waiting to see who the other parties will nominate.

  22. pf rebels thought they would have it both ways but alas they have been dumped by the mmd in their former party’s stronghold, its like being thrown mu kanwa ka nkalamo. political prostitution needs perfect timing it is not bad at all!

  23. You are right #23 Kashimani. Im sure even him knows that he has already lost the election even b4 the date is announced. Wrong move

  24. You are right # 26. political prostitution needs proper timing. The likes of Sylvia Masebo, Mike Mulongoti, George Mpombo, Mbita Chitala and recently Patuliki Mwanwasa will live to regret there actions. I really cant wait for the election date to be annonced

  25. wait for PF list.already Matero,Lusaka Central,Munali,Chongwe,Mandevu,Chawama and Kabwata ni 5-0.Who is manning the Ministry of Health. all Doctors have become MMD cadres.

  26. Non-of these adopted MMD candidates can win in Lusaka. i feel sorry 4 people like Peter Oranges and Majory Mwape coz this marks the end of their political career.

  27. Do not be bothered by the election date imwe bakaponya, Just prepare for the elections and your adoptions from the stations, the elections are definetily this year.Kwasila! VIVA MMD, BOMA ni BOMA! wina azalila, wonderfu team, at least full of seasoned and interlectuals.

  28. is there an alternative blogging site that is not so pro MMD, these guys are jokers. Every single story about the MMD has had a full page coverage, MMD thugs beat up Jurnos and threaten to gang rape a woman and they give that a single paragraph…

Any back to the point.. MMD is playing ambush tactics, they have their list ready they can go to the polls tomorrow if they want to…. I smell a rat here

  29. Looks like MMD leads and the rest are followers. Let’s give credit where it is due, MMD has shown fantastic organisation from the provincial to the national conventions to the adoption of parliamentary candidates now. Please spare people the nonsense of forcing RB to announce the election date. He is well within the constitution that he swore to uphold, which we know certain politicians would not uphold. The questions should be directed at Mr Sata and his PF and Post and Musa Mwenye for holding a national convention where no ballots were cast.

  30. #8 successor, buy a copy of the Zambia Daily Mail or the Times of Zambia. That is where to get good information like this.

  31. So ma Guys you believe me now that, UNIP is MMD now and MMD is UNIP? These pipo mentioned/adoptees are and where NOT real MMD supporters who belived in true MMD manifesto of 1991 but, UNIP caders most of which are Malawians in Zambian skins…

  32. Our List is donchi Kubeba. Already MMD has conceeded defeat in Matero,Chawama,Lusaka Central,Chongwe,Kabwata and Mandevu. In Mandevu its a Doctor Vs a Nurse.Obviously a nurse will caryy the day.She is more of a community worker than an administrative medical Doctor.

  33. Others are okey but not Kabwata,it is a big joke becuase people of kabwata I think will not accept people who first of all were part of the constitution and later did not vote for it in paliament and further did not refund to the treasury the allowances he got paid- No intergrit indeed despite him being a doctor of …….. He is a good man but politically he is not moraly good. hope you will reap something in kabwata.

  34. Watchdog has a full list, visit the site but it’s too boring reading all the name especial with the way the article has been written poorly. with no order.

  35. RB must be careful with his dictatorial tendencies. He has decided to announce their MPs so that they can start campaigning using Govt resources even before he dissolves Parly. Zambians wake up, see Malawi is on fire due to similartype of governance

    This is highly undemocratic….

  36. This is the first time since 1991 that candidates are announce before election date is known. Now ministers will fully use government money and vehicles to campaign, total abuse of govt resources. What is the problem with RB? Any way you will be caged.

  37. Just Know that overall, MMD will triumph. Nangu muchite shani. I hope Namakando wacthed stand up Zambia program last night, Yaba, the serpent told him off and his miniowns, that man can change, he is the most inconsistent loser I have ever come across. Chachabechabe.
    very Satanic.

  38. Is that Donald Chilufya the same one who was mu one party participatory democracy( whatever the f.uck that meant)? Unip is back kwena!

