Acting President Alexander Chikwanda today led people from all walks of life to attend the first memorial service for the former second republican president Fredrick Chiluba who died on 18th June last year.
Speaking at a Church service held at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross Mr. Chikwanda described the late former president as a gallant son of Africa who brought liberalization in critical sectors such as the economy and airwaves.
Mr. Chikwanda say second republican president the late Fredrick Chiluba laid a very firm foundation for strong economic growth.
Mr. Chikwanda Economic reforms that Dr. Chiluba under took during his tenure such as the structural adjustment Programme had long term benefits which have since started manifesting.
The acting president notes that Dr. Chiluba was a leader who withstood pressure and made unpopular decisions in the best interest of the country.
He noted THAT DR. Chiluba will also be remembered for being a vibrant peace broker in the region.
Mr. Chikwanda was speaking when he led scores of people during a memorial service held in honor of Dr. Chiluba who died last year on the 18th of June.
People that attended the service include first republican president Kenneth Kaunda, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Mukondo Lungu, Deputy Chief Justice Florence Mumba, Service Chiefs, Cabinet and deputy ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, Permanent Secretaries.
Others were leaders of the opposition political parties who included UPND’s Hakainde Hichilema, MMD chairman Michael Mabenga, NRP’s Cosmo Mumba and Heritage party’s Godfrey Miyanda.
After the church service mourners proceeded to Embassy Park for a wreath laying ceremony.
And Bible Gospel Church of Africa (BIGOGA) overseer Peter Ndhlovu who used to be Dr. Chiluba’s clergy said in his homily that the humiliation that the former president went through after he left office should not happen to any other leader.
Bishop Ndhlovu also noted that what has led to an increase in corruption cases in the country is lack of fear of God among the people.
The clergyman adds that corruption will only be eradicated once people begin to fear God and observe his principles.
Bishop Ndhlovu has since called for politics that will be anchored on respect adding that politics of naming calling need to be put to a stop.
QFM
THIS IS VERY TRUE !
THOUGH HE WAS TAGGED THIEF BY UKWA, CHILUBA INDEED OPENED THE MINDS OF MANY ZAMBIANS TO LEARN TO DO BUSINESS AND INVEST IN PROPERTY ETC
IT’S ONLY A SHAME ON UKWA! HIS FAILURES KEEP DEEPENING DAY BY DAY!
WE CHANGE HIM IN 2016 !!!
Tiza kubwelamo manje Chikwanda
Strong foundation for thieving and corruption indeed!
Please let us learn to give credit where it is due. Chiluba gave the freedom to speak on any thing which was not the case before. He also brought proper communication tool like cell phones which we are now using even to insult him. O God help us Zambians we easily forget.
Above all he moved Zambia from a Humanist foundation to a Christian foundation. KK is a Devil worshiper like Sata. God’s favor came with Chiluba (something too deep for most demented tujilijili PF Catholic supporters to fathom or comprehend) Now with brothers KK, Sata, Membe, Telesphore,Mugabe, Bashir reigning, the worst is yet to come. Chiluba belongs to heaven. Sata belongs to PF.
Yes and PF is carrying on his legacy of eliminating opposition and more abuse of public resources. After all, Sata was one of Chiluba’s chola boys carrying money in copper brief cases to Kabwe for usual dribbling. Chikwanda is not saying this in good faith, he is simply not seeing beyond the family tree. All Chiluba’s people including Mwamba have neen drafted into PF because they identify more with corruption than dvelopment.
Namibian prostitute oh sorry i meant Nubian princessless daughter to a ward chairman pliz grow up *****
The man did his part for this nation and only unreasonable fools can be insulting Chiluba. Boys and girls of this nation don’t understand what we went through as it is un manageable.
Princess of darkness or what ever they call you pls keep your devil to your self.
strong foundation for thieves and the corrupt! Zambia has been destroyed never the same!
FTJ did his part but unfortunately he lacked wisdom. No need to insult a dead man. It is like flogging a dead horse. Besides his cases are are now with the Almighty. Only he knows. FTJ thru his tribulations( after he left office) had a lot of time to lament and repent. I would not be suprised to find him in heaven.
FTJ was a general…and he was a smart general!
Chiluba was a Thief. Sata is a Thief. RB was a useless leader, but probably not corrupt.
Mwanawasa was a good leader. The best we have had since Kaunda!!! Sata will fail. muka shininkishya nombaline!!!
you are such a batch of hypocrites. oh lord have mercy. what else would you expect from a load of nothings. you sit on your high horse and critize a man who brought you nothing but peace, stablization, hope, freedom of speech, house, cars, food, ease of travel and you jugde him based on hearsay from a man who clearly hated him. did you know the other mans evils. you should never be to quick to judge least you be judged. try educating yourself before you atter rubbish, isnt this the same cause that he was fighting for you, prositute, princess whatever you are. in general have respect for your elders.
good riddance for that thief
Chiluba was one of our worst zambian plunderers
By the way where are our $46 million ?
but the student Rupiah surpassed the master Frederic…

