STATE HOUSE has advised Committee of Citizens executive director Mr Gregory Chifire to put down a formal complaint with the law enforcement agencies over the 15 million South African Rand transaction, which he is linking to a spouse of an unidentified senior military officer.

This is according to a press statement released to the media by state house press aide.

This follows Mr Chifire’s challenge that the Zambian Government comes out clean on the 15 million South African Rand, which he alleges was deposited into an FNB Bank account in Johannesburg on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 by a wife of one of the senior military officers he unfortunately has not named.

As a result, State House has implored law enforcement agencies like the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) to invite Mr. Chifire and engage him on these very serious concerns he has raised.

Furthermore, State House has encouraged Mr Chifire to report any suspected unlawful activity linked to the first family to the relevant law enforcement agencies.

This is after Mr Chifire alleged that President Michael Sata’s son Mulenga, has purchased two luxurious automobiles among them, a brand new Jeep, both valued at K1.8 billion within a period of 60 days,

Since ascending to office, the President has frequently affirmed that his administration is determined to fight corruption and that there will be no sacred cows.

Therefore, it is only appropriate and responsible for Mr Chifire as a citizen to promptly inform the law enforcement agencies and provide irrefutable evidence of wrong-doing wherever such illegal conduct is identified or suspected.

According to the statement, State House wishes to underline President Sata’s standpoint: “No one will be shielded from prosecution once it has been evidently established that a crime has been committed in spite of their status in society. Zambians must be equal before the law.”

For that reason, the President has appealed to the law enforcement agencies in particular, the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) to summon both Mr Chifire and his son Mulenga to assist with investigations.

  1. GOOD MOVE. Let some of this psycophants who says whatever comes to their imagination be held accountable for what they say. Let the government sue Chifire if it proves that the allegations he made are false. Too much of this NGOs that were born out of the MMD corrupt reign!

  2. We only  hope that Mr. Chifire will own up and provide evidence to law enforcement agents so that the whole issues he has raised are deal with  within the confines of the law. Otherwise if this moron is telling lies just to appease the public, he should be dealt with so that he becomes an example to others who like feasting and spreading of malicious statemenst alarming the nation just to put food on their tables.

    Thanks.

  3. This is good stance by GRZ. Pipo like politicking. On the other hand, GRZ needs to introduce life-style audit of suspected criminals. If Mulenga was driving a toyota corola in July and he has a Jeep now, I also need to do the same business he is doing now. ..I remember seeing Mulenga working in stationery shop last year..he actually assisted me making photocopies of my business plan!!!..I’m guessing he has over 100000% salary increase to afford a Jeep if the story is true.

  4. hateful spiteful big ego and a creepy face there is nothing good about Chifire

    Who is he anyway

Spoiling my breakfast Ayrshire Back Bacon, Ramsay’s of Carluke Pork Sausages, Haggis, Black Pudding, a raw tomato and a cup of coffee

  5. Now the onus is on him to provide credible evidence of wrong doing. If he has only been politicking he is really playing a very dangerous game with the cobra

  6. And if he has the evidence, as it seems to be the case, then DEC should act without fear. Lock-up up this sudenly rich Mulenga chap and confiscate the 2 brand new vehicles whih he could not afford when he was selling DOGS.

  7. This is a caregous man who should not be villified but praised, mind you he is risking his own life to put things right for the country.

Mr Sata has a history of killing people at night and this young man is not scared…case in point Penza, Paul Tembo etc

  8. The Committee of Citizens elected by the Zambian people is the Parliament. Now, which citizens elected Chifire’s committee?

  9. By now you should have changed your chorus. Your friend liffwekelo is now pf. dont forget you need state protection to carry out your dirty work. Judiciary and police is now pf

  10. I dont think hakainde is working on means of consolidating his part because his party is still not a stronghold.I advise him as president to stop working with the fomer MMD part. That party is corrupt and cndemed.

  11. Ba LT Admin,

This press statement  was released yesterday afternoon and you posting in today, its high time you guys started posting your own stories!!

