An unidentified student from UNZA was last night shot by police during student demonstrations over meal allowances.
UNZA students last night took to the streets to demonstrate against delays in paying their full meal allowances.
And Eyewitnesses have confirmed to Power FM News that a male student who is in his third year was shot at by police who used live ammunition to quell the demonstrations.
The student sustained a fracture affecting both the tibia and the fibula.
The student was due to undergo surgery this morning at UTH.
The student movement has strongly condemned the Zambia Police Service for using live ammunition against unarmed students within campus grounds.
But Lusaka Police Chief Joyce Kasosa disputed the account of from the eyewitnesses and maintained that no one was shot during the UNZA operation last night.
“We don’t use live arms when controlling the situation at least in Lusaka. We have a policy not to go to such situations with live ammunition. These reports are false and our records show that there were no casualties from last night’s operation,” she said.
What?
Silence please !
I have been educated at better institutes, I have an MBA, MSc, CIMA ACCA Bsc Oxford Brookes, got 4 A levels 3 A* and have a grade 12 certificate 29 points.
From young I have had several cum laude result oriented results
I never wanted to go to UNZA, you know why see above
I am 27 and I am one of the most educated persons Zambia has ever produced, I am shocked about this UNZA fiasco
Thanks
I hate these Unza kids especially after they broke my cars side mirror four years ago.Hope the police will continue treating them in this way.The poor kids likes taking the law in to their hands coz of their conviction that they are the cream of the academia in Zambia. Why can`t they behave like civilized and educated people they claim to be ? Smh.
@chinena
you also… why did take your car to UNZA when there was a riot,,,was it shine to those girls??
at least you learnt a lession!!
@Mushota, 29 points at Grade 12 and you claim to be 27 which puts you roughly at 10 years out of school. i highly doubt that 10 years ago you would qualify to go to UNZA even Evelyn Hone with such results because when we went to UNZA 18 years ago with 11 points it was mwapusukeni….. check your facts or you’re lying
@Mushota, you can be highly educated but without wisdom (as in your case) it is all in vain. There are people who got 6 points at O’level, been more successful than you and are humble about their achievements. The fact that you continue listing your qualifications at every opportunity means that you really do not have them and merely living a dream.
@Mushota, ba most educated kaili ati, “from young.” Ni chizungu bwanji ico? I see y u got 29points at GSCE. Maybe that is even 29 for just 3 subjects, lol
Great post, Mushota. It made me smile. Now, regarding the story, I don’t think ZPS should be using live ammunition. I do want to agree with John Chinena though, in that the students are too violent and destructive. I support the protests, but not vandalism or hooliganism. @Ndobo, UNZA has a good private clinic, which is one reason (among others) that people may be going there during a riot (especially if some of the other clinics are out of medicines, an all too common occurrence). People often don’t know there’s a riot going on until they get there, as these things can happen suddenly. These students need to learn to protest without harming innocent people.
@mushota what an ass a dull one for that matter 29 points..which institute???not university accepted you who did you bribe or f.u.c.k to get a place of study ..there is no way in hell your ass can be the most educated 😀 degree in economics and managent from Czech republic..masters from spain barcelona..doing my phd research in agricultural economics in Norway and i still know alot more zambians far more educated..shut your mouth please
@mushota what an ass a dull one for that matter 29 points..which institute???not university accepted you who did you bribe or f.u.c.k to get a place of study ..there is no way in hell your ass can be the most educated 😀 8 points from hilcrest technical high school,, degree in economics and managent from Czech republic..masters from spain barcelona..doing my phd research in agricultural economics in Norway and i still know alot more zambians far more educated..shut your mouth please
Mushota, tizinkalako serious! You didn’t want to go to UNZA with 29 points? Sure you think UNZA would have admitted you?
@ Mushota truth be told you are the Dullest Zambian blogger I have ever come across, with 29 points(Cum Laude is 6 points by the way) in G12 not even a trades college would admit you then or now and you wana come flap your wings with those qualifications, would be interesting to see the institutions you went to that took your dull self in at 29 points maybe Afghanistan!! I bet you must have done school at some dodgy colleges set up to assist with visa issues NEH??? Please dont insult us with your “CLEVER” thoughts and Bloggs
That is the problem with you Zambians, why are you the whole time responding to someone (musho)who seems to be paid to post controversial statements, people of Zambia be focused, we are talking about violence against innocent humans(citoyen) here, who is gong to be next? Your mother, brother, sister, children etc.