  39. The first thing we will do after the elections is to remove RBs immunity, he has taken us for granted. Campaigning with taxpayers money!!!!! ministers are all over campaigning ati they are inspecting developmental projects meanwhile they didnt even carry their clothes, all they wear is MMD-RB fitenges! shame and all they talk about is Sata! shame! As if thats not enough, we have no election date…

  40. It seems to be a very good team except for Kabwata. I think they could have consulted widely before adopting Dr. Machungwa. It looks like if it is elected then RB will have a pool of educated people to choose his cabinet. Go RB Sata ni mbushi. There is nothing that he can do.

  41. Lusaka central , Munali , Kabwata , Chongwe ,Matero , Chawama , Mandevu, Kasama , Copperbelt and Chipata Central PF has won already mark my words .

  42. Why do you want the president to announce the election date? Are you not the same minions who have been preaching “donchi kubeba”? Nomba the same donci kubeba yamugwilani. Ha ha ha ha ha! RB donchi kubeba the election date. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha etc etc etc

  43. i am looking at the list and wondering…last time we had a MoH MD enter politics, he ended up joining the violence and is convicted… now TWO more senior medics have joined. “will you survive docs?…….

  44. i wonder what kind of candidates PF will have..so much to worry about..!hahahaha..watch the space..viva 20HH

  45. GOOD EFFORT BA RB. IT HAS NT BEEN AN EASY EXERCISE BUT URGE ALL THOSE WHO WERE NOT ADOPTED TO CARRY ON WITH THEIR PROGRAMS. POLITICS IS NOT AN END THERE ARE OTHER BETTER OPPORTUNITIES ALL OVER THIS WONDERFUL COUNTRY.
WISH THE WINNING TEAM THE BEST

  46. We shall wallop these mad men and women like they have never seen. Machungwa in Kabwata after failing in Luapula? Hey you are jokers? What can Canicius Banda honestly do for the general populous when he even failed to buy panado at UTH? Rebel Majory Mwape after after being rejected by REAL Mufulira people, she even dares to be brought here in Kasaka (Lusaka)? This will surely be the easiest election for PF. Is this the reason why Rejected Banda went on rampage dishing out money all over Lusaka in the name “road resurfacing” so that even hynaes can be adopted in Lusaka? What an insult to people’s intelligence!! We thank God that surely MMD is like a mad person who is about to die……..Viva PF MPs Viva Sata wow!!!

  47. Now we await the defections from the MMD ton PF. I can see the likes of Dr Lwipa Puma, Gaston Sichilima, Vera Chiluba etc being targeted as buffaloes by PF lol!!!!

  48. RB what happened? How can you put machungwa for kabwata, Oh! i know, you want him to fail, yes we all want him to fail.

  49. SHAKA OZ!! Be serious with what you say.You think being in Australia is an archievement? How do you tell your fellow human being a “Chimpanzee”?You mean you have become a white pig?You are boasting in a foreign land?Boast in your mother land and contribute to make it a better place to live in.Those owners of that country you are in worked hard to bring their Nation to what it is today. You are being childish.

  50. When Patrick says anything the old guys feel insulted,to me it’s them to hand over to the new generation, look here we can’t keep using the old language in politics because of the Ben mwila,vj,RB etc. It’s hard to be accepted in politics pa zed even the youth are so used that the president cannot be the age of Cameroon but the pope.
You are a very annoying lots pa Zed.

  51. we lead others follow. PF stop crying for Election date like babys, mwah mwah mwah thats ubsurd. Just reorganise your selves and announce your list which ofcourse will contain illiterate People like BGM,Nsanda and opportunists like masebo, mangani etc-what a joke. look at our adopted MPs the majority with Phds and degrees which would be appropriate for our development goals achievemnets in the next 5years.MMD is winning this year,no doubt..chew chew chew, nafuti nafuti.

  52. Looking at the candidates mentioned , MMD will lose in most parts of the country They need strong candidates in lusaka and copper belt. Viva opposition and new government

  53. Iwe chi RBish announce the election date you just want your minions ministers to start distributing your RBish fitenge materials using our taxpayers monies. Whether u like it o not you are going back to your farm.

