LCC warns party cadres over noise pollution

Lusaka City Council (LCC) has warned cadres from political parties to desist from using sirens in their campaigns during the night.

LCC Public Relations Officer (PRO)Henry Kapata said residents in Libala , Kabwata and Chilenji have complained of noise from the the sirens that cadres use in their campaigns saying this amounted to noise pollution.

In a telephone interview with ZANIS, Mr Kapata said under the Local Government Act cap 281, noise pollution was an offence and attracted a penalty of K450,000 or six months imprisonment.

The LCC PRO Mr Kapata urged the cadres to stop disturbing the people in the night and ensure that their campaigns were conducted peacefully.

He noted that only State Police were allowed to use the sirens in public.

In another development, the Lusaka City Council (LCC) has warned of stern action against market cooperatives that have been allowing school children to play computer games in markets.

Mr Kapata said it was illegal for market cooperatives to allow school children to spend time in markets playing computer games during school hours.

Mr. Kapata noted that the practice retarded the pupils’ performance at school.

He disclosed that the LCC has since written to market cooperatives to curtail the practice.

  1. Lyoonse ndinwe (everytime it is you) PF cadres, what is wrong with this breed of Zambians?

  2. Reading about mammoth rallies, are those legendary early Elephants not like the DoDo, extinct.

  3. Please start by controlling those mega noises coming from the bars in Kabwata and other townships which churn out noise 24/7.
Set your priorities right bwana LCC official.
Meantime, the muslims make ululating noise on mega phones at 5 am.
    Atase!!

  4. Please zambians we can’t afford to lose this grand opportunity of electing a man for the people. all his promises are to help the people and not IMF and Worldbank like MMD. VOTE WISELY VOTE SATA

  5. #8 spot on,these guys are jokers….am not surprised people are overly excited,twalolela pafula….

  6. One prophet TB Joshua prohecised that there is a country that is having elections and the person who seems to be leading is going to lose and a holy man will win and then there will be blood shed. I do not know how many countries are having elections this year, Since Zambia is one of them i urge those that know their God to pray for our nation.

  7. this is the only time cadres can use that chance anyother time the will be arrested nkanshi mwaba shani ulibe nkani uwe lcc tamufola nanomba ngama muslims balapanga icongo arly in the morning but you call it freedom of worship balikubosha

  8. Listening to a conversation among regular people, issues of tribe, health status of candidates, fertilizer, lubuli (bullying) unfortunately occupy the highest priority. For example, don’t buy salary increase, tarring of the roads, inflation, impending global recession etc. What their key issues produce is a forecast of better PF in the north, better MMD performance in rural areas in general, better UPND performance in central province and poorer PF performance in Lusaka as indicated by the Kanyama by election even when at the time most PF still had ULP breakaways (former followers of Mtonga, Saki). PF identified the unpredictability in Luapula as the MMD has in central & CB rural. Ultimate

  9. im told that some prohet from Nigeria dream that in one country in Africa if people vote for a wrong person there will be a civil wall….

in explaining the prophecy its like if people vote for either SATA or RB there will be a a civil war.

come on peace loving Zambian… vote HH and keep the PEACE

on the HAND vote HH for PRESIDO

  10. A reasonable person would visit a medical doctor when s/he falls sick, seek audience with a lawyer on legal matters. Now how on earth can a seasonable man/woman talk about Chi SATA, HH on a fora like this one, there is no relationship between noise pollution and politics.Let us be realistic and reasonable. Its like in church while a preacher man is talking about spiritual matters then you bring in issues of buying a new car.Typical madness.

  11. THOSE OF US WHO CAN PRAY AND FAST, THIS IS THE TIME,CHRISTIANS ,WE GAT TO BE ON OUR KNEES.TALK ON YOUR KNEES TO GOD.WE REFUSE ANY BLOODSHED,WE CANNOT ALLOW THE ENEMY TO TAKE ANY OF OUR BROS N SISTAZ LIFES DURING THIS COMING ELECTIONS.PRAY FOR PEACEFUL AND GODLY INTERVENTION.IT’S NOT TIME TO GOSSIP, FOR THOSE THAT CAN PRAY AND FAST LET THE LORD SPEAK TO YOU TO FAST THIS WEEK FOR ZAMBIA OUR MOTHERLAND.AMEN

  12. Kapata, control yousr singing in Tonga after drinking at Musana.com in Kabwata. RB Rejected Ballots

  13. Kapata this is a one off event, worry about the noise from those bars which haunt us 24/7.

  14. Sata speaks to the same people from one rally to another. The people that attended his rally in Mazabuka most of them came from Lusaka,i saw buses and trucks full people from Lusaka to Mazabuka shouting and singing pabwato. He has no support there, infact will be shocked at the votes he will get there lets wait and see its just less than 2 days remaining.

  15. I feel pity for Sata…..He has provided free entertainment to bored zedits to listen to his misfiring talk …you cant do anything in 90 days …you can only bewitch people

Party manifesto in Satas head…the man cant make the grade

    Cage the cobra

    Viva RBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRBBBBBBBBBBB

  16. Atase! What icongo? This is a free country. Lekeni ne mwine njimbile Sata, kateka wandi, wakunteka. Kanabesa, wacitemwiko, kanyimbeeee amalaila ya ku mwesu ku mpika mu Lusaka! Leave people alone, LCC!

  17. RB talks about experience (in corruption and bribery) and continuity (unemployment and poverty). Can someone explain to me please

  18. Instead of concentrating on dealing with pollution due to garbage, human waste, manufacturing industries, LCC has decided to tackle “noise pollution” brought about by party cadres. Is this some kind of a joke?
