Opposition parties have scooped three of the four constituencies in parliamentary bye elections held yesterday.
MMD Mtolo Phiri retained the Chipata Central seat after amassing 8186 votes beating his closest rival Lameck Mangani of the PF who received 5913 votes.
The UPND broke new ground on the Copperbelt scooping the Kafulafuta seat and penetrated North western province by winning the Solwezi East seat.
Its candidate Brian Chitafu in Kafulafuta polled 2,504 and was closely followed by ruling PF’s James Chishiba with 2,407 while NAREP’s Jimmy Kasabwa managed 329 votes.
MMD’s Evelyn Mwanawasa who had withdrawn from the election on account of poor health still managed 32 votes.
In Mkushi North, PF’s Ingrid Mphande looked set for victory with preliminary results showing that she had received 3287 while the MMD was in second with 1104 votes.
Official results for Solwezi East have not come through yet but the UPND has claimed victory.
Its Vice President Canisius Banda thanked the people of Kafulafuta and Solwezi East for agreeing to take Zambia forward.
Dr Banda said the Mkushi North seat for the PF is a mere consolation.
UPND’s Villie Lombanya is new Solwezi East MP
Newly elected opposition UPND MP Villie Lombanya says the PF’s loss in Thursday’s bye election is a warning that people cannot be taken for granted.
Speaking shortly after he was dully declared winner by returning officer Frederick Munkuni, Mr Lombanya said the PF has been taught a lesson.
Mr. Lombanya polled 3,127 votes followed by the PF with 1,474.
He said Zambians will not be swayed by cheap theoretical politics of the PF.
Mr. Lombanya said the people rejected the PF because it has failed to take development to Solwezi East in its two years in power.
The Hour Oye! Oye!
Ah! I was wondering why that Andrew Banda was being harassed…
Poor Mmembe, Judge Ngoma, Storella, Justice Allan Wood, Wynter, Mpezeni, etc
ah,,hhahahahahahh! the will of the people must prevail, Sata is not a god, he must know that…
shocking UPND on the copperbelt,, unbelievable but true
Letest news from statehouse is that PF has withdrawn all the petition still pending judgement in the courts for fear of further embarrassments. PF SG this morning said the PF as a listening Govt, will withdraw all the Petitions as they are a drain on the Zambian Budget and causing alot of Suffering among Zambians…
Another good move from the listening Govt….
Wao! wao! wao! UPND has won a seat on the Copperbelt!! This is a nice surprise this morning. The more shocking news is that out of 4 seats the ruling party has scooped only one seat. This has got too messages!
1. People are questioning the leadership of PF
2. PF are honest leaders who cannot rig an election. They believe in democracy.
The Conclusion is – Democracy is thriving under PF. People are now freely participating and choosing their own leaders. This is wonderful for our democracy.
This is a timely wake up call for the PF govt to deliver development to the people..
To the Zambians, this is the only weapon we have and we must apply it to its maximum effect. Its the only message that any govt around the world understands.
If we want our country to develop, vote out any govt that does not deliver on its campaign promises.
there should be no excuse for any govt that doesnt deliver
Congratulations to the opposition parties and wake up PF and deliver to the people!!
Yaluka PF!
UPND seems to have benefited from mmds collapse in kafulafuta and RB worked the hard in chipata
History in the making: PF will have come and gone as aparty that ruled for a term, booted out disintegrated never to exist again. A one term one man party….
The people have spoken.
Wala- Wala – PF upside down, God thank you for loving Zambia.
WELL DONE MBUYAS FOR TEACHING MPEZENI A LESSON. BY ATTENDING A RALLY IN BIG NUMBERS STILL STBING THE PA BUFI PARTY, YOU HAVE DONE A REAL DONT KUBEBA. YES HOW COULD YOU VOTE FOR FOR THEM AFTER THOSE INSULTS COMING FROM THE PRESIDENT? ANY MP STILL INTERESTED IN CAUSING A STUPID BY ELECTION.? MY MBUYAS WILL SORT YOU OUT.NORTH WESTERNERS YOU ARE GREAT. HON MULUSA, THANKS FOR YOUR LONG WALK TO FREEDOM
good one!!!!
lets see if hyena hyena ll call for the investigation of ecz and the withdraw of pf petitions. Pf ll bounce back i can assure you,it has a history of good planning and strategising. Your celebrations under5s ll be shortlived. All lumpens who say pf manipulates see for yourselves that sata is a democratic man.
2016 can’t come soon enough for me.
who told you that Mulusa walked? He was using his vehicle and it was a stupid protest. Sarah Sayifwanda his friend has never been to her constituency but was pretending also to walk. Failures! Still PF ruling.
If PF is doing a good job in office, why are people voting against them??? If Sata is a good leader, why are Zambians voting against him. The answer is simple. Sata and PF are failures who are Zambia backwards and not forward. The Dictator in State House has failed to hold a press conference because he can’t even speak English. He is a thug from the streets. Zambians, lets unite and take back our country from these crooks in State House. Viva MMD Viva UPND and Viva HH.
I NOTICE ENEN THE POLICE ON THE PICTURE LOOK HAPPY.EVERYONE IS TIRED OF UBUFI AND INSULTS
I am waiting for the dumb and silly kolwestan comments about how UPND is a tribal party. Even after rigging, they have trounced your kolwestan mentor and his pf. I dread being countrymen with these tribal, lazy, dumb and corrupt people. I am loving the stance our Tonga brothers and sisters have taken against this hopeless tribe and now the rest of Zambia can see how hopeless they are.
stu.pid comment
no need for your vile comments. you are only reinforcing the stereotypes
@ Zed Patriot. your comments leave a bitter taste.
Grow up zedpatriot your comment is childish!!!!! What has the tribe got to do with this?
They give you a vote and you re insulting them. mabisi pamenso!!
@Zed Patriot, a patriot speaking like that. You’re lucky you hiding behind the web. I would have loved to practice some Rwanda inspired tactics on you so you know how dangerous your kind of thinking can get. You think stereotype based genocides come by accident. They’re caused by comments like yours. You label people who have given your brother a vote ‘tribal, lazy, dumb and corrupt people’? People who risk there lives mining…going to the depths of the earth for the country to have some decent national income, lazy? You stereotype tribes based on a few bad eggs and teach hatred like that? Karma is a bitch. She’ll surely get you..whoever and wherever you are.