Take things in your hands and reason *sapere aude *
Government needs to indefinitely close this pathetic institution. I have been there but that place has riflaffs who are only fit to be selling mishanga.
Government needs to appreciate education much more and do the right thing at the right time,,,Surely how can government fail to pay this boys their US$130 each project money and keep them quite????
You get a bullet for being a fool instead of a student.
You get a bullet for being a f.o.o.l instead of a student.
Zambian students are too du.mb for University. Shut the place down. Let them go to Lusaka Trades, that’s their level of thinking.
@Nubian Princess, I dont think you went to UNZA or CBU. If you did, you would appreciate what a great learning environment it was (I hope it still is). Having experienced three closures at the institution, I still feel the students of my time were very socially and politically conscience. Of course there were chongololo’s who were like candles in the wind, but by and large the monks and moma’s of the day were just great. Ask Edith Nawakwi! Judge not if you have not passed through those fires. Don’t get me wrong, I am not condoning violence but to protest is an inalienable right of any human being period.
i wonder why rioting by students especially UNZA ones become news because it is a ceremonial event now in Zambia. its like ukuleteya akabwambe nabakapokola
Not again ! Awe chabipa nokumfwa.
Mushota it’s not that you never wanted to go to UNZA. As far as I can remember , you needed much less than 29 points to make it. Sorry to spoil your day.
damn brother, you shouldnt have responded to this thing called mushota. every one was quiet and ignoring that entity until you responded forcing me to respond too. ignore it next time!!!
29 points is the worst results that you can not ever claim. Ask the Chizzy Metals we all cloud at 7 and 8 points from Pure sciences and Add maths. I doubt you Qualifications MBA and MSc. with a lot one month paper. You are not the most Educated, attend our level associate Professor. 1000/6 billion people in world and 2/13 million Zambians.
mushota cant even make it into the Unza parallel programs……. you are very dull, how do get 29 and boast of it.
Mushota. I can see why you never went to UNZA. It’s not that you didn’t want. It’s because you didn’t qualify. There is no way you could have been adimmeted to UNZA with 29 points. You were too dull to get into UNZA. By the way, I have a BA Economics from UNZA, MBA in finance and strategy, MSc in finance and PHd from Harvard. My salary is$600,000. So Mushota, checkmate.
@Gugulethu
with all those papers… you still drawing a salary from your boss??
@Ndobo . Salary is not always synonymous with boss. you can pay yourself a salary as a boss.
@kwa george
Trying to sugar coat kaa! you know what Ugululethu meant….
But Why do people respond to Mushota instead of ignoring her?
Really typical of Zambians. So gullible and naive even when they’ve been told what’s going on. Any one can see that Mushota deliberately makes you angry by writing inflammatory stuff and then swiftly disappearing. Argue with her and YOU are the f00l.
This is not an ordinary blogger – TRUST!
Am blaming the police for just shooting one instead of more of those fools who are on subsidised education programme. We are tired of UNZA this UNZA that. How many government workers go unpaid for sometime & don’t go in the streets breaking things or disturbing the peace of innocent people. You have your representatives to. Speak on your behalf & please people are tired of stoppages.
wanya
iwe chikasosa wibepa
“We don’t use live arms when controlling the situation at least in Lusaka.”
So in other parts of Zambia it’s just OK to use live ammo?
29 points! Ba Mushota It depends which year you finished to be accepted at UNZA with those points. I had 16 and those days (80s) it was enough to get a place. However, nowadays a lot of the students are getting under 10 points. Congrats for your achievements. As regards to the story we have to wait for more information.
Why not forget about Mushota. She just want attention.Next time just ignore her if she writes rubbish.
Nosense
Zemuntu,
I agree with you, closing UNZA would pumop some sense into these students so that they realise other people have passed through that institution and gone on to get further studies, but they behave like they are the first and last to pass through UNZA, how pathetic!!!
closing UNZA will create more problems… you are off loading more unemployed youths onto the streets,,, time bomb kaa.. think again
29 unza
you the most educated????
Live ammunition its a pity this government has continued taking lives.
which moderation iwe LT?