  12. Just to let you guys know, I am selling a refrigerated truck (canter) in Zambia, which has a cold blaster going down to -31 degrees celcius and is in excellent condition. Recently imported from Japan and everything works. Give me heads up if anybody is interested. contact: tanganyikaspecies (at) gmail dot com

  13. # 10 Gibertlubinda, you are a liar and a fool. Do not lie about things you don’t know anything about. I remember the case you are talking about abd I knew the la Kalima and his family very well. That case had nothing to do with the late a Mr kalima’s wife. It was a case involving a driving offence in 1973/74 and Mrs Kalimamukwento was the one involved in this case. There was a mix up with the names and rumour went round that Mr kalima had arrested his wife. He as called all manner of names then and people used to ask his wife why she got married to somone like that. Truth Late Mrs kalima till her death in 2001 did not even know how to switch a car engine on let alone drive. So stop chatting tripe about things that you have knowledge about ad tarnishing other peoples names.

  14. #10 Gobertlubinda. This dirving offence case happened in Kitwefor your own information. so put a lid on it mate you demagogue

  15. It is only in Zambia where whistle blowers are intimidated by those who are suppose to act on the information. It is not up to Chifire to prove those allegations but the investigative wings. Chifire can only help with the investigations. Let us not be seen as scaring those who are reporting corruption in the present government. If we say we are are allergic to corruption then we should be able do deal with anyone involved in the vice irrespective of their social or political status.

  16. This case is true, but they have already covered it. The two cars are real and have been bought by Mulenga. The only thing is that Chifire cant prove that they were obtained by public funds.

  17. It would help the country a lot if all these allegations are reported to the relevant authority than just issuing statements to the papers. Let him provide the details to the authorities so that the issue is probed. Damn tired of these issues coming from these NGOs whose agenda know one knows except themselves. Suspicious deals, just go to the police provided you have evidence not just yapping through the media. The police do not act on hearsay!

  18. There is a husge difference between courage and stupidity, #16. Let us hope he will also show the same courage to meet his fate should he be found lying.

  19. @29 democrat, i dont think he is being intimidated at this stage. he is just being encouraged to do his job properly.

very mature response from state house.

  20. ala ka chifire kachili kalelwa. where is he kanshi. show me his whereabouts so that i sort him out once and for all. it seems no one wants to tell this bugger off.

  21. Law enforcement agencies are headed by individuals appointed by the president. Like everyone else they would by all means hold on to their ‘bread and butter’ provided by Mulenga’s father, Sata. This investigation will not materialise into anything tangible even if Mulenga was found to have obtained the vehicles by corrupt means. That is the danger we face as a country with a constitution that allows presidents to possess excessive powers. Sata may utter anything to please his electors, but deep down his heart he will not like to see his son convicted and sent to prison. Police are aware of that, presiding judges know it. The allegation is unlikely to materialise into any reasonable investigation that can take hold.

  22. From past experience it has proved impossible to send the sitting president’s close family members to prison. Kambarange Kaunda killed Elizabeth Mwanza at point blank range. He was convicted and sentenced to death by Justice Clever Musumali in the early 1990s. At the very next appeal, Chief Justice Annel Silungwe, a presidential appointee hijacked the process and presided over the appeal when in fact an ordinary judge should have done that. The reason was simple, to facilite a complete acquital and avoid even a mimimum reduced sentence as is the norm in such cases. Later we had Castrol Chiluba who shot a girl at the night club. This case did not even see light of day. The poor girl luckily survived and only got a meagre out of court compensation and possibly told to keep her mouth shut.

  23. Mushota how do you manage such luxuries during this recession in the developed world. Let me know your secret. I just had coco pops without milk, I hoped this would take me all day. My food stamps have run out and it is a weekend. I don’t know how I will get through to Monday.

  24. Director of ??  As Zambian we need to be serious, we cannot let rumour or war mongers to be on the loose  like this. These organisations are not helping in good governance, they are making people to believe in lies which is dangerous for the nation. If he has no evidence,he should be thrown in jail for lying to the nation. Chifire and his  clique need to be taught a lesson in good manners.