Can the Editor please remove these cheap tribal comments!!
I thought this type commentary was for watchdog only so we are seeing it here even where we thought there was some civility!! Tribalism wont help zed patriot! Even those people in Kafulafuta who voted UPND did so out of conviction rather than tribe. Do you consider Lambas to be closer to Tongas or to Bembas! You have a complex which may keep you bitter forever. If Bembas are a problem for you,why don’t you outsmart them and go ahead of them since they are dumb and lazy as you describe them!! That should tell you who is dumb! If voting on tribal lines is a major factor in politics, some tribes may never have a chance to rule this country!
You sound angry. Let go of your anger, and you will head victory, but with this your comment you are headed nowhere. Let go of your hurt, they are still in power remember!
Please forgive this clown.
I’ve also just realised that Bembas have voted objectively.
I personally don’t know the candidates, but I’m damn glad that multi party democracy has begun defending itself.
Zedpatriot, you are a useless THING, stupid tribalist
This is so childish. Please keep your arhaic remarks in your b.u.t.t. It is such stupid people who are going to destroy Zambia. Be above such stupid people. Let objectivity be the guide – is the government delivering or not? Not which tribe is in. I wish I could slap your silly face!
When you fools call others bantustans and cow dung who sleep with thier animals on this site you dont react like this. The truth hurts. Get a taste of your own medicine you monkeys.
So he denies being a tribalist! If you licked this punk’s heart you would be poisoned. Please Zed Patriot, for your own sake try hard to exorcise the hatred in your chest, it will choke and kill you. You will die from ichikonko. Remember Bembas are here to stay, you can learn to live with that, can’t you? We won’t go back to Congo, just so you can be happy. Why don’t you emigrate and leave us alone in our beautiful country?
@Zed Patriot – you are disgrace to yourself! Grow up!! Ba Editor block this guy out!
UPND IS NOT A TRIBAL PARTY NEITHER IS IT A REGIONAL PARTY.2016 WATCHOUT. KAFULAFUTA,CHIPATA AND SOLWEZI EAST WELL DONE FOR TEACHING PF A DON’T KUBEBA SONG.
Zed Patriot, your personal hatred against the Tongas is going to castrate you and yours alive.Viva UPND Viva MMD.one Zambia, One Nation.Chipata, Kafulafuta and Solwezi Ni Zee.
I can’t believe that we still think of Zambia in the form of tribes! Does any one Zambian have parents and grandparents who are solely from one “tribe”? We all have relatives from many tribes and unless you can prove to me that one tribe is scientifically inferior/superior to another, then please keep your unfounded views to yourself.
This is our Zambia, and whether we like it or not, we have multiple tribes but we have to learn to play together. This is exactly what racism is – it just so happens that we have the same skin colour, but this is prejudice, segregation, apartheid, racism!
#OneZambia
Ba pratriot (i wonder if he even knows the meaning of the word), bembas have shown you that they can vote objectively and above tribal lines than your fellow cows with heads full of dung!
Do any of you faggots understand what patriotism is? Whe you people insult other tribes and say all the stupid comments you make about Tongas and other tribes on this site, none of you condemns it, as long as it is from your tribe. In 1996 I personally supported a great son of the soil, Dean Mungomba. I have just realised how tribal Bembas are. Like I said, get a taste of your own medicine. The insults other tribes have endured on this site are disgusting. We don’t fear you, if you want respect, respect others too. Even the Nazis went down disgracefully. If you make tribal comments and call others bantustans who sleep with their cows, we will also call you whatever. UPND has not won in Luapula or Northen. They won in Lambaland.
FOOLISH IDIOT KIND OF THINKING.
But what a waste of our resources??the presidents bufi rally was attended by a lot of ministers and DCs even from other provinces. How much allowances was that? Aside from ecz costs. Please someone should compile a record of what we are spending so that we send a bill to someone come 2016 when we get rid of this party which obtained people’s votes by false pretences.
Congrats Zambia, lets unite against hooliganism, violence, unplanned expenditure, illegality in judiciary, uBUFI and evil – all these are hallmarks of certain political party. Lets reclaim OUR country. The people have spoken
That is very right my friend. Viva people of Zambia we shud not be intimidated fyakale ifyakulatina.
This is how democracy should work, at least people have spoken and congrats to all major parties, they all at least won a seat. Thumbs up to UPND maybe they have finally started penetrating copper belt and keep working hard don’t relax, other wise the mountain to climb come 2016 is still huge.
Looks like a vote of no confidence against the PF
Even the response from the bloggers is stupendous with about 9 to 1 comments going against PF .The party of chaos should be shaking at the overwhelming anti PF feeling.
IT IS WARNING SHOT ,PEOPLE ARE DISAPOINTED WITH PF CHANGE OF EVENTS.
CONGRATULATIONS UPND,MMD..NOW IS THE TIME TO SWEEP THE COUNTRY CLEAN.
you will only be winning in bush utu ma party twamumushi.
@ek
in fact winning in the bush is more sweet then wnning in town.kekekekekek… you are choking with bitterness
@ ek,
You are pathetic, are you telling us that those that live and vote in rural areas (bush) are not human beings? I can see you are blogging from RSA the country your master Guy Scott referred to as primitive and you have chosen to adopt his dirty language.
Your PF has failed and is on the way out.
People are disappointed with the PF. The only change which the PF has brought is bringing hate, violence and insults into our politics!!
a close look at the results will show that mmd members voted for upnd -on its own upnd can not dislodge pf
@al
your closer look matters less,, those MMD people why did they choose UPND over PF?? Thats were your closer look must be directed at
14.2 yes they chose upnd – even with the 2 combining in kafulafuta and solwezi the difference is only 100 and something in areas that were opposisition held-in a normal democracy the ruling party suffers in mid term elections all over the world but come the big one they triumph
@al
dont just say yes,.. those people chose UPND because it was a better alternative,
Then dont be in denial, PF is not popular and people have realise that PF is a lying party in a big way,,, its people like you (pf supporters) in the diaspora who are exposed to better to democracies who can help PF from inside structures by encourage a better image….
And 100 votes difference is alot for the opposition considering that PF used Govt machinery to try and rigg but failed.. thats a fact you and me know well. it happened with MMD and its happening now!!!!