Mushota 29 points can not earn you a place at UNZA not even 40 years ago, it is only that you have money to afford to study in Scotland where you can enroll at any kantemba college with the certificate you have said. Actually you are just revealing how uneducated you are, truly educated persons never brag about their achievement the way you do, you are are just a cheap pant dropper for white men , mostly criminals – I mean a serial and well documented whore fro Luapula
If only the Zambia Police could respond to calls of theft the way they respond to UNZA students demos, I can assure the nation robbery would be zero.
I was trying to look at the photo, not until i saw it was hony students.
Live ammunition? well well well the Kaponyas are taking us for a ride! I’m sure Chikopa is paid on time for doing nothing while Zambians languish. This has to end….when and how I don’t know but when it does it aint gonna be pretty.
@Ex moma, just shut up coz you were one of thoz cheap whores who used to be hammered by dogs. Meantime ba police, just shoot the bastards. Y cant government do a repeat of what ftj did in 1997 wen he closed that stinking place for 7months. By the way, my room was africa 3 rm15
zemuntu..its a pity that tertiary education didn’t help you much.Little minds like you resort to ad feminam instead of articulating facts. Lots of girls from October have made it big and are well respected in society so get over your hogwash

Awe Chabipa but !
Dear Government,
M kindly requesting u to supply food to these inocent hungry souls b4 we start hearing more n more stragedy…
Those re subsised students destroyng property!Subsidy to waste! Now ci Mushota boastng 29 points!MBA,MSc,ACCA,,CIMA & whtevr…mwana papers dont perfom!Anyway l had 11pts thaank God fr yr help & l dont boast. My humble appeal students especialy frm strugling background refrain & stay away.Yr famlilies need u & u may utmost fall victim in case calamity erupts. In such circumstances the marginlised re higly pron to accidents.Watch!
Bufi, boza, mwabeja, mwapuma, leave the police out of this, where was the students union. That’s the team that is supposed to take management to task for any issue affecting the students, plz can the student union step down for failing their colleagues
When Mushota talks about 29 it’s not points. Its men that have shugged her Ass, yah you heard me right in her bum!!!! entered her in her buttocks with their erect rods.
That is why Mushota is confused.
don’t even point your finger at the police or the government point your finger at your stupid politician HH is the one causing all this nonsense and don’t wait to condemn this behavior by the students it is very bad behavior for the country Zambia.
well the problem only comes in when the monks use violence, however it is the duty of the government to ensure that the students needs are met, the government has continously held bye elections misusing the nations money, when those finances can be channeled to other areas.
and for the demonstrations, precidence has been set that the government can only respond to students through demonstrations, because on several occasions the students union has tried to dialogue with the relevant authorities but it has always been in vain
Prostitute moma
Those of you slating Mushota, the last time I checked entry qualifications ya pa UNZA, it was 5 credits or better. I beg to be corrected. Thats why when applying for a Job opening you will never see an advert asking for 10 points, they will say Full Grade 12 Certificate and then a Degree etc
you meant five distinctions , because i highly doubt that you would go to UNZA with 5 credits….awe boss
Its true my friend, see the following for Natural Sciences at UNZA”GENERAL ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSIONS (UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES)
SUBJECT COMBINATIONS FOR ADMITTING SCHOOLS
SCHOOL OF NATURAL SCIENCES ‘O’ LEVELS
English Language (6 or better), Mathematics (4 or better)
Biology/Agric. Sciences (6 or better), Chemistry (6 or better)
Science/Physical Sciences (6 or better)” Go to the UNZA website and you will see for yourself.
BJ you have never been to UNZA. that am 100% sure
Mushota, come to unza if you can.and ill reward you
Personally, I stopped reading Mushota’s nonsense a long time ago. Immediately, I see her fun picture, I simply move on to other sensible comments. She just irritates me.
Is this the correct way of dealing with issues you UNZA students by rioting? This behavior should not be entertained by PF govt.
Regards
lam calling upon the government please please do something about this fake student who are been used by opposition leaders like HH expel them actually some of them they are using government money (bursary) we cant allow this nonsense to continue let them go back to their respective homes there going to feel impact
Bapeni utuma allowance ama students naine bampele isha nkoko nabakongweshe
Walasa let govt for once show its mussle by expelling these tonga idiots so that they can go back to their caves and continue their bestiality activities
Mushota was 27 years old in 2011 and today she/he is still 27. How possible is this?
