Two stunning free kicks in each half sealed Zambia’s 2013 Cosafa cup triumph in a Trans-Zambezi derby final at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Zambia beat zimbabwe 2-0 to end a year after year Cosafa cup draught and hand Herve Renard his first regional title on the third attempt.
It took just four minutes into the first half for Zambia to take the lead through Nchanga Rangers winger Alex Ngonga.
Ngonga, who was given a rare start by Renard at the tournament, fired in a breathtaking free-kick that gave Maxwell Nyamupanedengu no chance.
Zambia dominated Zimbabwe in the first half but were let down by very poor finishing by Festus Mbewe and his strike partner Bornwell Mwape.
Mwape especially gifted Nyamupanedengu tame shots considering the reputation the Nchanga striker came with to the competition where he left with one goal.
Ngonga however, was on fire in his best display to date in a Zambia shirt.
Victory was sealed in added time of the 90th minute when substitute defender Kabaso Chongo from another set piece similar to the one he replaced in the 69th minute.
Zambia are now level on four Cosafa Cup wins tied with Zimbabwe.

Hatembo I wonder if you a soccer fun else you will know that a competition like the COSAFA usually does not have the full first team squad and is used to identify new talent. Further more as some of the premium leagues in which most of our professional play (especially the South Africa one) are in session and the teams refused to release their players it was not possible for the likes of Mweene to participate. I hope next time you will not go straight to jumping to conclusions especially assuming it has something to do with tribe

I dont like mbewe and bornwell in this team. They underperformed for 3 games. Rena pls dont use them for chan games. Those are real passangers, marking on behalf of opponents in form of fouls,offsides,bad trapping,misfiring oooops. Not close to an international striker
