A 13 year old grade 8 pupil at Holycross High School in Mongu District is appealing to the well wishers for help to get her healed from a strange suspected case of epilepsy.

In an interview, Blessings Lubasi Phiri, a Namboard resident who lives with her grandmother disclosed that her problem of collapsing ten times per day started in February this year.

“Iam appealing to well wishers who can help me get healed through any means either taking me to bigger hospitals or prayers so that I can also continue with school,” narrated Blessings.

She added that the dream of completing her education hangs in a balance due to the disease affecting her life but hopes to go back to her usual life if well wishers support her through prayers and medical attention.

“The only thing I want is to be healed from this disease. Iam asking anyone who can take me to bigger hospital or for prayers so that I can be okay,” she said.

She further expressed sadness at the way her schools mates make fun of her at school describing the situation as depressing adding that her persistent disease since February was making her miss school and socializing with her friends.

Her Grandmother Edina Masuka Kasoka said the girl’s condition had saddened the family who has on several occasions taken her to the hospital but nothing seems to be helping her regain her usual life.

Ms.Kasoka is also appealing to all well wishers who can help her granddaughter heal in any way either medically or spiritually within Zambia or taking her to the renowned Nigerian prophet TB Joshua.

“At my age, I have seen people suffering from epilepsy but not with Blessing, her problem is strange, she is a very intelligent girl at school and this is really disturbing me personally,” explained the visibly emotional grandmother.

Meanwhile, Epilepsy Association Zambia President Anthony Zimba said his association would do everything possible to support Blessing.Mr.Zimba who is an epileptic expert at Levy Mwanawasa General Hospital appealed to the family to travel to Lusaka so that Blessing could receive medical attention.Mr.Zimba also urged the public to report any similar suspected epilepsy cases found in their various communities adding that, it is only experts who were supposed to ascertain the disease.

    • From what you have writen i can tell that you are a woman. Why are women easily deceived about hearing? The so called bishops where beaten at Bigoca church last time and to my suprise the bishops rushed to the hospital instead of just praying for each other to heal.If you are sik seek medical attention and dont believe these fools who talk about hearing and encourage you to stop taaking you medication. The girl should just seek medical aatention simple and not this in the name of Jesus.

    • Iwe @2.1 Kalambofalls, do not underestimate the power of God. I have seen the work of God in my life and I have no doubt that when He touches He heals. Do not distance yourself from the love of the Father…it it free of charge. May God heal the little girl. I watched the clip on TV and I was moved.

      Solola Bye!

By the way, how are you Nubian Princess!

  1. Blessings I think you might have what is called ‘absence seizures’.
Many children eventually outgrow this ‘disease’ or form of epilepsy.Unfortunately most anti-epileptic drugs aren’t very effective in treating this.but you may ask your doctor about ethosuximide and valproic acid. You need to eat healthy foods, get enough sleep at night,relax..don’t get very stressed as this will make things worse.Remember God loves you and many people are praying for you. There are some very smart doctors at U.T.H who will be able to advise and help you.All the best!

    • Doc is there any chance you can prescribe and send her the medication you just mentioned. Waiting for her to have doctors prescribe the medication might be a waste of time. Thanks a lot for your insightfulness into the disease.

  2. Madam, no need to go to TB Joshua, just start with treatment in Lusaka, then see if a referral elsewhere is recommended. May The Lord heal your granddaughter.

  3. It breaks my heart to hear children mocking their friends due to lack of knowledge about the condition. Teachers and parents must spread the word about epilepsy because they may just be the ones to assist when Blessing experiences an attack in their presence. May complete recovery be one of your blessings, Blessing.

  4. How do we help financially so that this family can travel to Lusaka for treatment? I hope the government is aware of this and will ensure the poor girl is helped, especially the fact she has come out in the open and would like to continue with her education.

  5. @Victoriafalls, don’t be suprised to wake up without anything one day.Don’t just talk about God like that,be thankful you work in front of a computer…… Of course we shud seek medication, you are right on this one but it must be in the name of jesus christ becoz he gave the pipo the brains to come up with those formulae.

    • I appreciate that you are a christian. The problem with most chriastians sorry to say including you is you seek the kingdom of wealth and not the kingdom of GOD.How does my work amount to a blessing by God? are you telling me that those who dont have jobs have not been blessed by GOD? The bible that you appreciate most than anyother thin says you shall not mention my name in vain and the Jesus himself said let those who are sick see the doctor.Lets use the brains that God blessed us with and not being superstitious for nothing ba meb

  6. bigger hospital or prayers? the most economical and easily accessible is the latter!! I even wonder why people complain about poor health facilities in the country when we have cheap route out of disease burden!! Lets demolish all hospitals and replace them with churches!! Dan pule, joe imakando and nevers mumba to spearhead the project.

  7. Let us not take this seriuos illness as a joke.Any one can get this epilepsy or any other illness at any time,we dont own life and we do not know wat can happen in a minutes or an hour from now.
Fine, we need to put God first as he hold this childs life and is in control….bt the issues of taking the child somewhere is not holding any water.Let her go to Lusaka and seek medical attention.

  8. Victoriafalls, please know that God is above all things and has authority ove all creation including yourself.Let no man or spirit deceive you,an ordinary disease will be cured through medicine but if it is from the pit of hell, then spiritual intervention from a real man of God is required.I pray that God will have mercy on you and that he shall hear the cries of the girl because no human being deserves such.