@ Mushota is Dullest Zambian blogger I have ever come across, with 29 points in G12 ,would be interesting to see the institutions Mushota went to that took that dull mind in at 29 points !!
Mushota hahahaha……Educated by Nick using his…..
Mushota seems to be a hoax. He/she likes to post controversial comments and then sit back and enjoy people debating. This fuels him/her to continue with this silly behavior.
She is a fake blogger ! It is actually a male shu-shu-shu !!!!! Get a life man !!!
do not be lied to last nigt we had carders with pangas on campus. It brings great concern to see the government of the day organise thugs to come and ambush students at the highest institution of learning over what rightly belongs to them. PF thugs and police yesterday attacked Unza students leaving the Ridgeway President assaulted another student was left with his ear almost falling off is this the government we voted for? Are we in a dictatorship? We have over 6 pending bye elections underway which will definitely be conducted using our money with each costing over 7 billion kwacha? Are we the last priority? No we are not and as long as we fight for a good cause God will reward us. We are tired of being intimidated abused and being stepped on we are fighting until we are paid a lunar…
Mushota, tawakwate nsoni mwaiche. I did my Cambridge exams in 1980 from Hillcrest Secondary Technical School in Livingstone. Have a Phd, Msc, Bachelors and 7 other PG diplomas from attending courses around the world. Costa Rica, Sweden, Vancouver, Have also taught in Georgia, Chile and others. Last time you posted a salary, which you are getting. And if thats true then please come back to Zambia, I am getting more than twice your salary, have a firm, a farm, a chain of houses and a very beautiful wife compared to that picture I see there. If anything even my wife is more educated thatn you are and gets a better pay package in Zambia than u. Grow up ula tusebanya.
Ummm DR. Zon, until you cheapening yourself comparing yourself to Mushota. You are above that Big Man, and if what you have written is true. Congratulations are in order, but please we want more constructive contributions from learned guys like you.
Sorry meant to write “Aren’t”
I’m a zambian and proud to be so though I have adopted another country as a citizen. Through my experience and observations students at UNZA think they are the most influential and educated but this is born out of primitive up bringing such that they think getting a degree is so special and above everyone. Look at universities in the develop world they don’t damage properties they have learnt communication is a key to better themselves and the communities they operate from. Who will employ a someone with primitive manners or a bush product ? at this age and time surely these students must learn as far as Shimumbi or manenekela does not stop from learning new things throwing stones and damaging properties is born out of stupidity and selfishness
bloggers on this site are very dull. the lady mushota is using satire to communicate and you all rise against her even those who claim to have been to unza as if it is a qualitative institute yet there is too much corruption, bottom power marks and leakage, yaaaaa ….list is endless
I have failed to Understand our so called educated youths in my country, and they want to head the country one day. God save us please.
Mushota, which beta institution would accpet 29 points? Ndeloleshafye
Mushota is part of LT management aimed at distracting bloggers when there is critical news.
Mushota congratulations on your 29 points in grade 12, the Scottish town you are in surely has a village idi*t. And how long are you going to be 27?
29 points , its it they entered into someone’s head in zambia they used to speak with minds with an intension to cause terrible bodily harm to a boy after what they claimed partook the certificate as a result of adjusts and continuous assessments of school certificates which had a possibility of bringing another certificate from grade nine level which had same exam numbers with grade twelve. people involved were e.c.z, zambian police themselves, u.s undercover agents, u.t.h medical doctors along mad german scientists. Those idiots the mind speakers who wanted to make themselves happy as well, such terrible results 29 points, its which killed my friend. they planned kill him with the deadly virus which leaves people slim and thin like snakes. Nazis the Germans when there was a terrible…
What are you smoking man????????
Dear Zambian,
whatever entry points you talk about is now silly.you can get now between 6 and 12 point but can not enter any college in Zambia.I know of brilliant young boys and girls at home with 12 points. In Zambia today colleges/universities are places for Fund raising places for college staffs.THINGS like Application FORMS @ K250, INTERVIEW FEE @K250 ALL AT NON REFUNDABLE. Imagine a college needs only 50 students for that intake and they sell 2000 application forms and call 2000 people for interviews
how match do they make?all students should go to college not this cut point nonsense you are advocating.this is failure on grz and to fail to pay maize allowance is just f.o.o.l.i.s.h. TOO MUCH CORRUPTION AGAIN HERE.SOMEBODY WHAT A CUT BEFORE PAYING.WHY DO DC NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT THEIRS?