  54. RB r finished,Now tell us the date.DATE You would think we were in Egypt or Ivory coast or Libya.from North to south ,pipo are speaking.Kuya bebele..Ambush state house

  55. Very soon when date is mentioned all Banda puppits will be jobless ,he will be alone like a zombie,wE WILL welcome defectors ,no no ,we have enough,

  56. Dont talk about development if you have never seen one.We have been blinded by thinking whwen we watch a movie good buildings, schools, hospitals, roads etc are fiction,it is REAL and Banda knows,Ndola stadium newly built is the only one thing i have seen coming close to development and nothing else.Tell me something i dont know,,,,,,

  57. LT Please Corrrect! Divo Katete is standing in Nkana Constituency and NOT Kwacha.

    VIVA DIVO! Honorable.

  58. KAZENENE MY FOOT, WHAT DOES HE WANT TO CHANGE THAT HE DID NOT DO.HONESTLY THIS MAN DID NOT DO ANYTHING IN CHINGOLA CONSTITUENCY.AM MMD BUT MY VOTE IS LOST ON THIS ONE AND NOT EVEN THE PRESIDENT WILL HAVE MY VOTE.

  59. SHAKA OZ
Ka shaka stop talking from your poo hole…
We are talking about Zambia here, why you bring up northern Ireland a topic you seem to know nothing about. The conflict between the nationalists and unionist has nothing to do with the church… The Protestants are a ploy used by the English govt ( church of england) to hold on to part of Ireland!
So ka Shaka is your church part of church of England
You are talking rubbish you are worthless piece of C.R.A.P

  60. Your Excellency Mr Rupiah B. Banda
Well-done for announcing the list of MPs but don’t forget that we gave you authority.
With authority comes power. Power is the ability to influence people toward organizational objectives. However, you have limits on your authority and power. Please view your authority and power as a funnel, broad at the top and narrow at the bottom. Always assume you have enough authority and power to meet your obligations, but do not exceed that limit. Please come out and tell us the election date.

  61. Is this MMD stuff really news worthy, Why are so jittery about announcing the election date? Worried about more defections that will follow?

  62. The MMD has indeed run it’s full course, even in clear cases like Mongu Central where any sane process will adopt Dr Mwiloma Imakando, they opt for a violent functional illiterate called Joseph Mulyata. These truly are the last kicks of a dying horse. And Machungwa for Kabwata, my foot.

  63. #79 Your post justifies my concerns that I raised the other day about your use of the name of the Church on this blog. Please find another name because you are dragging the name of the church in direpute. Your language is far from representative of the church you choose to identify yourself by. It would make sense for you to say whatever you wish without bearing the church identity as you are not representing the church here. In brotherly love please use another name and announce if you wish what your new blog name is. I will continue to pray for you.

  64. I feel sorry for the rebel MPs who are standing in Lusaka. RB is very clever, he has subjected these two standing in Lsk to lose the elections. Madam Majory you made a big grave mistake to join the MMD, you cant beat Mumbi Phiri in Munali.

  65. only about 14 women adopted!!! MMD is not serious with promotion of gender equality! as a party in gpoverment should have lead by example by adopting more women!!! shame shame shame!!

  66. Hahahaha….congrates RB!!!! You have really done a very very good job by adopting these PF rebel MP’s and put them in strong PF holds. This is a good lesson to them and will be the end of their political career.I can imagine wat Peter ma orange is feeling now!!! Mmmmmm….standing with Given?????Gongrates RB once more!!! Big lesson to people who cannot be trusted.

  67. Michael Kaingi has been adopted twice (148 Mulobezi Michael Kaingu
    149 Mwandi Michael Kaingu
). I’m sure Michael Mabenga will cry foul becuase his unpopularity has already been unveiled! What a doctored document!

  68. How come kaingu stands in Mulobezi and Mwandi? Anyway good luck and may the best and honest candidates win!

  69. Lt please check your data again…. you have Mr Michael Kaingu standing in TWO constituencies, Mulobezi and Mwandi! I am sure the Mulobezi should read “Michael MABENGA.”

  70. :o Dont Kubeba …… Bwacha and Kabwe Central, Kapiri Mposhi, Munali, Kafulafuta, Lusaka Central, Kanyama, Chawama, Matero, Chongwe, Luangeni, Chipata Central, Nyimba, Kabwata,Mandevu, Mongu Central, Kasama, Mpika Central, Luapula Province, Copperbelt, Kafue all these are free constituencies….. Viva PF

    • You are correct on some but not all and mind you when its tough MMD will be second and those votes will add to RB but in other areas where PF was coming number4????? what are you armchair PF cadres doing about that we dont want war because of your perceived victory

  71. PF can you give us your list of your adopted MPs. the president will announce the date for general elections when PF submits its list of parliamentary candidates to the public. This will tell us that they are also serious in the forth coming elections. otherwise they should not be taken serious. PF are always jokers. They just joke that they are going for elections.