14.4 l agree upnd won- but if you are into politics you have to look deeper into the numbers to guage where you are and a closer look will reveal that upnd benefited from mmd votes. lf eva mwanawasa had not withdrawn she would have most probably won-her votes shifted to upnd. The few remaining mmd voters are die hard who would not vote for pf come hail rain or hard water.Pf need to do a better job at getting people out to vote in midterm elections as opposition voters are generally more energised during mid terms than ruling party members
you are a lost soul.. you cant even see that,, thats copperbelt strong hold for PF,, NO reason for PF to lose.. nothing,,
Losing to UPND or MMD or whoever should be a source of worry NO excuse!!!
And also this shows that people have now started seeing through the lies of PF, its time PF started doing the right thing.. telling the truth
I’m going to petition the election results again. MMD used juju to win…
taumfwa
I pity Lameck Mangani and I guess he wishes he had not crossed over. This will mark a watershed moment in his political life as I see him riding into the sunset. Kabimba had said before that Mangani was not one of PF. Having failed to make it as MP for Chipata Central, thats it!
Just come to think of it – Mangani has lost because of Wynter Kabimba. Sometime back before the by elections, Wynter had said, Mangani is not a PF member he is just a sympathiser. Now imagine how the PF provincial and district officials felt when he was put up to run for elections? These are people that fought for PF for 10 years, but they have just been sidelined.
PF cadres in the districts live as if their ruling party is not in power. They are disillusioned so they cant campaign vigorously for the party that seem not to rewaqrd them for the hard work in 2011. Somewhere in Southern Province Wynter said – all PF members will benefit from the party, time is coming. The problem is he has already benefited, the people that walked long distances to campaign in 2011 have not!!
That is what democracy is all about. Am happy that the opposition has won these seats. It is good for democracy. After all the political hogwash bickering as a neutral am happy the majority of the seats have been scooped by the opposition
Despite the loss in those 3 other parliamentary seats, PATRIOTIC FRONT IS STILL STRONG on the ground
Pelekeleko, you still live in denial.I am laughing my lungs out! What do you mean PF is still strong on the ground? OR YOU MEANT TO SAY pf IS STRONG UNDERGROUND? LOL
Keep on dreaming. UPND is next in Plot 1
Which ground?? Try cities like Lusaka and you will get the shock of your life. Expel Given and see how u will be battered. How can the party in power with all the resources loose a by election? I voted for PF in 2011 but can never again because of your Nepotism, Insults and violence. Change your ways guys otherwise come 2016 you are gone.
Strong where? Rubbish! cause a bye election in Lusaka, kanyama in particular and have a rude shock of your life. Stupid PF blind follower.
@ Pelekelo,
Please don’t use the term ‘on the ground’ so loosely, like someone has already asked, on which ground is the PF still strong? PF cadres have a huge problem, the see things upside down.
Yeah you are very right ! PF is still on the ground especially when they are armed with all sorts of weapons that they use against the ordinary Zambians, bishops, opposition parties !!!!! Stripping our own mothers in public just because they are in opposition parties??? Yes… PF RE really strong on the ground !!! GO FIGURE, YOU IDIOTIC KAPONYA !!!!!
Which ground? let the power failures cause another by elections in the urban area and they will be shocked.
PF is NOT invincible after all. Although MMD has lost two seats the good news is that PF did not win in areas where they engaged in violence. Lesson: You don’t become popular through violence.
The bad news is that PF support is dwindling in almost all the areas. That is what happens when you come to power with a big bang, the bigger the bang the stronger the bounce off.
This is the best news that EVER CAME OUT OF ZAMBIA. INSPITE OF ALL THE VIOLENCE, RIGGING AND MONEYS BEING SPENT ON BY- ELECTIONS, the pf still losses, GOD will answer our cries. GOD IS GREAT, GOD WILL RESCUE HIS CHILDREN.
Thank you Zambia. My country will not be intimidated with violence nor sell its soul to the highest bidder! Zambia HAS been saved. We did it in 1991 and we can did it again!!! Abash dictatorship, abash censorship; viva democracy, pamberi with freedom of speech!!! The voice of the people is the voice of God.
Chishiba yaluka..this man has gone through a lot of hardships and he owes me money, after becoming mp he still was not happy and wanted more.now he has been sent back to poverty street where he belongs.Well done zambians this is a warning to those mps who want to cause by elections
PF they have finally lost touch with the people who voted them into office.Even the so called HH is beating you on the copperbelt supposedly your home backyard.
Too much UBUFI!
these are all seats pf did not win at the last elections-all pf needs to do is hold onto the seats they have and increase votes in the bemba lands and they will be safe
Thanks Kafulafuta for teaching Chishiba a lesson he will never forget! I am sure he is regretting his move to defect and resign his seat! And I think there are no hopes of becoming PS, dep. minister or foreign mission. Thanks Kafulafuta
ndeloleshyafye
The PF have proved to be more democratic than any other party, honestly if the MMD were still in power they would have rigged to win all the seats. All the 4 seats were MMD and they have only retained one so the loss is theirs.
And did .PF win …… no brainer !
#23.1, PF has grabbed one from MMD.
@ubufibwa PF & Kamutengo
you must be chocking with bitterness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Taima was a minister technically he was working with and for the PF government,, against his own,,, the opposition MMD. So the point is PF has not won anything here!!
what PF wants is a huge majority and very very small opposition or No oppsition so that they can rule as one party state…so this! is a setback to the PF plan … chilli pilipili in Sata`s mouth Heads are rolling at state house today for not rigging to win those elections,,..and sugar in the opposition mouth
@#23 You must be having a laugh…do you even know what democracy is…do you know what it means ? The numerous reports of violence that the opposition have been subjected to at the hands of PF thugs, the shootings, the arrest of journalist…you call that democracy??? you must be living in a bubble. Be real with yourself and quite this business of promoting imbecility
Mulusa’s Long walk against under development has worked . He traversed Solwezi East where this road the hell run runs through. He reminded the people of the daily canages they witness on this road. The people on this road have been turned into un trained rescue teams. Congratulation UPND, Lambas on CB and North Western. Mubukwanu never mentioned the road will be upgraded any time soon. He said a contractor will be patching potholes. Making the road a death trap.Meanwhile a serious road upgrading is on, in Muchinga,Northen, Luapula. Solwezi town ship road constraction started by MMD has been stalled by PF. Dust all over. 2016 NWP for UPND, like it or not. Even CB, Lusaka,Western,Central will be for opposition. We hear the cries of the youths. We are on the ground.
