Am close to PSL move says Kalaba

Rainford Kalaba has confirmed that he was close to a move to the South African PSL.

Kalaba told South African radio show 083 sports With Robert Marawa on Metero FM that he was heading to the PSL “very soon.”

“I am looking forward to coming player here,” Kalaba said.

“You will just see in a jersey on the pitch.

“I hear Pirates are interested in me and I am looking forward to meeting the officials.”

Meanwhile, Media reports in South Africa have indicated that Kalaba has actually signed a three deal with the PSL champions that will see him move from DR Congo club TP Mazembe to Pirates until 2015.

    • This is the problem with Zambians, anything African is not good. Is it abt money or abt football? South is close to many European nations in terms of life than Congo DR or Zambia for that matter. The money also is not that bad as pipo are made to think. The PSL is perhaps one of the lucrative leagues in Africa. Let him go that could be the begining point for better things for him. Mbesuma, Katonga, Isaac, Chamanga, etc all found greener pastures from SA.

    • No no no Dot Com, the boy will just get finished like Mayukwa in Europe. He is better off down South…at least there, they will feature him on a regular basis.

    • He is not material for playing in Europe otherwise he would have been in Europe by now. May be China? South Africa is fine for him at least he will not warm the bench like Mayuka at Southampton.

  1. Zambian players with little ambition! Go play in europe please. SA league will reduce you to a “nobody”!

  2. Wrong move. Europe should be the ultimate destination. No wonder our Zambian team is getting nowhere.

  3. I thought a move from Congo DR to SA is much better and perhaps closer to Europe. It is not abt rushing to Europe its abt finding a place where u ll be made to play your game. The UK has destroyed our striker mayuka. Since he left young boys his form has not been to his best. The next thing we ll hear is loaning him and before long back to Africa. It’s about patience guys.

  4. Yes South Africa is more Europeanish, Kalaba started looking dark for being in Congo (Zaire sure!). Mwaiche go and eat some pizzas na basungu.

  5. You guys who are saying that he should go to europe , dont think straight. Hpw zcan he go without being approached. Its pirates that want him and not arsenal.h

    • It doesn’t matter, as long as umwaiche Mayuka ali ku England, UK, Great Britain.. playing regularly or on bench who cares. The boy sleeps in a warm-nice bed, he sends money to his siblings, he buys genuine Jeans, not ama gonga yamu Lubumbashi.
After all each team needs players to train with, look at Chivuta, Kasonde, Chamanga, William, they don’t complain because they know they are best trainers of others… more-over they get equal SALARY and BONUSES.
Kalaba go somewhere more civilized, kusema ni kutaka.

  6. You can’t force yourself to European leagues unless you are spotted from the grassroot. Once you are signed.. more time will be spent on warming the bench.. What happened to Nsuzu < No report of signing for Readings.

  7. The weather is terrible in Europe. Mbesuma could not cope.Go to south.Even Balloteli left. The Racism on the pitch is horrible.

  8. Ati move ko Mvela league, atase!Mayuka should have asked to be loaned back to his former club to have more game time otherwise ubukula bwalaingila. We have ‘all must win games’ coming up againt Lesotho,Sudan and the in form CAF finalists Ghana. We need our players to be in tip top condition.

  9. This is the worst sports article i have ever seen. Its not readable at all and i dont understand what Kalaba was saying!Worst still they quote him!!What has happened to my Zambia? Its disgusting LT.GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

    • I don’t think the journalist would have written that nonsense if he was to interview Mr Kalaba in Bemba language and had to report in English. I don’t understand what s/he wants to prove. When Mr Kalaba is on the pitch, he controls difficulty passes and makes them easier for others. Now the man has come to the media, instead of the journalist making the difficulty English understandable for us by simply reporting the sense of the statement, he is giving it back raw. The journalist has missed the point. The report should be about the transfer not grammatical errors. Useless.

  10. Kalaba used to play in Portugal for those of you who keep mentioning Europe…it best you ask him why he came back…

  11. Kalaba is getting old now, let him join Benni Mc…… at Pirates. Besides Mbesuma shi Morie is there to welcome him. What is Europe Kanshi?? Do u pipo know that the Brazilian league is more competitive than the EPL? Even the Zambian league is mo competitive than the PSL but let him go ku south. Sunzu should be next…

    • Is the EPL not the best in the world? What do you mean by competetive? Players want money- period! Kalaba must go where he will play regularly and be paid good money.

  12. The best paid Player in South Africa is a Mozambiquen. Pelembe. He was supposed to go to Portugal, but Sundowns came with big money so he opted for Sundowns over Portugal. Kalaba can be the best paid player here also, depends on how he negotiates.
We should keep in mind that TAX rates are very high in Europe.

    • Players are not as stupid as you think those deals are negotiated after the tax has been deducted; if a player gets £100K per week its just that the club pays tax!!lol

  13. Bloggers, is it your business where he plays. Everyone, you included go for job-satisfaction and good money. So let Kalaba choose where to go. You are not his Manager (s). He would rather be near home bane.

  14. All of you guys who have commented before me are dull. Currently TP is a better team than Pirates. South Africa is a better place than Congo. Kalaba has placed in Europe before. His best performances were at TP and Zambia. After his injury he is nolonger good as it was reflected at Afcon. He has to start afresh. England is for professionals ( intelligence and Skill). Mayuka can’t play simply because he is not at that level. The chances Mayuka has been give to play have proved that. From simple facts like this, you dull chaps should be able to deduce that Kalaba should go to a place where he can make a living before his career ends. So going to South Africa is about making a living not developing his football career.