  72. well,MMD is loosing this year looking at candidates like Peter machungwa,Ben mwila,F.Sinyangwe etc.luapula will be landslide to PF seeing that katele won’t stand.BY is not wanted in nchelenge district. He insulted the people of nchelenge.Meanwhile, the nephew of katele will stand on PF ticket and a young brother of chief puta .Anyway RB is heading for a big defeat.PF will come up with credible candidates in luapula,Northen,Eastern,Lusaka,CB and some parts of western and central provinces.MMD will cry this year.MMD can win only have 35-40 mps if lucky this year

  73. In Lusaka, the real battle will be in Mandevu.Dr Banda is not a push over. This Doc was born in mandevu. He grew up in the same compound too and has a lot of relatives/friends still living in the same compound.I knew him from my university days and is not a push over.

  74. We as MMD have made serious blunders on Kabwata/macungwa and chingola/kazenene.How I wished progressive young ‘true blues’ were adopted for these seats to counter the kaponyaz.

  75. Land grabing issue:Zambia police have arrested 46 people believed to have assaulted three journalists and a driver working for a private-owned Lusaka-based TV channel, a police spokesperson confirmed Wednesday.Muvi TV journalists and a driver were severely beaten by about 100 people suspected to be members of the ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) when they went to pursue a story about the governing party cadres’ alleged grabbing of land in the capital – Lusaka – on Monday.Police spokesperson Ndandula Siamana said out of the 46 arrested, 26 were women. Two of the arrested suspects were identified as MMD members, she said.

  76. “Foreign investors often employ local ‘agents’ or ‘coordinators’ to identify land for lease and negotiate leases with local communities, chiefs and landowners,” the report charges.

“There is evidence that these ‘agents’ take unfair advantage of local traditions, perceptions and vulnerabilities in order to convince local populations that they will benefit from the lease deals, while refraining from discussing potential risks such as loss of farmland or negative environmental impacts,” the report says.Mittal pointed to Zambia, where she claims that 94% of the country’s land is held informally through customary rights, and where land use and ownership must be negotiated with local chiefs.

  77. #94You are correct on some but not all and mind you when its tough MMD will be second and those votes will add to RB but in other areas where PF was coming number4????? what are you armchair PF cadres doing about that we dont want war because of your perceived victory

  78. Wapya Banda yazanda. This is your end. Now you shut up and annonce the election date, not in the rain season mambala iwe.

    • I guess Pf are shaking now that MMD have anounced their list. Most Zambians know that elections are held in october except Pf.If Mmd lose they will form a strong opposition and offer all the checks and balances but so far my vote is on MMD.GUDLUCK SENSIBLE PEOPLE AND GOD BLESS,WE HAVE ONLY ONE ZAMBIA.TATWA KAFILILE MUSENGA.

  79. When will these political parties understand the need of including more young people in decision making levels we are tied to be lead by old fox who think with their stomachs. We need young people as MPs so that we can only run to these old fox for advice.

    • #106. Stop voting for the old guys. As long as you continue voting for them they wont get the picture that we want to progress. Zambia’s population is predominately young but the young don’t seem to have nerve to move the old guys out

  80. let the best team carry the day.we need the election date its a national issue we are talking about dont kubeba does not come in.even if i have not seen the pf list i still think the current mood in the country favours a strong opposition party.mmd campaign strategy of using spent forces like dola is not helping them.rb drove out a lot of usefu pipo from mmd.

  81. #39 chumbu mushololwa, you are tribalist, racist, tyranny, if given any chance you can bring bloodshed, how can you call fellow Zambians to be Malawians in Zambia skin? You deserve to be rebuked.

  82. There is nothing new in R>B party all are old timers with nothing to offer. Don’t kubeba

P.F is winning. Let Banda and his children go before they destroy the country They claim to show builds as development when you do not have bread on your table. Henery go back to Italy and work, than campaign and drawing a salary for doing nothing.