“The Chiluba years of plunder is just a joke when you compare with Banda’s three-year plunder. The period of three years and the period of 10 years, the difference is just massive and big,” Sakeni said. “Mr Banda presided over a massive plunder of resources; it was actually a free for all – you know some of the deals they were entering into like the sale of Zamtel, the award of tenders; everything is stinking about our former colleagues.”
He said some former leaders had no moral right to even complain about harassment.
simply put Rosco you have your facts wrong. their is this popular belief that RB pundered so us some semblance of facts. during RB’s term we saw the zambia showed massive growth and organisation than any other time in our history. that grow continues to be felt today. the economy was creating jobs, food production was going up, we started creating a reserve and selling government international bond and private sector started seeing real benefit. now this are facts. FJT on the other hand is a confirmed plunderer and convicted on many counts. but yes he did lay a stond foundation for economic growth.
chiluba cant be considered as a model, he is rather a vampire who sucked the zambian blood with the foreign mining companies, his cronies
Chiluba as a model…
But what was the cutting edge of the only PF action ?? fight against corruption !
It’s a joke, isnt it??
It is a shame to read some of the blogs without sense, don’t just waste time on the net if you have nothing to say. Think and plan before you blog, otherwise you end up sounding a fool or insane.
FOR CHILUBA,M.H.S.R.I.P…..SATA RULE,LEADERSHIP COME FROM GOD
Zambians are truly vile creeps of the worst ordera, and ordour! Because of Chiluba’s gun-running for diamonds in Angola, tens of thousands perished and we almost went to war with Angola. Sata apologised for that. In the Great Lakes, he was mediator but suppoted Katebe Katoto rebels & Kagame ditched the talks. Here at hoe, he looted state coffers and ruined marriages. He lived such a destructive life and for all I care, he can fry in hell.
No wonder Chikwanda’s forehead hairs are withering, the head is no longer a fertile ground for memory or better still good ideas. For how else could someone who was the midget’s chief of staff claim the stinking thief was a “gallant son of Africa? Tens of thousand perished in Angola because of Chiluba’s criminal policy of gun-running for diamonds which both Chikwanda & Sata were privy to. He was the appointed mediator for the Great Lake conflict & yet he bankrolled the Katebe Katoto faction much to the annoyance of Uganda & Rwanda. Here at home, he looted state coffers & tried to gerrymander the constitution to curve out an illegal third term. The destroyed marriages etc. For all I care, he can fry, fry and fry in hell, stinking SOB!
FTJ Chiluba was a blessing to Zambia. He did many good things for Zambia. Only the blind cannot see. Thank you Father in Heaven for giving us His Excellence the Presdient Dr Fredrick Chiluba.
Rest in peace gallant FTJ in the bossom of the Lord.
Till we meet again.
well said talk sense, ice road trucker, pipo like you are what this country needs. God bless you in all that you do and desire.
#21 – “Rest in the bossom of the lord”, ha! This is the worst blasphemous statement I have ever herd. Maybe we should ask The Arc Bishop Mutale to issue a fatwa against the Ice Road Trucker. Now these janjaweeds want to export AIDS to heaven by wishing intercourse between the lord and such a diseased cantacrous soul!
REMEMBER FOOLISH AMNESICS !
Former Zambia president Frederick Chiluba whose jail sentence was expected Friday after an unprecedented criminal trial, that should send a shiver down the spines of once untouchable autocrats in Africa, has been graced for a weekend. The Zambian court dealing with the case has decided to adjourn the ruling until Monday.
A guilty verdict, according to reports is expected in the case against Chiluba. The former president is accused of “plundering the national economy” during his decade-long rule in the southern African state.
He has already lost a civil court case that found he laundered around US$ 50 million from his impoverished people to help fund lavish spending on designer clothes and shoes.

If, as expected, he is found guilty today on a criminal charge of stealing $500,000, Chiluba could face at least five years in jail.
Chiluba, president between 1991 and 2001, was effectively the author of his own downfall when he anointed his successor, the Late Levy Mwanawasa. Levy Mwanawasa who kicked the bucket last year, was instrumental in the abbrogation of an immunity law that protected Chiluba from prosecution in 2003.
According to media reports, Chiluba at one point spent more than $500,000 in a single shop, Boutique Basile, in Geneva. The shop owner Antonio Basile, told the court that payment for the clothes sometimes arrived in suitcases full of cash.
Among court exhibits were Chiluba’s top of the range 650 pairs of expensive shoes.

His wife, Regina, was convicted on corruption charges in March and sentenced to three and a half years in prison. His own trial has dragged on for six years due to procedural delays and his ill health.
In 2007, the U.K. High Court gave a guilty verdict in a corruption case against Chiluba. It was proved that the ex president had transfered over ten million dollars into his personal accounts in British banks. The ruling which is outside the boundaries of the Zambian courts could become legally binding after Zambian court deliberations.
terminal patient you are really the anti christ . wow you are such a jealous and troubled soul. bitterness is the mother of all………..go pick your nose you might find your self there. wow how sad are you.? you are truly a patient and a terminal one for sure. you should never be judge and jury least you be judged. but in your case you are simply rotten to the core. may God have mercy on you. what comes out of your mouth is how soiled your heart is. i pity you.
I forgive you, you don’t know what you talk about
Blessed are the poor in spirit…… for theirs is the kingdom of heaven ! ;)
In fact your behaviour is symptomatic of the Zambian frame of mind
The leaders such as Chiluba or rupiah robbed, plundered, embezzled public capital, got bribes and sold Zambian assets for a song but there are many simple minds who don’t understand and congratulate them
Instead of paying tribute to your crook, you should pray for poor people who starved or died because of lack of medicine while your satanist idol lined his pockets, his stomach and lived in lust
If God loves us, why did he let Chiluba and his gang of thieves steal $46 million from an already impoverished country? Just today I was reading the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunals judgment on the main lawyer, Iqbal Meer, who was used as the conduit and ‘bank’ for most of that money. His excuses were ludicrous. Those people defended/are defending the indefensible. Jesus was crucified between two thieves, was Chiluba one of them?