On the roads being constructed you forgot to mention Southern and Western Province were stadiums are being constructed too.
Countrymen/women/children. My dreams for this country are freedom (we won it twice: from the British in 1963-4 and from Kaunda in 1990-1). Kaunda is back working through Sata. Make no mistake. Let us galvanise and say NO to Kaunda/Sata dictatorship. Press freedom, personal liberties, and culture is under attack. My faith is with the Zambians. We did it in 1991, together let us reclaim our freedom from the dictatorship of Kaunda/Sata!!! We thank Eastern, Copperbelt and Northwestern Province for joining the liberated zones of Western and Southern Province. I urge my compatriots of Luapula to emulate the spirit of freedom in aba tonga naba lozi. Mpezeni was sebana; viva Jumbe!!!!!
Ayami veri veri hepi. Let us teach pf a great lesson. let Sata start going to the courts with no passport in 2016
hahahahahahahahaaaaaaaa……………………………….. the best news of the day. pama fi party is going down into oblivion. their ubufi will be remembered no more. next stop is in luansya in roan constituency to dislodge the golf club course grabber. viva opposition, viva. today urine bags will fill every 30minutes
TRUE DEMOCRACY. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNING CANDIDATES
Ali i am not fanatic of the MMD nor UPND but it is indeed a sense of relief that despite all the violence, bribing, freedom of speech and private media right infrigements by the pf government, the PF has failed to scoop all the four seats.whether MMD lost these seats before or not thats beside the point.Three of these seats still remain with the opposition parties.REMEMBER ZAMBIA DOES NOT BELONG TO RB OR SATA OR KAUNDA,WE THE PEOPLE CALL OFF THE SHOTS!!
Where’s Ndobo and George Bush? I want to hear their comments! I bet they will say something like this: “Oh at least we ve congralatulated our opponents, we are not bitter”.
They are surely leaking their wounds and choking with envy and anger. They have endless hiccups of sorrow and have eaten humble pie!
And ‘King of Kings’ Mpezeni and his Kapatsos? The Chief has been morally dethroned. Let him fold his monkey tail between his legs and shut up for once!
Siamunene and Monde, you are next!
hey man…. get your facts right am NOT a PF cadre, am a defender of democracy,,, so what has happened is sugar in mouth,, considering that in chipata there was gun shots plus ARV mpezeni,,, and MMD still wins, i tell you what!! l i understand why Andrew Band is being harassed
@30.1 Ndobo.
The people of Chipata Centra have spoken. Its time Andrew was set free.Don`t harass the Andrew banda for guiding his people to do the right thing. He comes from Chipata and has a duty to guide his people on the right path.
7 guns one cresseda
I now hereby announce my RESIGNATION from PF with immediate effect. This boat is beginning to sink. Not all of us agreed to this tribalism, violence & oppression of fellow Zambians. I’ll take my time choosing my next move. Suggestions are welcome
kkekekekekkekk! your president wont be happy with you!! just becareful you might end up in jail for resigning
I can see the mountain top… i may not be there with you
One day we shall be free at last…..

Amfumu Mpezeni mu zi nyele mu talauzi. Mwa ona kudelela bantu banu? Abo bantu banu, beluta kumasukulu a mfumu. Lomba mwewo ndalama kwa Sata mukulya mweka ndiye bvuto.
Congratulations UPND! Let’s get PF out in 2016! NAREP should join our side.
I have officially resigned from PF.Too much UBUFI.I will try NAREP.
For your own info, NAREP has not won a single seat from the time the party was formed in 2009. They don’t even have a Councillor to their name. It is just a Facebook political party with utopian ideas. choose your next move wisely, joining UPND wouldnt be a bad idea considering that they are the next best alternative after pafwaka party(PF). friendly advice
This is a Message to the CJ ; don’t be quick to nullify seats that are genuinely Won (chipata seat)
This is a Message to the CJ ; don’t be quick to nullify seats that where genuinely Won (chipata seat)
We want a bye election in Lusaka. Expel Lubinda. Can someone resign so that we test the waters and I know hat the answer will be.
Buffffi…………………………
Iwe ba Sata has useless ministers who have failed to deliver.I once supported PF but i’m disappointed with PF.Ha ha the govt has lost direction. Losing popularity in 2 years? Ba PF how could you lose 3 by-elections?Reason for loosing are 1.Removing subsides.2.Illegal Chief justice. 3.Dictortorship from PF.4 Too much by-elections.5. Zambians don’t want what was happening in MMD govt,Insulting people and beating them.
Never arrest people for doing nothing. Zambians removed MMD Coz we had no freedom coz of william Banda and arresting of Mr.Sata.I don’t know why people like Sata can’t see that.Iwe 2016 will be bad 4 Mudala.
but u voted for upnd were willian banda is a top ranking official so your complaint is delusional
2016- here we come, we shall teach these PF thugs a bitter lesson,Congrats UPND( our only hope for a better Zambia) Ka Kabimba you are so disgusting, listening to your interview yester night on ZNBC was hell. We shall deal with you, careful!
When MMD was in power, PF and UPND used to win by elections therefore this what democracy is all about. You have three years more to build on but the fact is NGOs and the opposition in particular UPND complain about by elections?
We’re now making international news for all the wrong reasons. It’s time we started taking our country back, one by-election at a time.
HALEISA!! HALEISA! =HH
LESA MUKULU
Amen to that. i have testified.
hahahahahaha… a taste of their own medicine, Donch Kubeba sounds good when you’re in opposition zoona. Anyway thats good for our democracy, hope the elected members will deliver.
TITANIC
Excellent results especially in Chipata Central. Chi Lameck Mangani thought he was untouchable. I’m extremely happy. Its a pity I’m a poor person I would have rushed to Chipata to throw a Party. Asata enyoza a mfumu Jumbe pa public. Nibani angakondwele? A m’pezeni mwailasha!!!!!! Wenyoooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!! Continue taking your ARVs quietly.
