Chief Government spokesperson Kennedy Sakeni has implored opposition political leaders that have vowed to frustrate the approval of the 2013 National Budget in parliament to be patriots.

Mr. Sakeni who is also Information and Broadcasting Services Minister said it is unthinkable for any political party worth its salt to advocate for politics that that do not add value to improving the wellbeing of ordinary Zambians.

He was reacting to recent pronouncements from the opposition MMD leaders that have vowed not to support the 2013 budget citing the appointment of some of its Members of Parliament as deputy ministers in the PF government.

Despite President Michael Sata’s clarification of the appointments as part of his desire to run an all inclusive government, this move has not gone well with the MMD party leadership who feel it is meant to weaken the party.

ZANIS reports that Mr. Sakeni pointed out that the PF government recognises the opposition parties as stakeholders in national development but should behaviour in a manner that will inspire Zambians.

He explained that government will remain steadfast in ensuring that its development plans are executed as outlined in its party manifesto to the satisfaction of Zambians.

Mr. Sakeni reiterated that the government is on course in implementing polices that will translate into tangible reduction of poverty, unemployment, underdevelopment and economic challenges that ordinary Zambians are facing.

He urged Zambians to unite and work hard in assisting government in developing the country for the betterment of all Zambians regardless of tribal groupings.

  1. The MMD is led by a pastor who preached that Zambia shall be saved even though Jesus saved Zambia over 2000 years ago and some people just need to repent and be baptized. Recently he said reality is useless and that perception is what matters. In short he was telling MMD members at the retreat that they can continue to be wolves in sheep skins as long as people will perceive tham as sheep it is OK. He threatened to expel MPs who are deputy ministers, we are still waiting. Now he is threatening not to support the budget in order to fight for MPs to be fired from govt. positions. Where is Zambia in his heart? How long can we take this? We need true leaders in oposition, please please please please please….I cry mother Zambia. I like Nervers as a person, only do not like him as a leader.

  2. This Sakeni is a political buffoon and the whole PF strategy has so far proved to be kitsch. How do you expect somebody to sign on the dotted line if its all a fraud?Thats what the budget is all about just like sly used car dealers in a hurry that you sign up on a lemon car.Its not about the budget and Sakeni knows it.Its all about sneaky PF.

  3. Independence should bind us together…the culture of opposition parties fighting a sitting govt should come to an end (rather show solutions to the problems…if truly interested in the future of our country)…PF should show leadership and engage opposition parties, blessed is a peace maker, people will always trust in her…somebody will have to make the first move, its a huge plass…

  4. Maybe this Sakeni is bitter and filled with super envy, this time he wishes he was in the opposition. They would have used this sort of language if they did not need the MMD MPs.

  5. ba zed, pliz stop fight petty fights, your battle is against poverty and social injustice in country!ba boma, pliz offer us good deals and give us real economic results, not just on paper, but real! Ba opposition, dont just make noise in the paper busy condemning the budget, give us your alternative budget so we can see your concern clerly and give you the necessary support! think am getting tired of our  immature politics, tinkaleko issue based, but lets not hate one another! ONE LOVE,ONE ZAMBIA ,ONE NATION!!peace:)>-

  6. The MMD had 20 years during which no one blocked their budget, despite poaching over 20 PF MPs and so the argument Nevers is using is not credible! I would be shocked if MMd MPs worth their sort like Mutati, Namugala and other level headed legislators can buy his scheme!! This is not Malawi to plunged into a constitutional crisis, like what happened to them!!!

  7. In a democracy, free speech and freedom of association including holding public rallies are just as important as debating and approving a national budget….Looks like these PF cohorts don’t realise this simple fact.

    • SO THIS IS ALL ABOUT HOLDING RALLIES? SO WHAT IF YOU ARE ALLOWD TO HOLD RALLYS? GO TO MFUMBWE AND SEE IF GOVT WILL STOP YOU TO HOLD THEM. YOU ARE JAST LOSERS

What do you Mr. Sakeni makes sense for a change? Just look at the intended meaning of your above phrase or rephrase it so as to bring out the your underlying inabilities in constructing it. You are the biggest joke of the day and, please a PhD student always expands meanings of phrases so as to close all shortfalls/shortcomings which might escape calculated definitions. Everytime you post your trash, you allow others to redefine whatever you think makes sense yet on the other hand, it shows us that you are not a genuine PhD material. Think about your dellusions, you might need us to save you from total self- destruction.

    • The lady is expresiing herself what has she done to reciev such scorn. why dont you want others to post positive thoughts here ? if you dont want to see pipo praise govt then stop blogging. still in denial? you have the whole 4 years to go. i hope you wont get tired and still lose. ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

  9. ANY ONE SEEN THE AMERICAN CAR PASTOR MUMBA DRIVES? WINDOWS ARE SO TINTED HE CAN’T SEE THE POOR. THIS IS A MAN  OF GOD WHO SHOULD ADVOCATE FOR THE POOR AND NOW HE WANTS TO FRUSTRATE PROGRAMS AIMED AT HELPING  THE POOR JUST FOR PERSONAL INTEREST. YOU’LL DO WELL IN THE PULPIT MY BROTHER, IT’S NOT TOO LATE, POLITICS IS DEFINITELY NOT FOR YOU.