  83. Hey Guys, Update me, Mr Magande has been QUIET, are the adoptions for his party in progress or he is still thinking, perhaps thinking there is still enough time, campaigns are on where is he? Which paper is covering him?

  84. #110 What about Sata? Mpombo? Nkandu Luo? Sylvia Masebo? They can hardly be termed ‘new blood’. A word of advice my friend, if you are going to try and diss your opponent, try and do it with something that they can not throw right back at you but then again you are a paltry faculties (pf) supporter so I guess logic and forethought will not be your strong point.

  85. igwee wa igwee are sure of what you are talking about. who is gulping up o ex mmd spent politicians. you are in for a rude shock if u think pf is forming govt.

  86. If Sata wins the Presidency, he will be the weakest President in Zambian history with a minority in Parliament. This is a winning team. Mr Sata will have to eat amble pie and pick Ministers from outside his PF. Guy Scott is going.
Well, this will be good for democracy, a lame duck Sata.

  87. Musonda Kabengele you and other zambians are petty and full of jealous. PF promises less tax and more money in the pocket does that make sense to you where does your leader put windfall tax then???SATA was in the MMD govt longer than RB AND WE HAVE SEEN RBs fruits in the 2years he has been president.

  88. i singled out dola looking at her method of campaign.lets wait and c how those who have been attracted to pf will help.dont forget that mangani, masebo, magande,&others together with their supporters gave rb votes which is not the case now.where is mmd gaining ground now?

  89. Munali needs an eloquent, charismatic and intelligent MP like Majory. Good choice ba MMD, now go and sell her to the electorate in the constituency. We are fed up of mediocre leaders. Civic NGOs should organise debates involving all aspiring candidates so that the electorate can make informed decisions. Good luck all aspiring candidates and may the best candidates win.

  90. MMD Member held to ransom. Rupiah announces candidates before dissolution of Parley, making all those planning to leave feel comfortable. It is a clever move but as someone indicated it is abuse of power. It has never happened in Zambia before. Expect election date soon and dissolution of Parley. We are not scared of these I.D.I.O.T.S for candidates.

  91. Whether you like it or not the most “cross over” leader currently is Michael Chilufya Sata. From UNIP to MMD to PF.

  92. There is one equation i have seen on ZWD,. It goes like this, MMD+PF=UNIP, UNIP+PF=MMD,UNIP+MMD=PF. Is this true?

  93. Mulenga for Ndola central. What’s wrong MMD. Its looks like the ruling has no desire to win sits on the Copperbelt

  94. None of these chaps can win in Lusaka. Chaps like BY, Chitika , Mulyata will also tumble. This will be an easy election for PF. It gona be LAND SLIDE VICTORY, BUMPER HARVEST!!

  95. All i can say is that the majority of those on the list are unknown to us the voters e.g all i know about Dr Canisius Banda is that he used to have a great column in the Post, Marjory Mwape only heard about her when she “resigned from PF”, Peter Machungwa, Faustina Sinyangwe notorious PF rebels, Muhabi Lungu an opportunist always gets jobs through connections just like his adoption. I hope they will base there campigns on ISSUES and not telling me why i should not vote for a certain opposition leader.

  96. Congratulations to all who have been adopted and good luck in the elections. To those aspirants who have not been adopted take heart for only 150 can be adopted at a time, remain loyal and contribute in what ever way possible. All the best to the MMD.Thanx LT for update

  97. Hai WHAT CRITERIA WAS BIN USED IN THE MMD ADOPTION PROCESS.ON THE COPPERBELT RURAL DISTRICTS THEY HAVE LEFT THOSE CANDIDATES LIKED BY THE GRASS ROOTS
SOME CANDIDATES ARE CRIMINALS ELECTORATES WILL BE RUNNING AWAY FROM THEM WHEN THEY GO OUT TO CAMPAIGN FOR FEAR OF BIN KIDNAPPED.

  98. it will be interesting indeed to see the kaponya(mps) for PF,mr one man commando(sata)pls give us yours kekekekekekekkekekekekeke

  99. Is Felix Mutati still alive or he has since kicked the bucket? The poor tree he ran into is now seriously injured, kota ya mulimu meeee!