Kill them all!!! The damaged my car beyond repair aba bafi kala fi nyo!!!
Make sure ZP u maim thoz bastards like u did in 2000 wen General Miyanda was Minister of Education. What happened after that was, everytime there was ichi vivi and somebody mentioned the site of a police van, students wud scamper in all directions, kikikikikikiki ala miyanda alibanaya those who were there
Mushota, you and all your tuma qualifications makes you the biggest bimbo slapper Zambia has ever produced.
As for the police, when Egypt revisited happens in Zambia they will all get their comeuppance, no situation is permanent.
Police use live ammo on students and all you Zambians can talk about is Mushota! no wonder your country is the way it is.You deserve it.Having said that- the current climate in Zambia is becoming dangerously explosive. There is a time bomb ticking
Mushota is a wannabe and a has been. She likes building castles in the air and pies in the sky.
In fact there’s no such a thing as “Mushota”. She’s a non existent fictitious figure and a phantom. She’s a clever creation of L/T to tickle and provoke folks that blog on this website.
Have you noticed that she’s usually the number 1 blogger on most stories. From her writing style, Mushota is a male not female. I suspect Mushota is gay. ( No offense to Gay and Lesbians) ‘Her’ everlasting fiancé “Nick” is a mirage and a fetish which gives ‘her’ the kicks when ‘she’s’ fantasizing.
am sorry my friends, you went protesting minus knowing the outcomes
VIVA STUDENT SOLIDARITY !!! VIVA !!!! ABASH POLITICAL MASTURBATION ABASH !!! ALUTA CONTINUA COZ WE ARE NOT YET UHURU !!!!
Mushota lishilu inkuba fye
Mushota are you educated or emaciated? Mwaice uletekanya. Abasambilila tabatwanga nga iwe. It shows you are not real. You could be a spook.
Mushota every year you are always 27!!! but the qualifications keep increasing..if you are as smart as you say you dont need all those qualifications…late alone bragging about them
I wish to advise my fellow friends to not respond to Mushota’s “contributions”. We wont tell who the fool is.
She enjoys your responses and makes fool out of you. Ignore her!!!!! She is never said anything positive on this forum trust me.
Even these responding to a fictitious Mushota seem not to be normal .No wonder they can support the Unza lunacy. Why should it be protests all de time, u idi ots? Can’t u sort it out in an amicable manner?l’ ll plunge my car in2 yo lazy bones 1 day.
Pipo! Mushota is a known comedian period! Just laugh about it and concentrate on serious issues…
Its amazing how bloggers fail to see that Mushota is a ‘genius’ at winding up people so she/he can sit down and enjoy reading all the knee-jerk responses. She/he probably enjoys thrilling orgasms from reading all the reactions.
On the question of UNZA. While I do not condone reckless destruction of other innocent peoples property, I fail to fathom why all successive Zambian governments have never resolved the matter of paying student allowances on time. The govt. always has weeks before students converge onto campus to prepare their allowances. And when they do report, it takes further weeks to sort out the issue – well until they riot! Yet, money for political excesses is always readily available. Surely this means higher education means nothing to govt!
I have read with dismay the comments to this story especially from sections of those that have never been to UNZA or CBU. FYI, demonstartions at Institutions of higher learning World over have been used as a means of mass consciousness. We toppled KK with Demos that started at UNZA, we thwarted FTJ’s 3rd term in a similar fashion, I was there, FTJ kept me in an isolated cell for 3 days. And i am proud i did it. If GRZ does not give the students their money, they have that right. It is a birth right. Viva UNZASU!
Our Government failing us. Constable Sata needs to calm his
Police down, why doesn’t the so called caring government address
The students and let them know before hand your allowances will be delayed
instead of always calling Police, which always ends up in disaster. Now they have
Injured a poor student just for demanding their allowance, I wish cabinet were
The ones getting their salaries last
Its not every student who takes part in these riotous behaviors at UNZA. There are well behaved and serious students as well. so stop using abusive speech on us, some of u are even calling us riffraffs, dumb eg Zemuntu&numbian princess, those are rily bad manners. Students who riot are jst a small number. so plzzzzz give us some respect. very upset about some of yo comments guyz. TAFILESEKESHA, TULEIBWELAMO!!!!!!!!!!