  9. This child may have a brain tumor and needs to undergo an MRI very urgently. Or it could be a late case of cerebral palsy, which still needs to be properly medicated.

  10. O father God, by all the power for which you are known to be the Great Physician arise and heal Blessings in the mighty name of Jesus.

No need to travel to Nigeria. God is Omnipresent and does not reside in Nigeria.

Blessings, i declare that God’s blessings and favour shall follow you all you life and you will accomplish all that God has for your destiny.

  11. I pray to Jehova God In the name of Jesus Christ who died and rose from the dead, and i decree Blessings, you are healed. Amen

  12. Going by the picture only, i would say the girl is most likely suffering from a condition known as ‘Narcolepsy’. This condition can be controlled and managed if the girl is taken to a proper hospital with the right equipment to test for this condition. I wish her all the best.

    • I was thinking that too…either way, more resources for narcolepsy and epilepsy are necessary in Zambia. There will always be difficult cases, but access to medicine and treatment will other at least some improvement in most people. I’ve known two people who have died from complications from epilepsy in Zambia, and it’s tragic, because had they been under consistent care, it’s likely that at least one of them would still be alive today.

  13. What the girl needs is medication. I have worked with people living with that condition. Medication reduces attacks. The best way is to take her to the hospital. Not sure if our UTH has the kind of medication.

  14. Young girl u may nt access this network we ar using but i pray for u in Jesus’s name amen. receive the healin prayer.

  15. Blessings needs medical treatment. Prayers are good, too, but epilepsy cannot be healed through prayer and faith alone. And medication has to be taken consistently, I hope the doctors explain to her grandmother the dangers of stopping and starting medication. I know a child who died when his medicines were stopped and he was taken for healing. It was very sad. Status epilepticus is very dangerous, and if medicines are stopped, it should be done slowly, over time, with a doctor’s help. On the right treatment, seizures should decrease. She may find the medicines don’t help or the sideeffects are too much, in which case, doctors can work with her to adapt her lifestyle to minimize danger from seizures. It’s too bad they don’t have trained epilepsy dogs in Zed.

  16. It is not epilepsy, it is narcolepsy the poor girl is suffering from.
There is no cure but certain medications and behaviour modification can help.
The Mongu doctors can just Google ‘Narcolepsy’ and they will find the help needed for the poor girl. In the meantime, she can be referred to Levy Mwanawasa Hospitial for an MRI of the brain. The PF government can do this without any difficulty.

  17. It’s a embarrassing that others can even joke about this serious issue. I have observed that in Zambia we do not have the spirit of helping except talking. I must suggest here that those of us who are blessed financially, should come up with an association which will be coming to the aid of people facing health complications. Sometimes I fail to believe that we have some zambians who claim to be millionaires or billionaires and yet they don’t contribute not even a ngwee towards people with complication. That money we are blessed with will never be buried with us one day. Let us be proud of ourselves of the legacy we leave behind. Let us learn to love one another as Christians.

  18. Jehovah God has never failled my young sister, may he extend his hand upon you and you will be healed in Jesus name. We will be with you in prayers.

  19. Too bad for the girl, let our Government do something for this young girl, its a terrible disease we continue praying for her as she is seeking for medication. She needs an expert neurologist . The problem will be solved God is great.

  20. I would love to help, how can I contact the family? I know this kind of epilepsy, she can get medication to control the attacks,no am not a doctor but I have a sis who used to suffer from this too,now she is fine with the right medicine. Give me the mothers contact I will tell her to see the right doctor not a chainama (they mostly DON’T give the right treatment, ati depression and they give medication for depressive people) am seriously…. Info I will help

    • Thanks for your concern and eagerness to help. You can also get in touch with me so that I can learn more about the condition of my daughter

  21. What the girl needs is medication simple as that, keep your fake TB Joshuas and pointless prayers to yourselves.
Afrikans can be very naive at times. Two free hands are better than 200 clasped together in prayer to white Jesus.

  22. YES INDEED. SO MANY FALSE PROPHETS AROUND AND MAKING QUICK MONEY OUT OF DESPERATE PEOPLE.
VICTORIA IS RIGHT THEY ARE USING GOD’S NAME-IN VAIN.
LOOK AT BIGOCA, IT’S A SHAME THAT THEY INVOLVED THEMSELVES IN A WORLDLY WAY INSTEAD OF DOING IT IN A WAY THAT BRINGS GLORY TO GOD. WHAT DOES THEIR BIBLE SAY ABOUT LEADERS?
MOST OF THESE NGO CHURCHES WERE FORMED IN CHILUBA’S TIME WHEN THEY COULD GET SOME UNDERHAND FINANCIAL GAINS FROM GOVT. THINGS ARE DIFFERENT NOW AND THEY ARE FRUSTRATED.

  23. @Victoriafalls… Remember that the people who built the Titanic said that it was so strong, not even God could sink it.. But we all know what happened to it.. Do not mock God my friend.. Be scrared to reap what you sow with your “so called intelligence”.. The things of God are foolishness to them that do not believe.. And the Bible says a fool says in his heart that there is no god.. Choose to be wise today and do not destroy the faith of a little girl who only needs help.may God grant her request in Jesus’ name.

  24. no one else is the healer but jesus christ he is.you can to any big hospital in the world but nothing but to jesus there is something.in the name of jesus christ be healed be healed be healed i speak grace of God to e upon u amen.
