President Hakainde Hichilema Calls for Orderly Mineral Exploration in Monze

President Hakainde Hichilema says mineral resources in Monze District should be explored in an orderly, legal and safe manner.

The President said chiefdoms such as Mwanza and Chona are endowed with mineral resources but stressed the need to formalise mining activities in line with ongoing efforts in other parts of the country.

He made the remarks during a meeting with House of Chiefs Chairperson Chief Choongo and Chief Mwanza in Monze District.

President Hichilema said Government remains committed to fostering development and improving the livelihoods of citizens.

The Head of State was in Monze to attend the burial of his uncle, Josiah Hamalambo.

He added that once re-elected in August, he would continue to advance development efforts, noting that Zambia is receiving positive recognition from regional bodies.

Meanwhile, Chief Choongo thanked the President for the ongoing delimitation exercise, stating that it will increase the number of constituencies and subsequently raise Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocations to communities.

However, the traditional leader appealed to Government to ensure timely disbursement of CDF funds.

Earlier, President Hichilema met family members and encouraged them to live in peace and harmony.

  1. Chief Choongo should not have been quoted in this story. He was saying nothing new. Why thank the president for delimitation?

  2. Being in the middle of an ore-rich continent we should have all the world’s most wanted minerals What minerals are in Monze?
