Wedson Nyirenda Salutes MUZA’s Runners-up Finish

Zanaco coach Wedson Nyirenda has saluted FC Muza for securing their debut CAF continental competition qualification.

Muza qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup yesterday after beating Zanaco 2-1 away in Lusaka to finish second the Super League.

The Mazabuka side owned by lawyer Keith Mweemba has an unassailable 56 points following a 2-1 home win against Zanaco.

In a post match interview, Nyirenda, the Zanaco coach said Muza must assemble a stronger squad for CAF games.

“Congratulations to Muza. They have done it and we will support them in continental” Nyirenda said.

Muza have secured CAF club qualification with one round matches left in the Super Division season.

  1. “In a post match interview, Nyirenda, the Zanaco coach said Muza must assemble a stronger squad for CAF games”

I wonder what this statement mean. You want to dismantle a well assembled machine and replace it with what? Sometimes it is better to go with the same team that know each other instead of bringing in new players who would need time to blend in. This is why we put in shoddy performances in these competitions. We forget that losing is part of the process to strengthening the team. No need for new faces.

  2. Nyirenda knows what he is talking about. The team needs players with international experience or calibre. Even Kompany said the same thing in England after his club qualified to the super league. The team you are winning the lower league with will face a very different challenge in another league and they most of the time fail unless you strategically inject certain skilled players within it. MUZA have never been in continental leagues so if they are ambitious they will need to heed Nyirenda’s advice