TIYE BAYA HAHAHAHA
Mr Lusambo was recently quoted as having said that the MMD youth wing had decided to support the PF in Kafulafuta and Solwezi East parliamentary by-elections because the UPND could not be trusted.
………HAMIYANZE
Congrats to the winning Parties MMD, UPND and PF. This is how it should be , seats must be shared so as to strengthen democracy.
But a warning to PF. PF if you will continue behaving like the MMD , know that you will be losing support so easily. Zambians have said no to political violence and as such they will always vote against a party practicing it. When your cadres are behaving ruthlessly you cant act against them and you expect people to vote for you? No no. PF you will cry in 2016 if you continue this violence against your opponents. We have always advised you to ignore the opposition, if they want to hold a rally, give them a permit..allow them. Because of the way you are behaving people have started to sympathize with the opposition. Change your strategy PF .
True!!!
Time introspection, da biggest trouble in PF especially with top leadership is arrongancy. Pipo fought with u and decide to abundon them just because u r power today. U suspended bene Lucas phiri who had risked their lives under a tyrany MMD regime. The other time i took my papers to Hon. Winters office but only to be greeted by a very arrongant and secretary. I left da office very disapointed. So pipo re no longer interested to sacrifice for PF anymore.
Wonderful news indeed, GO UPND GO! Let UPND penetrate Nothern and Muchinga. Satan is not invisible
PF listerns to the people.Winter Kabimba has destroyed PF & Mmembe. Lusaka is full of street vendors.Look at Kamwala south Roads?PF has failed to tar 2 important roads in the area (Zipas & break point libala south road).U think people will vote 4 PF in 2016?The answer is big noooooooo.Maybe the late Chiluba was right when he said Ba mudala can just rule unless under somebody.Ba Sata mwapwa bwangu.Ba Sata God has given you the opportunity to rule but please don’t mistreat people especially in this world of technology.Phones are everywhere n u can’t stop them. The best is to deliver good constitution and allow people to express themselves freely.Never Never allow police to arrest people who are against govt.why why why Bata?people advising you arresting people are destroying U & arent…
I have noticed that some people just want to comment even for things they do not clearly understand or know. I agree that they misapply free speech and use it as hate speech. What we should realise is that these elections mean nothing much because UPND has not gained any from PF, it is restoring what it probably lost from MMD. Kafulafuta and Solwezi have never been PF strongholds. In fact looking at the results of Kafulafuta UPND should not even boast because that was an even contest. PF has gained in Mkushi because that place has been an MMD stronghold. UPND can only gauge its gains if it wins in CB urban and Lusaka Urban or in PF strongholds which they have never done.
Uwawa tabula akabepesho mukwaii…..
@
Zed@crossroad. A Frog wont know that the temperature is changing until it boils to death.
This is a serious issue, treat it with right mind. You have not worn after petitioning, so you are the loser. Wake up call.
A good analysis indeed. PF has always struggled in Kafulafuta, Solwezi East, Chipata Central and Mkushi. At least, PF has won Mkushi. Looking at the difference in votes between PF and UPND in Kafulafuta, If MMD had stood, PF would have won. This may be an indication to the opposition that if they all field candidates in an election, they stand to benefit PF. The lesson for PF is to reconnect with the people. Removal of subsidies may help save money for developmental programmes that benefit many Zambians. But this will only convince all and sundry if PF also reduces its cabinet and cuts down on some fringe benefits for members of government. People want to see that we all have a fair share in the benefits and burdens of developing the country together.
Kabwata was UPND under Given Lubinda and Anderson Mazoka. Kanyama too was UPND. Do say UPND has never won in Lusaka
This is a great day indeed, when lies have been put in their right place. The right place for lies is failure and that is what the great sons and daughters of Solwezi, kafulafuta and Chipata have done. Your votes are very much appreciated and the message is clear to the would be defectors like Siamunene. We as the people we have the final say and it will matter. Congrats to all the winners from the opposition.
PF beaten at their Donchi Kubeba style, mind you from now on, you will keep losing as long as you keep being arrogant. A lesson taught to you indeed.
e message from the bye Election results are clear. You can full some people sometimes, but you can’t full all the people all the time.
Zondwa liked being opposition Leader but was not ready to be President. Have never seen a government that has no policy direction in any sector of the Economy before. Only in Zambia and only with PF.
Halleluyah, the high speed trainwreck of the PF has started to derail with force majeure.
Hit back! The expense on unnecessary elections, thuggerism that has come about, over optimism, not listening, overly pressing self, not holding press conferences, etc. Just obvious things that PF can do. The things that people are talking about but you keep brushing them aside, they will cost you. You may only be there for one term because you causing yourselves negative tag. Do not overate yourself. Unless you realise your shortcomings and correct them, one term may be enough for you. Opposition is not made up of foreigners but your fellow country people. Respect them and their opinions matters a lot. Well, watchout.
I will go to sleep laughing till tomorrow morning. The Hon. Minister of Justice must be in a pensive mood. Sir, concentrate of dispensing justice as well as reorganising your party. You have been behaving like an opposition cadre since you came into that office. We want you to be a Minister for all, whether they are opposition or for your party. It is a matter of simple Grade 9 Civics to distinguish between a Minister and a Secretary-General of a political party. Thank you MMD and UPND and all the other opposition political parties which participated. Above all, congratulations to our “former” gullible voters. You have vindicated yourselves. The thugs are now planning how next to harras the opposition.
PF should not take things lightly. There is no mathematics involved here. Simply, these are indications of the general feelings of people and things to come.
This is so sweet for Zambia as a country atleast we have shown that we cannot be intimidated by these failures. Viva courage Mpezeni and Sata 0. Taima wrong timing and chishiba has been rebased.
This should force the snake to come out of hibernation inside State House. He needs to start engaging with the people before his popularity takes a nose dive. This should be a good lesson to the ruling party in that you cannot take people for granted. The clock is ticking and it is time to reset it.
Oh people. I thought most of us wanted a multi party democratic country in Zambia. This is the only way to maintain democracy. If PF had won all the seats, we were still going to cry that PF is killing multi-party democracy. I do not think when there is a bye election, the ruling party should always win. It will create further unnecessary bye elections and kill opposition parties. Based on these results, even those MPs who are thinking of crossing over to PF will start thinking twice and then we will keep the opposition in place. This is good for democracy in my view. The onus is on PF to deviver development to every part of the country and come 2016, they can campaign based on what they have delivered.