  100. Pleased to note that the late Kapwepwe is being honoured through the selestion of the Great Freedom Fighter’s daughter, Chileshe Kapwepwe. Women voters must go full blast to support Chileshe’s candidature. May The Good Lord bless her for this historical recognition. Also happy to see a fine team of politicians featuring under the MMD ticket. This is a trully National Team. Bravo to the people of Zambia in their quest to uphold the national slogan of “One Zambia One Nation”.

  101. The MMD and their strategy, soon nyama Soya is going to announce the election date while the opposition is still considering who to adopt and etc. Anything is possible in this year’s elections. One big surprise Peter Machungwe standing in Kabwata!

  102. Rubbish list Mutati please stand on PF ticket….your career will end Zambia still needs your expertise……this list is absolutely rubbish

  103. it embarrasing less than 50 percent woman have been adopted by the MMD. women have used as weapon for wining the election but less than half of 150 is an insult to women. when will the number of women increased in polictial participation? you have lost on this one MMD. some men are not worth standing

  104. If we are looking to change our poliltics from personal non-issues to substance, MMD is on the right track. Lusaka Central will be a battle ground where MMD need to defferentiate itself as a an evolving party the at changes with times. To do that MMD needs an energetic, articulate and well read individual, since it is wellknown that this is a PF strong hold, so fielding an ordinary candidate would be tantamount to conceeding defeat. This base perhaps represents the demography of the country today, Lusaka Central itself is the country’s intellectual base where issues are well articulated. A strong candidate to wrestle this constituency from PF albeit with a fight. Only someone with smart preditory instincts of Mohabi Lunga can bring Lusaka Central back home to MMD.

  105. How come these haters left me out. I had applied for Kasama Central and Kantanshi. Hey Senior Citizen and Capitalist, they left you too?

  106. Though the oppossition have not releasedthier lists, I can assureyou that the MMD will win 70% of the seats. Kabwata for example can go either way though the man they like is Sata and not Lubinda.Depending on her campain strategy, Marjory can beat Mumbi, who I think has failed to deliver in Munali. Lusaka central campaigns ussually concentrate around Bauleni, because the rest of the constituence consists of people who can judge by issues that one presents.Mind you Sata is not daft, and this election is the only he is counting on to become president and have good ministers. Most of the current MPs in PF will be sidelined so that he also can have a winning team. The battle for Zambia is between PF and MMD, the rest of the parties are just confusing the situation.

  107. Congratulations MMD for choosing such a powerful team.It comprises of specialists in the fields of Medicine ,Finance ,politics etc.Good to see Drs Cannidius Banda and Victor Mukonka.Give PF with it’s recycled politicians a run for it’s Taiwanese donated money.Am eagely waiting for the UPND list also.

  108. LT ,either you don’t know what you are talking about, or indeed, MMD are nuts!! They are not adopted, they are prospective candidates!! Try to use simple dictionaries to help you understand the queens language. How about chiengi, are you scared to mention???
This is simply a tactic to tie in those MMD members who are about to defect – Wina azalila!!!!!
Ala NI PABWATTTTTTTTOOOOOOOO for all you guys listed, but not nincompoops such as Machungwa & his fellow “ama “l”abels” who have been dumped so many moons ago by the party of the people PAMAKA!! Kwa MUKOLO!!!!!

  109. Well done ba MMD. May your Party President announce the election date please. We are very much prepared and please be informed that we have got all the data about your small tactics – Donchi Kubeba.

  110. Where is this gal Majory going now in Munali? She is a serious harlot how did she convience Rupiah that she can win Munali. Is it becoz of her baeuty ?she is seriously using her body .I think Rupiah wants shares in her he is tired of Dora Siliya.U can’t win munali we have been there before its a tricky constituency. As for Kabwata ,Mandevu ,Chawama ,Kanyama,Matero,Chongwe,Lusaka central ,chilanga thank RB for making it so easy for PF.Viva Pabwatooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  111. PF Rebel MPs mwaela ilyauma. You think you can compete with PF MPs in those constituencies you have been given. The end of you!!!!!!!!

  112. President Banda the zambians have a right to know when the elections will take place, We are giving 7 days to announce the election day, If you fail to do this we are going to begin a campaign at the Congress and all the American Businesses and across Europe to boycott yr Country