  10. Ask your fowl mouthed SATA how attempted to frsustrate Mwanawasa,RB government.Indeed this PF Bunch of failures must be the last ones to condemn the opposition.

KEEP IT UP- THE OPPOSITION..! These failures must learn a BITTER lesson.

    • you calling the president foul mouth you opposition supporter? tone down my friend, you will always be in the opposition. respect your leaders and grow old. you will never be president neither your father or your children.*****

  11. If you want parliament to rubber stamp your policies then make sure you have an overall majority. in parliament. It really is that simple and it is called ‘DEMOCRACY’. But I guess if you belong to a party that has never practised internal democracy since its inception and is presided by and large by morons then that simple principle is very difficult to comprehend.

    • wth or without your conset my friend we will rule for another 4years. this budget is going thru whether you like it or not.tiye uko iwe>/?

  12. am shocked PF please father bwalya does not add any value to zesco board why do we do things like this in zambia cadre cadre cadre cadre please PF

  13. A fraudulent budget aimed at keeping a fraud of a party in government led by a fraud is what this mini fraud minister is saying.

This government is not inclusive but divisive. if it were the former then consultations would take place between the party leaders whenever an appointment is to be made however that has not happened.

What do you mean Mr. Sakeni makes sense for a change? What are your underlying inabilities in noticing that Mr.Sakeni is simply saying that those opposition parties which do not support the budget are unnpatriotic. This is a how you paraphrase of Mr. Sakani’s statement. The above statement might makes sense for the PF party and others, on one hand. On the other hand, especially the opposition who are in disagreement with the PF party, it will be viewed as nonsense. This is how a PhD student argues in any given matter, you need to approach any given subject in a holistic manner and it follows that the one side which has overwhelming reasons emerges as a winner. Mushota you have to go back to your supervisor and demend your money back.

  15. well who ever is supporting chaps like Nevers and HH has a problem because first thing you have to know is that they dont mean well for zambia, they dont care if you and your families have food to eat or clean water to drink, they dont care if you have access to medication or not. Its amazing how you will go on and support such politicians…PF will blame it on the opposition come 2016…if the opposition had brains they would give PF enough rope to hang themselves thus, back their budget but it seems they are afraid that PF might perform better. Silly opposition

  16. @Mushota#4
How can you say that Mr. Sakeni makes sense before you exaust all pertinent arguments which might support or not support your premises. Put it differently, you are indirectly persuading others who might ready your post to assume that Mr. Sakeni makes sense for a change in the interests of his clonies such as yourself and the those you want to convert into new clonies of Mr. Sakeni. You are not focusing on the other side of the statement of Mr. Sakeni, and yet you always tell us that you are pursuing a second highest qualification on the globe.

By the way, how are you this morning? What time is it there in the border town? Well, it is still early in the morining here in South Africa. Cape Town is a beautiful tourist destination, in fact, it is one of the best on earth. It is comparable to Nice in France, Los Angels, New York, or Paris. You Mushota, your new homeland is ever greyish with miserable people who inhabit those old buildings. This afternoon I will flying be to Durban another warm playground for the rich and famous not for wanna-bies like yourself.

  18. @BOOM & WHATEVER#19
Last sentence I meant to say ‘this afternoon I will be flying to Durban
@BOOM & WHATEVER #18, second last sentence, please disregard “the” immediately after “and”. it does not apply.
@BOOM &WHATEVER#17, second last sentence, please, it must be “the above statement might make sense for the PF party” and shortly after paraphrase please disregard “of”.

  19. From the Post:
Michael Kaingu, the MMD vice-president in charge of political affairs, says they will make life very difficult for the Patriotic Front government.
Kaingu further asks: “It’s like a man who has married your ex-wife, would you want him to succeed?”

It’s the warped thinking like the one above from a stakeholder in Zambia’s success that guarantees our country never gets anywhere. For goodness sake why would you still be interested in your ex-wife’s marriage when the two of you have moved on? So whether PF govt is doing well they still must never be supported! This is truly insane! Amazingly Zambian voters prefer this kind of lunatics for their leaders.

    • Spot on! You don’t need to go far to see why development and progress is always being blocked, just read some of the posts on this blog and you will understand why.

  20. Sakeni is bitter and filled with envy for HH and Mumba’s powers to block the useless PF budget. Sooner than later, the government will grind to a hault when funds dry out.

  21. I’m tired of the antics of these sly-eyed bribe takers.

They are just opposing because they’re not in power.

It makes you wonder about the appropriateness of multi-party democracy.

The same thing in Zimbabwe. Opposition parties are just an opportunity or foreign interests to obstruct the expressed will and interests of the local people.

  22. He needs to be nice to them if he has to get results. I hope he does not think he can cow them into submission……by insulting them.