John it is not about FP losing these bye elections, it is a question of the conduct of PF. Let PF learn to co-exist with everybody who does not embrace their style of leadership. They have on a number of occasions denied rally permits to the opposition parties but what has happened, the people have shown PF that they are the masters.
Sorry i meant “deliver” and not deviver.
Chritians rise up and pray to God. all the evil things happening in our country will come to an end. i didnt care who won in these are areas, but in kafulafuta where innocent lives where lost, i asked God to prevail and prove that he is God to us all. i prayed that God should show those that sacrifice innocent lives during elections, that he is indeed our Mighty God. when i heard that pipo died in kafulatuta prior to elections, i prayed to God that the blood of innocnet people, crying for justice should not be used by evil people. i prayed and this was my prayer” O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, let it be known that you are God and i am your servant, let these people know through my prayer that you are God and that they should not be using blood sacrifces to win elections. i want…
i want you show them that they cant win by making blood sacrifices. O lord answer my prayer. God has answered my prayer. christians lets get on our knees and pray for our country, we are sleeping and not praying thats why there has been so much blood shed and evil occurences in our country. i sactify my testimony with the blood of Jesus so that it may open the eyes of many. Praise be to God.
You needed not even close the Zambin Watchdog. You should have just used the legal avenue and that would have costed them a lot through legal charges for many wrongs they posted. They cooked stories, they lied, they defamed individuals, they falsified facts etc all of which could have made them pay dearly. And that was going to compel them to do professional reporting. Closing them make you look bad whilst they truimph even when they were in the wrong. They could have blocked bad blogging.
@Floyd Chitalu. Trouble is that it is hard pin point those running blogs and as they do not have register to start operating in cyber space. If the Watchdog had good intentions of promoting freedom of speech by informing citizens they could not have resorted to gutter journalism of falsehoods and vile biases in their report.Attacking individuals who could not seek recourse and fanning ethnic hatred and insults!! They needed to be closed because if they were right with what they were doing they did not need to hide! It appears readers who feed on ethnicity have migrated to this site and moderators to do not do their job- we loose it!!
Sorry I meant to say….and IF moderators DO NOT do their job- we will loose it!!
I am very happy with the out come. I just cant wait for 2016. I need to make correction in my voting. HH, Nevers and Chipimo job well done.
Bye Elections are good…not so?
If they are bad no one can celebrate even if they win.
PF IS VINDICATED that it is a party that believes in equity.PF cant rig elections because they believe in the will of the people.
Congratulations UPND & MMD for scooping 3 out of 4 parliamentary seats. Can you now petition as to why you have won? please lets be mature Zambia is for all of us.
They were overwhelmingly out -voted so don’t say PF is vindicated.
This has just made my day. I am so happy. Maybe this will stop the selfish, politics of the belly MPs from resigning from opposition political parties and the money being wasted on these instigated by-elections can go towards important developmental projects in out country.
While the PF does not need to press the panic button just going by these results, it certainly must give them opportunity for a reality check and take stock of some decisions and statements.
For Chipata, it is well known that Easterners take long to chnage direction, they are amongst the most loyal political groupings you can find in Zambia, it took them long to abandon UNIP when everone else had moved on. But still, Mangani is a strong candidate there and three things may have gone wrong there. The “backward” remark by the President as well as castigating Chief Jumbe publicly did not help matters. Secondly, the “chap” by His honour the Vice President maqy have brought RB into the picture and incensed his royalists compounded by the apparent politicking by Nkosi, has no political…
I agree with you. Since coming to power, the PF seems to lack a clear system of engaging with the public.Even on issues where they have an advantage, they fail to deliver convincing messages and they are often times reacting rather than being proactive! I wonder how a government which has been in power for two years fail to convince the people of North Western Province that the under development they see now is not as a result of PF but is as a result of previous governments and they were on course to change things and site clear examples! This election is a lesson to them if at all they learn!
That’s what normally happens when you become too full of yourself. You forget who put you in power and in the process those people with power begin to forget about you too.
It’s all clear that power resides in people who can or cannot put in power. PF needs to wake up now
I thot NAREP was now as big as UPND but the numbers they are getting are worrying, congrants to UPND and MMD lets now support mama Dora on whatever ticket she stands on.
leave NAREP alone..still growing up and learning
Very sexy lessons learnt from the bye elections.
1. PF don’t cause unnecessary bye elections, deem them necessary if you think you will win, dare us at national expense
2. PF the removal of Subsidies are working against you. Anyways Kafulafuta and Solwezi has never been your stronghold
3. Opposition MPs, resign and sell your seats to your fellow opposition MPs you are strengthening your friends. Your friends will now enjoy the gratuity you have just given up. Stop intra and interopposition fighting
4. Celebrate as UPND makes inroads into C/belt or may be electrorates did not have a choice
5. I am waiting for my area MP to resign or something so that we too can teach PF are lesson. The chap has never shown his agree face to his area since the gen. elections. I admire the lunatic…
Very sexy lessons learnt from the bye elections cont.
4. Celebrate as UPND makes inroads into C/belt or maybe electrorates did not have a choice
5. I am waiting for my area MP to resign or something so that we too can teach PF are lesson. The chap has never shown his ugly face to his area since the gen. elections. I admire the lunatic Kambwili, lunatic because he has insulted the man of God who has joined the political bandwaggon
The right thing done at a wrong time becomes a wrong thing. Dora should also be handed back her seat in Petauke.
Congrates to Hon. Mutolo
Enjoy Wisely.
Sata’s campaign language is doing a lot of harm to his own party…Some of the statements he uttered a few days ago leaves much to be desired. He is a liability to his own party.
It is a great day for the opposition, congrats!!
Kuya bebele come 2016
Now where are those people who were complaining about too many by-elections?
the people have spoken, not every day is chrismas day.
