Unlucky Botswana win but head home

Botswana were knocked out of the Cosafa Cup on inferior goals despite beating Kenya 2-1 in their final Group B match at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe on Thursday.

Botswana and Lesotho were tied on five points after Thursday matches but the Crodiles advanced from Group B after stunning Swaziland 2-0 in Lusaka.

With the Zebras seemingly heading for a 1-0 win, defender Edwin Olerile headed into his own net to equalise for Kenya.

However, deep in additional time Jerome Ramatlhakwana scored the winner that was not enough to propell Botswana into the last eight.

Stanley Tshosane’s side led on 11 minutes when Lemponye Tshireletso slotted in from a set piece.

Botswana are heading to back to Gaborone with a win, two draws and five goals.
