Kaoma farmers receive FSP Inputs

The distribution of farming inputs under the Food Security Pack (FSP) rain-fed programme is progressing well in Kaoma District, with 1,441 small-scale farmers set to benefit.

Kaoma District Commissioner Kashina Sheba urged farmers to use the inputs responsibly, emphasizing that the programme aims to empower vulnerable but viable farmers to improve household food security and income.

Ms. Sheba stated that the inputs include Urea and D compound fertilizers, seeds of sorghum, groundnuts, beans, and both white and orange maize.

“The government is committed to improving the welfare of citizens and has delivered these inputs early to ensure timely planting,” Ms. Sheba said.

Chipango Malesu, a farmer from Longe Ward thanked the government, noting that the inputs will help eradicate malnutrition among children and pregnant mothers due to their vitamin A and protein content.

Another farmer, Alibandila Muimui from Kashamu Ward, said the inputs will ensure that families in Kaoma District have enough food.

“We are very grateful. These inputs will help our children grow healthy and intelligent,” she said.

And Kashamu Ward Councilor Mubutu Mwangelwa added that the programme will enable farmers across the district to increase their yields.

The FSP programme is being implemented in multiple wards, including Longe, Kashamu, Namaloba, Kalumwange, Linyati, Mulamatila, Naliele, Mangango, Mushwala, Shikombwe, Kapili, and Chitwa.