Congratulations to the winning candidates. I was starting to become worried that the opposition could only go whining to foreigners and paying them to complain about PF internationally. They have proved they are still relevant. This also shows that assertions that Zambia has become a one-party dictatorship are malicious lies – we see the proof today
The people have put the writing on the wall….. warning shots have been fired. Its for those with ears to listen…
2016 will be sweet
no need to celebrate, these are just the same idiots being recycled.
pipo r not stupid anymore. u cnt go about beating and stripping pipo naked en think u cn win.ba winter wake up en smell the coffee(pf”s downfall)
congratulations the people of Zambia for showing that SATA is not a good leader. I encourage that from now onward, ever bye election including that one for Dora, let he be allowed to stand and she has to take it. Then we maintain a good balance in parliament. Dora is an experienced Law make despite a few shortfalls on social behavior but we all make mistakes anyway. Now is the time to hold on to the formula we discovered to win the formula. Lessons to learn. Richard Taima, and the Lameck Mangani that the end of your Political career which unfortunately have now left you with huge debt. I look forward to Siamunene, also to be taught the lesson. Forward with UPND. I was a PF fanatic but have now given up
The last nail in the PF coffin will be next years poor maize harvest which will send food prices sky rocketing…
And as we get near to 2016 you will see how Sata, Winter and Scott will be abandoned when the boat finally looses steam…
Like i have said before… am not a UNPD supporter but i can see its up for the taking…
I meant I.D.I.O.T.S
You are spot-on ndobo, ek and al are chocking with bitterness. They can go eat glass. VIVA OPPOSITION!!! Aluta continuaaaa
Ukwa thought he would F.O.O.L people with chahchacha politics.. its clear he has not kept pace with time…
I see someone with no immunity and without a passport to empty unripe bags in India.
2016 here we come
A lesson well delivered and hopefully, well learnt too! The people’s voice is silent but very clear. The wise hear it quickly and understand it, the unwise never even notice whats changing around them until its too late. Take heed and listen as the answer to long life and prosperity lies in your ear – Uwakwisano (26/07/2013).
We the people have spoken!
Fact #1, PF arrogance has been rewarded in full measure. How could their leader go to Chipata and refer to the easterners as backward people?
Fact #2, The people have had enough with the failing PF.
Fact #3, If general elections were to be called today the PF would wiped out and erased from history.
Fact #4, The writing is on the wall!
WE THE PEOPLE!
So it is not wrong to label a whole party as tribal but wrong to call other people tribal!! Had UPND lost, I can imagine how many insults would have be thrown at poor HH, that humble young man.
What do we learn from this? The lesson is that labelling and profiling others for wrong reasons causes pain and we should therefore stop it. Let us stop it. It is just wrong. You will recall how people reacted to the appointment of a majority from one ethnic group in the Cabinet proper. Were they right or wrong? It does not matter now. What is important is that we should stop it coz tribalism can lead to a “Rwanda” and none of us want that in our beautiful Zambia. GRZ should take the lead in this fight esp. that tribalism became more prominet after 2011 elections!!!
Agreed. We don’t need tribalism in this country as people of Kafulafuta and Solwezi East have proven. But appointing people to Cabinet….? It is the President’s prerogative and in this case he appointed those he believed had been with him all along and thus had demonstrated that they believed in his leadership and could work with him. How can you go and appoint someone who was campaigning against you and your policies and leave those that fought for you and defended you! You only reap where you sow. What Sata did could have been done by any President to have won 2011 elections. I remember hearing in 2001 people sharing posts even in parastatals before the final winner was declared. They were from one ethnic group and they pronounced the demise of another group! A big lesson indeed!!
This is good for our democracy. You cannot rule the country with lies, deceit, corruption, starving the citizenry, arrogance, dictatorial tendencies, no vision for the country………….. list is endless. The writing is on the wall…. kuya bebele!!!!
well done opposition. this is just sweet. we celebrate success. yaaaa!!!!!!!!!
EEEEH NEXT …LETS GO FOR A PRESIDENTIAL BYE ELECTION
May Day! May Day! S O S, the boat has a big hole and sinking by lake mwantipa.
The verdict has been made by Zambians that PF Sata govt has been REJECTED.
With shame some reasonable people in PF have urged UBUFI SATA to discontinue all pending election petitions in court so that the migre resources can be channeled to national development instead of man made by-elections.
Congratulations to Zambians in upholding democracy with a hostile PF govt.
SWEET VICTORY FOR THE OPPOSITION
Democracy!
Lesson one for our beloved PF.
Drop your arrogance and govern properly.
I love all zambian brothers and ask that bemba and tongan reconcile, the president should share top GRZ jobs equitably to pprove he is not a tribalist.
Unbelievably true! This is a milestone in our Zambian democracy. The ruling party should not be seen to be unbeatable through the ballot. Because once that happens, you have a situation which my beloved party found itself into: believing that they were invincible, so much that when the PF took over executive power, leaders of our beloved party could not believe it! Even RB couldn’t believe it. It was also unbelievably true! We need to revert back to the hang parliament that we got after the 2011 elections. That way, as long as opposition MPs behave maturely, we will have progressive laws and policies that can propel the development agenda of this country. A hang parliament is only bad when the opposition is immature. By that I mean when their sole job at Manda Hill is to oppose.
Mangan sh’ld b ashamed of himself by moving to PF
NEXT PLEASE SIAVONGA AND ITEZHI TEZHI.
GUESS WHO WILL HAVE THE LAST LAUGH.
GOD BLESS THE REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA
That’s how you know that some leaders are incorrigible, unless his lost his memory or something, its hard to understand that Sata can adopt the same approach as KK did when the man was booted out of power by MMD. What sata Doesn’t seem to understand is that people want freedom…freedom of speech, assembly and association. Zambians have already tested it…if PF want to take us back to kaunda days they will loose, they can suppress some sections of the media all they like but the truth is, people can see what PF is turning out to be…
@9 ba Emma, naimwe kanyengesheni fye. Just 4 by elections u busy mouthing ati ”the people have spoken”
Congrats Nevers for wining Chipata Central. Atleast you can now smile and start reconciling with your members. PF work hard for better Zambia if you want to rule beyond 2016. All opposition political parties need to cerebrate this victorious by elections.
Message is clear PF. Zambians hate your dictatorship, lies, deceit, censorship and stubbornness that you have fallen in love with. Concentrate on service delivery and not wasting taxpayers money on useless induced bye elections. We the people have the power to kick you out or lift you up. Time to listen is now!!!!!!!
meanwhile facebook has been blocked inside zambia
Which Zambia is that? Facebook is still active and am chatting with someone there
PF take this as the beggining..a sign of worse things to come a sign that you will not be able to bully your way for much longer. Best way forward is a return to the drawing board an engagment of your best brains to find a strategy that wins, exercising tolerance of divergent views and showing humility, which always wins respect and recognition from the people who put you into office… The reaction of your party secretary general does not inspire confidence. I wonder if the rest of the party functionaries will prove that Mr Kabimba is an exception and not the rule. Those who have benefited from you misrule would be wise to take heed because I see “pay day” coming for them too for all ill-gotten wealth and position
If u practice Humanism u are a Humanist.
If u practice Communism u are a Communist
what SATA practices is SATANISM and that Individual Practicing it is a SATANIST.
Chizungu baba. Not Cha Muzungu Opusa.
it is right and also good that the PF were trounced. It makes me feel glad actually.
That is a very strong message being sent to the PF led govt! I had earlier said even if Mpezeni speaks for Mangani on that rally, people never listen to that so called chief because he is always after the brown envelope. A really good lesson to the PF, the people do not want them anymore and it is time they tamed their cadres and some of their MPs! Respect to the people of Zambia in those areas for voting for the opposition! Ballot will always save you from those criminals!
A SLAP IN THE PRESIDENT’S FACE. WELL DONE ZAMBIANS. ENOUGH WITH PF NONSENSE OF BY ELECTIONS. WE CAN NOT HAVE SUCH LEADERSHIP OF PF, ITS ATTAR RUBBISH WITH NO DIRECTION.
PF check……..
PF?
eh?
No answer.
Check mate…..!
Thank you Zed. That is the way to go. You have the right to vote with your heart and brain based on your analysis of the betide of time. In such dastardly times, Caesar’s (Zed people’s)spirit, ranging for revenge, with Arte (Chitapankwa, Jumbe, and Chief Mwamba) by their side shall in their own time cry, “Havoc!” and let slip the dogs of war! And blood and thunder shall cumber every part of Zed that mothers shall but smile when they see their children quartered (cut in pieces like a cow at a butchery).
I m annoyed with the results from east where Lameck thought he was popular. I advised him not to contest but he refused. we risked our Job to campaign for PF during 2011 tripartite elections and these are the guys who insulted president Sata in 2006 and 2008 why giving them first choice. I was happy when I was informed that president has refused Tima to contest in solwezi that was a greet move. Its too early to start losing like that. PS, DCs in these areas should be fired with immediate effect. why should they be in govt when they are not performing. They were put in govt for one reason to visit chiefs and headmen. what are they doing in the offices. they are undermining the authority fire them. They were told to explain removal subsidy to the community which they have stopped doing.
I want to look at the results of yesterday’s by election from many fronts. First, the real loser is not the PF as people may want to believe but the MMD whose political fortunes are diminishing at an alarming rate. This is because From 4 of their seats that were under contest, they only managed to regain 1 loosing 3.
Secondly, the one they have managed to scoop is theirs and from their stronghold. I honestly don’t call that victory.
As for the UPND, Solwezi is their stronghold though we need to recognize that this seat eluded them in 2011. They have also manged Kafulafuta which for me is the biggest win because they are making inroads into other areas.
So overall, the real winners are PF, UPND and Democracy
You’re mistaken bigtime. The PF had taken it for granted that they’ll steamroller over zambia turning every place into PF seats thru politically engineered by elections.Going to every opposition MP and inducing them to quit their party in return for a ministerial position. This is the backfired gamble people are rejoicing for as a “PF loss”
PF still has the chance to redeem itself. They are ruling. Just watch as the PF learns from its defeat. At least 1 university in each province, ni Ziiiii! link Zambia fyatile fyatile ni Ziiiii. No media coverage to see how the new Zambia is being linked; I guess the PF has to pay to ZNBC for that link Zambia campaign. Make ZNBC independent so that we can stop funding them with our hard earned K3. PF please flex your muscles You have just served for almost 2 years and in progress, UPND – 32 years, MMD 20 years, UNIP 27 years NAREP -10 years. I don’t believe the titanic is sinking yet. Pamaka!, Pabwato! More money in our pockets……ni let it rain bakamba!
I voted PF in 2011, but have been very dissapointed by the arrogance shown by the PF. Wynter Kabimba should be expelled, he is the one responsible for people turning against PF. Sata is also at fault after all the promise he showed
Wooooh! What drama!? It will be really interesting how The Post newspaper will be relegated, back to the opposition, come 2016. What goes up, must come down at some point.
P.F. Wake up call. Get rid of all the useless lazy weeds, the inept family tree in your Party, clamp dowmn on corruption, & stop violent conduct NOW, or come next General election, you will be trounced, then end up in Prison for whats happening now. Theres still time 2 get back on track. THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!!!
I can see Comrade Munkombwe Packing his bag’s to board the next ship that Sails after P.F’s journey ends. Its the belly telling him to pack up, abandon ship, & move to the Next Voyager. The Man has a Belly for a Brain!
NWP, fearless and UPND has won with a huge margin. Until all is delivered we will not tire. Storella you put as in this mess.
Is PF beginning to pay the price for subsidies removal?
NINSALA MULINAYO EILELENGA UKUTI MULEBOSA SO, PABWATOOO 4 LYF AND WE STILL HAVE MORE AND MORE CHANCES TO FREEDOM OURSELVES, MWABA IFIMINA BA STYOPET
If you look at this objectively the real loser is MMD they have lost 4 and have captured only one, Ndola rural was MMD’s strong hold as for Solwezi PF is never winning there Mukushi is new ground, lets watch and see. This is nothing to be exited about.
Imagine if PF had won all the seats people, we would be the same people saying SATA is bringing a one part state, now the question is does UPND still want Madam Acting Chief Justice to go? after all they’ve benefitted more , Politicians are the same banduku.
This a sign of good democracy and that if the ruling party wants to winning the next election the must work hard through out the time they are in power. Congratulation on the Opposition for having won the seats and congratulations to the PF candidate who won the seat.
This is a sign of good democracy and that if the ruling party wants to win the next elections they must work hard through out the time they are in power. Congratulations to the Opposition for having won the seats and congratulations to the PF candidate who won the seat.
The only winners in these elections were UPND, MMD came off the worst but PF came ff the most embarrassed. MMD are trying to busk is UPND’s success, clear indication of where the party is headed, OBLIVION!
